Review: A final payment has been put on hold without explanation. My behavior and actions to pay this account have not changed, I chose to pay them with a personal check, via mail. I chose not to pay them online or electronically. I did this as a choice, my choice. The company processed all checks immediately until now, the final payment. They are holding and continue to hold a check for two weeks and counting and will not give me a reason, nor will they let me speak to a supervisor. The supervisor is unavailable. I believe this outstanding debt will help my credit once it is paid in full, yet this final hold stops this process and I find it offensive.Desired Settlement: I desire them to process the check immediately, as they had done in the past and write me a written explanation why it was delayed and apologize for this hold which affects my credit line.

Review: [redacted], M.D. treated me at Santa Barbara, Calif. Cottage Hospital ER in Oct. 2013. His care was excellent. However, I found it necessary to work out a payment plan for the fee. Dr. [redacted]' affiliation with the South Coast ER Medical Group and its extraordinarily dysfunctional billing department has caused my complaint. Believing a plan had been worked out, I made my first payment by check. Next I phoned the number provided to begin monthly payments via bankcard. However, nobody there seemed to have any knowledge of a plan! Several more calls were required. Things seemed settled. I phoned next month to make a payment. Same confusion. Then an erroneous collection office billing arrived! Then back to South Coast. Finally, I began paying monthly as agreed. Someone named Crystal (ext. 685) explained South Coast was "changing billing offices but we will report your payments to the new office." Of course I trusted them to do this, and by December 2014, I had approximately $25.00 remaining on my account. Phoning to finish the bill in January, I was told they had "no record" of most of these payments (e.g., they had a record of two)! Nobody would search their accounts nor help in any way. No manager would speak to me. The bill is again at a collection agency, and includes additional fees I do not owe. I have ascertained all of my payments via bank records in order to prove my case. However, these dealings with South Coast ER Medical Group have been so unpleasant and required so much time that this complaint seemed essential. There have probably been 35-40 phone calls to South Coast with only 10 of them involving payments. This matter has now gone on for nearly two years, when it could easily have been settled - and the bill paid - within a year. Dr. [redacted] of Santa Barbara is a very fine physician. He should not be associated with such horrendous and abusive business practices.Desired Settlement: I would like Dr. [redacted] to require South Coast ER Medical Group to clear up this matter. That means their billing office must research and find that it did in fact receive all of the monies due (minus $25.00 approximately). I will happily pay the remainder once I am assured South Coast is capable of accurately recording its receipt and also assures me that this matter is resolved once and for all.
