Memorial Hospital Pembroke Urgent Care Center Reviews (%countItem)

I was told when I checked in that this was a 24hr walk-in clinic NOT an emergency room.
When I checked into the facility for an ear infection I was told that it was a 24hr walk-in facility and not an emergency room. I paid my walk-in deductible of $30.78

I later received a bill for $783.00 from the facility. I called my insurance co and they followed up with the facility to verify that yes - they are a walk-in care facility and not an emergency room and that they paid the facility $344.52 for a walk-in clinic visit.

My insurance, after contacting the facility about the charge, discovered that Dr working the facility is an emergency room Dr. The Dr coded my visit as an emergency room visit. My insurance does not cover "non emergency" services in emergency rooms so the company the Dr works for is billing me the difference - $407.70 for emergency services.

I've contacted the facility, the hospital that owns the facility and they referred me to the Dr's company that she works for. The Dr's company said that because she is contracted as an emergency room Dr she can code patients who come through the walk-in clinic as emergency room patients.

If I had been notified of this BEFORE I saw the Dr I would have cancelled my visit because I know my insurance does not cover emergency room visits for non emergency illness.

The Dr (or her company) needs to change the billing coding to the appropriate code for walk-in / urgent care service for this issue to be solved. I've called twice and asked them to do this and they have said "no".

Desired Outcome

Change the billing code to the appropriate walk-in, urgent care, non emergency code to zero this billing.

Our 24/7 facility provides high quality care for a wide variety of injuries and illness around the clock. The provider that rendered services to the client is a skilled physician that equal the Emergency providers. Due to the facility is open 24/7 the care is considered an Emergency and the place of service code can not be changed. The charge will remain valid

THANKS

Thank you for verifying what the facility, the clinic and the hospital that owns the clinic has confirmed with me. The clinic is "not an emergency treatment facility". You can't advertise yourself as a "critical care" facility then bill as an emergency facility.

You guys know doing this adversely affects insurance payments.

I'll follow up with The State of Florida .

We certainly value your concerns regarding Urgent Care. Unfortunately, our billings stands correct for the provider and do not warrant any changes. Thank you.

Since filing my Revdex.com and State of Florida complaints I have received an updated bill from the provider. They have lowered my bill from $407 to $100. If they had coded my visit properly in the beginning this would already be resolved.

I will now pursue this in small claims court.

Thank you.

CUSTOMER SERVICE IN ER WAS REALLY BAD
PEOPLE WERE RUDE WITH MY WIFE, SHE WAS IN PAIN ON THE FLOOR AND SHE WAS FORCED TO GET UP. HOSPITAL MEMBERS THOUGHT SHE WAS PRETENDING TO BE IN PAIN JUST TO GET MEDICATION. SHE DID NOT GET ANY MEDICATION AFTER 4 HOURS AND WHEN WE REQUESTED THE DENIED THE MEDICATION TELLING US THE DOCTOR WAS THE ONLY ONE AUTHORIZED TO GIVE HER MEDICATION AND HE WAS ATTENDING OTHER PATIENTS.

WE GOT THERE INTO ER AT 9:00 PM WE DID NOT LEAVE UNTIL 5:00 AM

WE ARE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PATIENT IN OUR SYSTEM AT THIS TIME. IF A RESPONSE IS NEEDED PLEASE ADD THE PATIENT DOB AND OR SSN IN ORDER TO HAVE A VALID RESPONSE..

I paid co-pay for the urgent care visit. However, I was then later billed separately for an emergency doctor visit.
I visited this location 2/14/2018 with the intention keep costs low since I've always considered it an urgent care location. I was treated for pneumonia/bronchitis. The doctor that saw me spent only 15 minutes with a diagnosis and later prescribed antibiotics. There were no indications that we would be billed separately from a doctor. We did not get a choice to not see a doctor regarding this. I recently submitted a negative review on their *** page and their response is that their facility is not urgent care. However, it is clearly listed in multiple map providers as "Urgent Care". Their billing practices are deceptive.

Desired Outcome

We were billed $746.00, which our insurance covered $589.56 (80%). Therefore, the remaining bill sent to us was $156.44. This did not include the co-pay that was paid at the facility ($75). We have already paid the $156.44 to prevent any collections and potential credit problems in the near future, so we want that $156.44 refunded to us.

Memorial Hospital Pembroke Urgent Care Center Response • Oct 18, 2018

We have carefully reviewed the consumer compliant regarding the ER physician charge. The charge is for professional services provided by the physician who cared for the patient while in the ED. Please be advised that the physician's fee is separate from the facility and is not based on the time spent with the medical provider. The professional fees are based on medical knowledge to render a diagnosis/treatment for the illness or injury presented. The member's insurance processed the claim towards the deductible amount of $156.44. At this time we are not showing any payments received; however, once the member's payment is posted for the $156.44, we will refund the member back $106.44 due to the complaint.

The payment was processed October 15, but we still have not yet received the refund.

DUE TO A SYSTEM ERROR, THE CONSUMER'S REFUND PROCESS WAS DELAYED. HOWEVER, WE HAVE NOW CORRECTED THE ISSUE AND THE REFUND HAS BEEN PROCESS ON 12/14/18 BACK TO THE CARD ENDING IN *** WITH CONFIRMATION NUMBER XXXXXXXXX. PLEASE ALLOW 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS TO CHECK WITH YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION.
