Mr. [redacted] initiated a call to his agent to advise them of a new address.  The agent took all of the information and advised the customer that this change would result in an increase in premium.  Mr. [redacted] then advised the agent that due to the increase, he did not want us to make the...

change to the policy; however, we must properly rate the policy.  The change was made and the customer was advised that if he did not agree with the premium, Mercury Insurance would require proof of residency to insure we were getting the proper premium for the exposure.  Proof that the customer still resides at the previous address was never received; therefore, the $16.00 cannot be waived.

The $50 first term cancellation fee that is the subject of the complaint is a fee that we have filed with the Nevada Department of Insurance to charge all customers who cancel their insurance policies before the expiration of the first policy term in order for our company to recoup some of our...

initial policy acquisition expense.  The premium amount that we charge each customer contemplates that the policy will remain in force for the entire term of coverage.  When the policy is cancelled prematurely, our company refunds the prorated portion of the premium that was unearned, which in this case was $100, minus the $50 cancellation fee amount.  This cancellation fee is disclosed in the Fees section of the Rules Manual that we file with the Nevada Department of Insurance.  A copy of the Fees section of the Manual is attached to this response.  Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: In the letter "Notice of Cancellation" there is nothing stated of a cancellation fee.  Also, when I called the insurance agent, John White never informed me of a cancellation fees while he suggested another insurance to cover my personal articles.I did not receive the information stated that was sent to me.
