Merit Electric has been in business for years with many satisfied customers We are proud to conduct our work honestly and ethically; however, we simply cannot do service work for $per hour, this is substantially below our cost

We have already rescinded his account from our collections process and we have already reversed his invoice as a courtesy to himIf he mailed a check to our collection agency, they will be returning it to him without depositing it.Thank you

We were asked to quote several electrical repairs all together, which we did.  I've attached the quote and specification sheets for the desired electrical materials for your reference.
The customer decided to not go forward with all of the work and asked us to try and fix the bath fan only the...

most economical way possible.  To serve her request, we told her that we'd try to fix the fan motor and not replace the fan, which she agreed to.
We attempted to fix the fan motor, but ultimately it failed anyway.  To compensate her, we did not bill her anything for our service call.
Thank you

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:  It is inaccurate.  I had agreed to have the entire unit, not just the fan replaced and the appointment was scheduled as such after the Service Manager told me he found a fan unit in his stock that may or may not fit the unit.  The technician came out to try to iinstall the fan part located by the Service Manager and if that did not work (which it did not) he would then replace the entire unit during the same visit at the quoted hourly rate of $54/hr. plus the price of the heater, light, fan unit.  The technician tried to install the fan given to him by the Serivce Manager.  It did not fit.  The technician then said he thought he could clean the existing fan and get it to work.  He did that, put it back in and it seemed to be working when he left.  This was the Technician's idea, not mine.  I was ready to replace the entire unt.  After the technician left, telling me the fan was working, it started to make a very loud noise and was not exhausting any air.  This happened a few hours after he left.  I state again that I wanted h im to replace the entire unit when he found the fan part  he brought with him did not fit.  It was his idea to clean the fan and put it back into the unit.  I notified them that it was not working and that I wanted them to come back to replace the entire unit as agreed.  They told me they could not schedule me for about a month and a half out (which I thought was unfair, since I had already waited weeks to have this fixed, and it still wasn't fixed), but I agreed to that, providing they hold to the agreement of $54/hr.  They said they would and sheduled me for Nov. 1.  On Oct. 31 I called to confirm the appointment. They then backed out completely and said they "could not honor that agreement".  They still have not explained why they made this agreement and then capriciously decided not to honor it after making me wait for almost two months.   As I stated before, their Service Manager Jim was noticeably annoyed that I dared to aske him to credit back anything they would have charged me for the prior visit which did not fix the fan and did not replace it.  After that, everything changed and they refused to do the work at all.  This is a matter of principle.  Businesses should be ethical enough to live up to the agreements they make.Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: They are avoiding the point of this complaint.  THEY originally quoted the $54/hr price AND AGREED TO DO THE WORK FOR THAT PRICE.  THEN THEY WENT BACK ON THEIR WORD.  THIS COMPLAINT IS OBVIOUSLY GOING NOWHERE.   I REALLY DONT WANT TO HAVE THESE PEOPLE DO WORK FOR ME.  THEY OBVIOUSLY ARE UNWILLING TO HONOR THEIR COMMITMENT. I DO, HOWEVER,  WANT OTHER POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS TO KNOW ABOUT MERIT ELECTRIC'S  UNETICAL BEHAVIOR.  YOU DON'T PROMISE TO DO WORK FOR A SET PRICE, MAKE A CUSTOMER WAIT ALMOST TWO MONTHS FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO REMEDY PRIOR WORK THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, AND THEN WHEN THE APPOINTMENT DATE COMES, REFUSE TO DO THE WORK.  THEY MAY HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 34 YEARS, BUT NOW THEY ARE TREATING THIS CUSTOMER VERY BADLY.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Merit Electric has been in business for 34 years with many satisfied customers.  We are proud to conduct our work honestly and ethically; however, we simply cannot do service work for $54 per hour, this is substantially below our cost.

My wife and I bought a house that sits next to us three years ago. We have been remodeling it in preperation to rent. There was a lot of electrical work that needed to be done in the basement. We called several electricians and to be honest, many were astronomically high in their bids or didn't even call back.
When (I believe it was [redacted]) showed up, he was polite jovial and accurate. He was thorough with his explination of how long the job would take and scheduled the work within a week.
When the technicians showed up, they finished the job in a little more than a half a day.
When the job was finished and we got the bill it was half of the estimated bill.
This is a extremely professional bunch. The gave concise estimates, their estimator was the best and the work was flawless and the bill was great. The code number for this review is [redacted]
I would highly recommend Merit for any electrical work. Thank you for you services, you have a great team.

I had a couple of outlets that hadn't worked for several years and four more that weren't working after I had tried to replace them. Deciding it was easier to have a professional fix it than keep messing with it myself I submitted a request for a quote to Merit Electric through the Revdex.com site yesterday morning. I received a call back early yesterday afternoon from Jim, the Service Manager, who said he could come by first thing this morning to take a look to see if he could fix it and if not to give me an estimate. He arrived promptly at the scheduled time, was very professional and very efficient. In less than half an hour he had fixed all of the problems (pre-existing and self-created) and had explained all the work he was doing as he went along. I will absolutely call Merit again the next time I need electrical work in my home and highly recommend them to anyone else needing residential electrical work.
