Dear ***I am rejecting the response from *** K** dated February 25, I was sold a pre- owned *** *** *** from Mercedes- Benz of Maui on June 26, 2015, with a pre-existing leak in the A/C evaporator system It was not disclosed to me prior to the purchase Within several weeks of purchasing the *** the *** conditioning was not working On April 20, this *** was serviced by *** *** ***, *** for a used *** check When Mercedes -Benz of Maui brought this vehicle in they had stated to the general manager *** ***, that the *** conditioning was not blowing cold *** *** *** *** found that the freon in this vehicle was empty A full charge for a *** *** *** is lbs of freon They filled the A/C unit with lbs of freon I had contacted several A/C mechanics on Maui and several on Oahu to discuss this issue, and they all agreed that when an A/C unit requires this much freon it is indicative of a leakAn A/C system is a sealed unit, and when the Freon is empty there is a leak There also was a very foul odor when I turned on the A/C, again indicative of a leak This odor was partially disguised by some type of "new ***" *** freshener, which eventually wore off I was never presented with the used *** check paper work from *** *** ***e prior to my purchase, nor was I ever asked to sign itThere also was no discussion at all about the leak in the A/C unit at the time of purchase. When Mercedes-Benz of Maui had taken this *** in for rep*** on April 20, they were well aware of the work that had been done per the receipt form *** *** ***Mercedes -Benz of Maui failed to disclose to me at the time of purchase that the A/C had a leak After quit a bit of leg work in finding a mechanic that was well qualified with reasonable rates, I hired *** *** Maui to do the work They found a leak in the evaporator, and replaced the evaporator and the condenser drier, on November 19, The total charge was $ I had shopped for a used vehicle for well over months to a year, and eventually chose Mercedes-Benz of Maui, believing that this dealership had an excellent reputation for customer satisfaction Needless to say I had been very disappointed when I was sold a vehicle with an A/C leak, and it was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase I also was without A/C for six months, three of those which were summer months, while I was trying to figure this out I had contacted Mercedes-Benz of Maui dozens of times, speaking with the manager, customer service manager and my salesperson The GM refused to speak to me or return any of my phone callsAlso when I had the A/C work done I was without a *** for a day and a half This has been a long difficult process In order to resolve this problem, I am asking Mercedes-Benz of Maui to cover the cost of the A/C rep*** of $ I am not asking for any compensation for the many hours of time I put into resolving this issue for the last months, as well as the mental frustration and headaches that went along with it.
