*** (*** ***) The origination of this
transaction occurred when our Dealership Receptionist said that her ex-husband,
*** ***, was in need of a vehicle. One of our Sales Consultants reached out to *** over the phone to
find out what his
transportation needs were. After a brief conversation they concluded that a small to mid-sized pickup
with enough room for small children, Four wheel drive, and good fuel economy
were the features that would suit *** best. After a thorough search of the inventory they ( *** and Sales
Consultant) picked out a crew cab wheel drive Dodge Dakota pick-up***
asked about the price, payments and general structure of the deal. Having not run ***'s credit at this point
in the process the Sales Manager gave some rough estimates to the Sales
Consultant to pass on to ***. He was
told he would have to come to the Dealership in person to finalize the
deal. When he arrived at the Dealership
the Sales Manager explained exactly what the structure of the deal would look
likeSelling price, number of payments, down payment and the total payment
amount were fully disclosed prior to *** agreeing to anything. When he agreed to the terms and conditions of
the deal the paperwork was printed and signed by both parties. We were able to get him financed through a
high risk leasing company called North West Leasing, based in Boise. We had only done a few deals with NW Leasing
at this point. When we submitted the
deal to our accounting office it was noted that we did not have the back of all
copies of the lease agreement signed by the customerWe contacted *** to
tell him we were sending a new lease contract for him to sign. We Fed-Ex'd a contract overnight with a
return overnight envelope for him to return the contract back to us. He did not sign and return as he stated he
would. The following weekend ***
showed up at the Dealership and said that he forgot to bring the contract back
with him, and that he "wasn’t going to sign it anyway because the payment
had changed." I explained to him
that nothing had changed. The figures
were exactly the same as the contract he had already signed. He then threw the keys to the truck on my
desk and told me he was just going to bring the truck back. I told him that he had bought a truck and
that "things just didn’t work that way". He said he wasn't going to sign any new
contract and he just wanted his money back. I went out to the truck to inspect it and found that he had put over
miles on it in a little over two weeksI told him that the last dealership I
worked for charged cents a mile and $a day in a situation like thisAfter
a quick math lesson, he became even more aggravated and stormed out of the
dealershipI did not tell him I was going to charge him at that rate; I just
explained that there was going to be a fee for using the vehicleWe also had a
promotion at the time which was a gift certificate to Cabela’s when a
customer purchased a truckUpon returning the vehicle, Mr*** indicated
he spent the certificate At some point I felt like *** was going
to call me back and we would agree to a reasonable fee for using our vehicle
for 1/weeks and miles and spending out gift certificateHe has never
reached out to me or anyone else at this dealershipHe has however continued
to post negative social media and made disparaging comments to whoever would
listen. We are reasonable people and
want to do the right thing. This is
unfortunate for both parties as we work very hard to make every transaction a
positive experience. I am willing to
listen to someone that wants to have reasonable conversation and come to an
amicable solution to this unfortunate incident.*** ***General Manager, Meridian
