With being a new patient the surgeon had to review his prior records before the appointment, have the appointment, then document the appointment. Once the appointment was complete the surgeon then was in contact with the referred to doctor to ensure a smooth transition, all of these actions take time and energy of our staff and our surgeon. We do realize our patients do not always understand all the behind the scenes work that goes into a simple appointment, which we had scheduled for 30 minutes of time. Our COO had explained this to the patient when they called to discuss their bill so the patient has been informed of total time spent on his visit. We would also like to note Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County did a charge master review from a third party vendor in 2016 and 2017 to ensure proper pricing of services.
