purchased 4 tickets on the memphis queen for dinner cruise on september 28, 2013; boat was oversold, overcrowded, fire hazard, non ada compliant, we had a party of 4 at approximately $200 and decided to leave the ship prior to departure due to safety concerns and obvious violations. We have planned a family reunion for the July [redacted] holiday weekend and had included the [redacted] Riverboat Dinner cruise to be the main event for the weekend. We called this company several times between December [redacted]-January [redacted] before we actually made the trip from [redacted] to ensure that the prices/discounts/etc were correct before we actually visited the business, made reservations and paid the deposit. We were told that in order to receive a 10% discounted rate, we must make reservations for 15 people. On each occasion that my sister, [redacted] and I spoke with the representative of this company, we were given the same, exact information. Once we confirmed the rates for the cruise, we traveled to [redacted], made the reservations for 15 people, as instructed, and paid the deposit accordingly. We notified our family reunion group that the reservations had been made and informed them that they could begin to make payments in order to participate in this portion of our reunion. This information given to us by the [redacted] Riverboat Inc company was given to about 80-90 people. Approximately 3-4 weeks later on [redacted] , my sister [redacted], receives a phone call from another representative of the company advising us that the representative that made the reservations and took our deposit gave us the wrong prices and times of the cruise. The only options we were given was to request a refund or pay an additional amount of money (almost $300 extra dollars) 2 weeks prior to the event. Our ticketed price went from $44.25 per adult to $65.50 per adult. They also informed us that the representative that made the reservations had been terminated due to other mistakes on their end. We were told that we had to give them a decision as to whether we would be requesting a refund of our deposit or paying the extra money by the end of day [redacted]. There was no concern that the information we had been given was also given out to 80-90 other people.Desired SettlementI attempted to telephone this company [redacted] to request a refund. The automatic information you receive when you call states that their business hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. but no one is answering the phone. I also sent an email. I have not received a response from anyone at this time. This is bad business and Memphis Riverboats Inc does not honor the information that they give out. This has caused our event planners a lot of trouble. They hire incompetent people to conduct business.
