Review: The financial aid administrators at Mercy College are very inadequate in properly assisting its students. Due to an oversight in billing that initially took over three months to figure out I was left with a balance of over $4,000 that I was responsible for paying. Once I decided to make an arrangement to pay the balance I was promised $1,500 towards my the balance in scholarship money that I was told was found for me. I paid $3200 on an American Express and waited and waited on the $1,500 promised by Mercy College that never came. In the end I was told by them that I was never eligible for the money, information that I could have no way of being aware of and that I would have the pay the remaining $1,500. In the end they made not one but two errors because of a lack of investigation into what money they could promise and ultimately not holding true to their promise. Then I was told by their financial aid administrator that I could make an arrangement with her for the remaining $1,500 and all I had to do was call her and she would come to the Bronx campus to meet with me. I don't drive and she is in [redacted]. She said she could schedule to work one day in the Bronx campus to visit with me. I have been calling her for weeks and as of yet she has not returned my calls. Instead, she had her assistant call me and her assistant told me she would call me directly, of which she has yet to do. This school is doing some very sketchy business and they are not good on their word. They offer things before knowing if they can and their follow through is non-existent. Now I have to pay double for their mistakes.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to come through on their promise of $1,500 on my account. Also, I want them to stop treating their students the way they do. They are playing around with people's finances and that is just not the way you do business.

Review: In spring 2007 I attended Mercy College to attain my Associate degrees in Business Administration. The Financial Aid department did not process my student loan nor my financial aid award for the second semester (it fell through the crack), and when they realized they received no payment it was during the middle of the summer semester I was asked for full payment in the amount of $6,461.58 or I cannot return. I was also asked to come in and apply for the loan and award (Via computer) however it was too late to apply for the previous semester. I requested a payment plan in the hope that they would be lenient because the error was on their part and was told no. I attended another college graduated and attained both A.A.S and B.B.A degrees without this issue ever occurring. I also had to retake all eight courses taken at Mercy College (I was not allowed my transcript due to owed balance), so you see I have student loans that I am currently repaying for both schools. Mercy College has put a judgment against me on February *, 2015.

I was not the only student whose loan was not processed that semester, I ask that you assisted me in making Mercy Collage accountable for their error in not processing my loans. I am responsible for my academic performance and maintain good grades not doing the job their financial aid counselors were hire for processing the loans. I would this debt removed from the collection agency and my credit report.

Review: The college told me to go to class when my financial aide was not yet in place and then told me that I could not attend class until my financial aide was in place. I was led to believe that my financial aide was arriving soon BUT it never arrived and then the school charged me for the semester that I was not even able to attend. When I called the school I was told 2 different stories and was left in limbo. The school has now billed me for a semester that I was not able to attend and will not let me transfer out of the school. I feel that they acted predatory and all they cared about was the money. I feel like a victim and cannot get any relief. They are supposed to be a Hispanic serving institution and all I get is the run around. It seems like all they want to do is take students money.Desired Settlement: I want to finish my degree and they are holding me and my future for ransom.

Review: The school has held me responsible for a complete semester, that I did not attend. The administration was suppose to withdraw me and they never did. They also never certified loans of mine that were sent to the schooI was not logging to classes at the time; I as attending online classes.Desired Settlement: I want my official transcript and that bill wiped clean.

Review: I am a student at mercy college and I applied for scholarships advertise on the Mercy website as being available for students to apply for. The school has failed to mention the scholarships are not available When you ask the school each year what happen to the scholarship I applied for they fail to give you an answer. Mercy is using false advertisement in order to get students to enroll. Scholarships offer on the site are not available , giving students false hope . Also full time students who do not even apply for scholarships are given a max of $2000 in order to keep them enrolled . As a low income student living on my own , I feel Mercy is taking advantage of their students by limiting students to funds that they say are available but are not. I have paid the school over $30,000 and have a GPA of 3.5 their no reason why funds should be limited when I have applied for them in a timely manner and have all the qualifications requested. Mercy should not offer and advertise scholarships that are not available.Desired Settlement: Scholarship for which I applied for not the one the school limited me to .

Review: I was trying to continue my education at Mercy College and was told that I was eligible for the EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) Program. I went to go see the people at Mercy College to discuss Financial Aid and they convinced me that everything should be fine and that I should just enroll in classes to make sure I didn't get locked out of classes I wanted to take. They didn't tell me about my Financial Aid status until classes started and then told me that I wasn't eligible for any Financial Aid. I then proceeded to drop the classes I was enrolled in because I couldn't afford to take them without any Aid. I spoke with a representative on the phone and they told me the matter would be resolved and I wouldn't have to pay anything. Fast forward some time and I begin to get letters in the mail saying I owe money to the school. I continually called the school to see why I was getting these letters and they told me that I didn't drop the classes in time and owe them. I am now getting letters from a collection agency that is trying to collect on something I shouldn't have to pay. I am a young person who has struggled all his life and was trying to only continue my education and instead I was lied to and manipulated by the people at Mercy College. I can't afford to pay this bill and all Mercy has done is make it harder for me by now possibly ruining my credit.Desired Settlement: The desired outcome would be to have Mercy and the collections agency not continue to contact me and drop all false charges that I owe them any money.
