Memorial Hospital of Tampa Reviews (3)

I am an ASE certified mechanic, and these guys should not be working on vehicles professionallyTrusted my vehicle to them during work ups for a deployment so I was corresponding over email for all this workHad a limited slip differential, ring and pinion, and new bearings put in the rear endThey ordered and installed the wrong gear ratio (it's a 4Xso this is [redacted] important) even after I told them I knew that my truck never had a factory option for 3:gears; he insisted that is what it had and installed itNot only was the pinion seal leaking when I picked it up, I had to argue with him when I got back that the gear ratio was wrong, prove it to him by engaging the four-wheel-drive on asphalt and letting him see that the truck wouldn't moveWhen they did "fix" it, they crushed one of the axle seals during re-installation and it leaked gear oil all over my drum brakes, ruining themAt this point I decided I was not going to let them touch it again and do the fix myselfI discovered when I removed the axle bearing, that they had nicked the axle about 1/8" deep with a grinder during removal of the old bearing, big no no for structural integrity of the axleI later found out this was done to both sidesI also found that they did not clean out the metal debris from the old gearset that had been completely destroyedI had asked them to put a helicoil in my transmission ear (I had them rebuild the whole trans) where the starter bolted on because it was strippedGuy said he "couldn't find one" when I asked why it wasn't doneThe transmission lines to the trans cooler they installed were contacting the long tube headers they installedAs a transmission specialty shop, they if anyone should know this is very bad for the transmission fluid to be exposed to that kind of heatof the nuts on my axle bearing retaining plates (The plate that literally keeps my axle from sliding out of the [redacted] housing) were stripped, and three of them had been replaced with what appeared to be very low-grade hardware that immediately stripped when I torqued them to the specified 50lb-ftI also discovered that my rocker panels had dents in them where the vehicle lift had contacted them during what must have been an improper placement of the vehicle liftThe only thing they did correctly is rebuild the transmission which I'm pretty sure is developing a leak alreadyI have put less than 10,miles on the truck since I picked it upThese guys seriously suck

I absolutely put 100% faith and trust into Gear Headz. It's very hard to find an honest garage these days and Gear Headz went above and beyond all of my expectations. They saved me over 1000.00 in repairs falsely diagnosed at another shop. I paid 100.00 and my car was running new again. I give them 10 stars out if 5. Awesome honest shop. Only place I will ever take my vehicles to.

I am an ASE certified mechanic, and these guys should not be working on vehicles professionally. Trusted my vehicle to them during work ups for a deployment so I was corresponding over email for all this work. Had a limited slip differential, ring and pinion, and new bearings put in the rear end. They ordered and installed the wrong gear ratio (it's a 4X4 so this is [redacted] important) even after I told them I knew that my truck never had a factory option for 3:1 gears; he insisted that is what it had and installed it. Not only was the pinion seal leaking when I picked it up, I had to argue with him when I got back that the gear ratio was wrong, prove it to him by engaging the four-wheel-drive on asphalt and letting him see that the truck wouldn't move. When they did "fix" it, they crushed one of the axle seals during re-installation and it leaked gear oil all over my drum brakes, ruining them. At this point I decided I was not going to let them touch it again and do the fix myself. I discovered when I removed the axle bearing, that they had nicked the axle about 1/8" deep with a grinder during removal of the old bearing, big no no for structural integrity of the axle. I later found out this was done to both sides. I also found that they did not clean out the metal debris from the old gearset that had been completely destroyed. I had asked them to put a helicoil in my transmission ear (I had them rebuild the whole trans) where the starter bolted on because it was stripped. Guy said he "couldn't find one" when I asked why it wasn't done. The transmission lines to the trans cooler they installed were contacting the long tube headers they installed. As a transmission specialty shop, they if anyone should know this is very bad for the transmission fluid to be exposed to that kind of heat. 5 of the 8 nuts on my axle bearing retaining plates (The plate that literally keeps my axle from sliding out of the [redacted] housing) were stripped, and three of them had been replaced with what appeared to be very low-grade hardware that immediately stripped when I torqued them to the specified 50lb-ft. I also discovered that my rocker panels had dents in them where the vehicle lift had contacted them during what must have been an improper placement of the vehicle lift. The only thing they did correctly is rebuild the transmission which I'm pretty sure is developing a leak already. I have put less than 10,000 miles on the truck since I picked it up. These guys seriously suck.
