Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/05/28) */
The customer came to the dealership because he had received recall noticesOn 9/15/repair order #XXXXX was generated, with odometer mileage o f XXXXXX, for the purpose researching open recalls and completing open recall repairs in
which parts were available
The original pre-write sheet states: "Filthy inside, lots of paint damage, driver side outside moldings missingright rear door small glass missing/brokendings throughout carDriver door panel almost Calling off, hard start, rough idle, shifter *** damage"
The dealership ran a search for open recalls and found open recalls as follows: N X XXXXX - Electric Power Steering Assist - Replace Power Steering Torque Sensor NXXXXXX - Brake Lamp Malfunction - BCM and BPPS Harness and Connector Repair NXXXXXX - Transmission Shill Cable Replacement
During this visit the Dealership was able to complete and close recalls NXXXXXX and NXXXXXX, and set the tire pressureAt that time parts were not available for recall NXXXXXX
The customer had contacted GM requesting a rental car until parts became availableThe customer also stated that his power steeringhindsAs a resultGM provided a rental car to the customer while the Dealership checked the vehicle power steering recall Ibr codes and to test drive the vehicleThe customer was issued a rental car on 9/15/and it was returned on 9/16/The power steering s!,stem was checked the codes and no codes were presentThe vehicle was test driven 16r ten miles and the dealership could not duplicate the power steering binding complaintThe customer was advised that there were no power steering fault codes and that we couldn't duplicate a power steering binding concernWe also advised the customer that the transmission was shifting late and hard and that the air bag light was onThe vehicle was returned to the customer until such time the power steering torque sensor parts became available
On 5/18/the customer called the Dealership and stated that his vehicle was being towed to the Dealership and that it was shutting offal intersections and he was positive that was part of the recallUpon arrivalrepair order NXXXXX was generated with odometer mileage ofXXXXXX, Upon arrival to the Dealership the vehicle needed to he jump started and would not continue runningAs a result the customer was advised and recommended that we should diagnose the vehicle's electrical and charging system for needing to he jump startedThe customer was also advised and recommended the vehicle he diagnosed kw the not staying running conditionThe customer was advised and recommended inspection of the front wheel being out n r alignmentand for the low coolant level conditionThe customer stated the alternator had been replaced by a friend and the battery was fairly newHe also state he had transmission work completed at another repair shop and he speculated that they might have left a suspension part looseThe customer declined diagnosis of any issue at that time,
Durint!, this visit the Power Steering recall_ NXXXXXX_ was completed and the Power Steering Torque Sensor was replacedAs a result all recalls for this vehicle are now closed(Per attachment)
SUMMARY: This vehicle has many issues which are well beyond the scope of any of the recall campaigns and the customer declined the diagnosis of any other issuesFurther, it should he noted that not only is the vehicle in condition of lacking maintenance and repairit is a salvaged vehicle and has a branded titleIf the customer is concerned with safety, as the general tone of his complaint indicateshe should stop driving this vehicle immediatelyThis vehicle is a salvaged vehicle that is in disrepair
Further, because the Dealership would not tell the customer that his vehicle was safe to drive and the Dealership in fact retbsed to tell the customer that the vehicle was safe to drive, he hand printed on the repair order: "No one could tell me that this car was safe to driveI will not accept responsibility''This statement doesn't change the fact that the customer is responsible for the condition of his vehicle and for the lacking repair it is inevery time he drives on the highway or the fact that he is fully aware of its condition as a salvaged vehicle, and has refused diagnosis of any further repairs
I ) All recalls are completed and closed fir this vehicle(per attachment) The three listed safety recalls are the only repairs which were made by the Dealership or authorized by the customer
2) The customer declined authorization of any other repairs or diagnose of needed repairs
3) The vehicle is a salvaged vehicle and in it's current condition of disrepair should not be driven
Sincerely, *** *** Chevrolet
