If you can't open my attached word document, please call me asap at [redacted] Thank you [redacted] Memory Lane Moving & Estate SalesOn Friday, July 15th, the 3rd day of our estate sale, [redacted] came in and bought a teak display storage bookcase/hutch with drop-down writing desk at more than half-off the original marked priceThis bookcase (about 4-5’ wide) also had a key for a storage door/writing surface (approx20”w x 18”h x 18”d), so the buyer can lock the storage door as wellThe key had been in the lock of this door since we opened the sale on Wednesday, July 13th and no one had removed the key throughout the sale hours of Wednesday and Thursday, July 13-Per our policy, the customer removed the neon-colored cardstock 3”x5” price card, which indicates the customer is 100% certain of buying this particular itemAs he did so, my temporary employee ( [redacted] Smart, a friendly competitor of mine who is helping me out while he’s not holding his own sales), told [redacted] that he should “grab the key so that it doesn’t disappear” [redacted] and [redacted] are familiar with each other, but [redacted] had to leave the room and tend to another customer [redacted] does not know if [redacted] then took the key with him or notThe customer left a $down payment with my mother (the “kind lady”) and when he returned with the balance owed, he asked for the keyRichard, my mother and I all thought that [redacted] had possession of the key...especially after [redacted] told him to “grab it so it doesn’t disappear” when [redacted] removed the price card Unfortunately, in our business, we experience theft, or attempts by customers to pay less money for things than what we askThere have been many times in my past 6+ years where an item that’s been for sale over 2-days is in perfect condition with no missing parts or remotesHowever, sometimes when a customer sets it aside to buy it, or they make a down payment and leave, they return with the balance owed and then claim that a part or a remote is “missing”Then they ask for a price reductionThe “missing” part/remote is present when they set the item aside, but upon returning, they claim that the necessary part/remote is now gone so therefore, they should pay less This happens about times a year So when [redacted] claimed that the key was now gone, Richard, my mom and I all assumed that [redacted] had taken the key when [redacted] told him to, and he just wanted to pay less moneySince we don’t outright accuse someone of stealing, we simply tell them that “someone had probably taken it” ie: DavidWho else would want a key to a bookcase they don’t want? And if someone truly wanted to steal a bookcase key, why didn’t they do it on Wednesday or Thursday? At that point, [redacted] expressed his anger with Richard, saying that he “couldn’t believe the key wasn’t there, and this piece of junk was worth nothing without the key” [redacted] reminded him that he told [redacted] to take the key when he removed the price cardBy the way, this beautiful TEAK display storage bookcase can easily function without the key; it just couldn’t lock the small 20”wide storage spaceWhen [redacted] said it was a “piece of junk worth nothing without the key”, [redacted] suggested that [redacted] ask my mom or me to refund him his $+ tax [redacted] never did that, but we would’ve immediately refunded him all of his money had he askedSo now that the bookcase key isn’t readily available, we offered solutions:#When a sale is completely over, we pack up all unsold items on Sunday or Monday and donate them on TuesdayIf the key is in the house, we will find it before noon on Tuesday the 19th, and we will call [redacted] and schedule a time to give him the key.#In the event that we never find the key, [redacted] offered to find [redacted] an alternate key from Richard’s key collection [redacted] collects skeleton keys, and he has a large jar filled with skeleton keys [redacted] said that he would call [redacted] on Monday or Tuesday, July 18-19th after all unsold items were packed up and gone, and the floors were swept, vacuumed and moppedAt that time on Friday the 15th, [redacted] agreed to the plan that [redacted] or [redacted] would call him on Monday or Tuesday and determine the next stepHowever, [redacted] didn’t wait for the house to be emptied out and cleaned before he filed the complaint; he filed it on Monday MORNING, and he was attempting to hire a (costly) locksmithMy mom and I immediately assumed he was doing this in retaliation for me turning away his romantic/sexual advances, or to pay less moneyIf you want me to elaborate on that I will, but I won’t at this pointSo after I got David’s complaint on Monday morning, I had [redacted] call him and remind him of Richard’s offer to find him a skeleton brass key from Richard’s key collection [redacted] didn’t answer his phone, so [redacted] left him a detailed message about the skeleton key option, and I also had [redacted] apologize to [redacted] for not calling [redacted] Monday morning (even though [redacted] agreed days ago to wait until Tuesday for a phone call from one of us)Before noon on Monday, [redacted] met [redacted] at a location that was David’s request (the location was NOT convenient for [redacted] or for me, but [redacted] doesn’t know that) [redacted] found a key that fit the teak display storage bookcase, and [redacted] was “ecstatic”I also called [redacted] around 2pm on Monday, and I left a voicemail for [redacted] stating that we did not find his original key but left instructions for [redacted] to contact him and find a key that would work for his teak bookcaseI apologized for the inconvenience and for the “missing” key, and I stated that [redacted] should call me if he was not satisfied with our solutionI didn’t hear back from him, so I assume all is fine.As of noon this past Monday, July 18th (the morning that [redacted] filed the complaint), [redacted] found a brass key for [redacted] that locks/unlocks the storage door, and [redacted] told [redacted] that he was “ecstatic” [redacted] did not show up at our sale this week, so I was ecstatic about that.I would like this to be on the record, however, that [redacted] R [redacted] has been a thorn in my side over the past 2-yearsIf I had submitted to any of his advances, we believe this complaint never would have been filedOn Friday July 15th, he agreed to wait until Tuesday, July 19th to hear back from usInstead, he filed a complaint on Monday morning and threatened to hire a costly locksmith for a door that didn’t even need a lock or key in order to function as a display bookcase/hutchRichard, my mom, and I all believe that [redacted] took the key on Friday when [redacted] told him to grab it, and then he either forgot where he put it, or he wanted to pay less money for itAnd we all believe that he filed the complaint to get back at me for turning him away

Miz [redacted] report is so far over the top that it's almost not worth qualifyingHowever, to set the record straight, I have always been polite and professional when attending any and all Estate & Garage Sales in the area. I am retired and own two very successful businesses, and chat with lots of people at these sales including staff.I have rental properties in all 3 Sun Cities, and look for furnishings. We also own properties in Flagstaff, Phoenix & Mesa, as well as a primary homes in North Peoria, and a Summer home in Pinewood Country Club - Munds Park, Flagstaff.Ask her mother who always says hello to me & we have a short chat as I check out. The idea of being a "stalker' is the most ridiculous thing I have ever hear. I am retired, and own two successful businesses. Have 4 grown children, and 7 grandchildren. my wife of 47 years often accompanies me to sales. She loves the antiques and silverware. Being from Europe she has great taste in classics.She better get her facts starlight before I sue her for liable & slander. She doesn't have enough money to handle the defense costs.I will stand by the report that I made, and f she wants to pursue some sort of legal action, go for it. They will laugh her out of court and town.Her point about me taking the "key" after [redacted] suggested it, is incorrect. I went to the Front Desk to ask if the price included both the top & bottom of the hutch? Her mother said yes, and I placed a $40 Deposit, and left for the bank to withdraw the balance due. Upon my return, there was a tape that had my name on it. That when I noticed that the "key" was missing. When I inquired, they said they did not have it. They never offered to refund my money as a solution to the problem.As a business owner, who has had full time attorneys' on my staff; that's how I would have handled it.[redacted] and I met, and went through a jar of keys, and found one that worked. Not nearly as nice as the original classic brass one, but sufficient under the circumstances.Based on this woman's incredible imagination and accusations, I strongly recommend that the Revdex.com drop her as a Member.
