Mermaid Car Wash Reviews (7)

Thank your for your recent visit, I’m sorry you had a problem. I just returned from a vacation to find our voice mail box filled with calls from others; so much for the “do not call list” by the federal government.
As I have done for the past 19 years, I’ve...

returned you $10.00 via token notes and a FREE car wash valued at $8.00; so you’ve received $18.00.
I’m not sure what time you were at the car wash on Sunday, but I was there from 8:30 AM until 6:00 PM. Our voice mails were emptied on Monday 3/10 at 7:30 PM. I guess you got impatient after “5” calls.
Sincerely

To the Revdex.com,  we have operated Mermaid Car Wash here for 20 years as a "Self Service" car wash.  Our Self Service bays are equipped with a credit card reader and the unit is 2 years old; made of Stainless Steel for the wet outdoor environment.  The manufacturer does not offer a receipt...

simply because it will not work if the paper gets wet!  As my photograph clearly shows, the STOP button is within 2 inches of the Credit Card slot........IT CAN NOT BE ANY CLEARER THAN THAT!   For those who like instructions, the menu board with instruction is above......in ENGLISH, it says PRESS THE STOP BUTTON WHEN DONE.     Since or machine counts up from 0, it's very rare that you could wash a car from $3.00 exactly.   At any rate, again our sign is rather clear, there are no refunds if you forget to press STOP.Why are more and more people blaming others for their stupidity..............take responsibility, you simply did not follow easy instructions.  We did you a favor by stopping the machine at $15.00.

So now that the consumer has made a BS statement to **, you still want me to do something nice.   Not a chance now.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]

I am rejecting this response because:  I did in fact press the STOP button.  It would appear that there is no way to prove this, however.  I also read the instructions which is why I made sure to press the stop button.  Clearly your equipment was not functioning properly.  What documentation do you have that shows I did NOT press the stop button?  Again how are you so sure that I am "stupid" and it was not simply an equipment malfunction?  It seems that you are a business that has resorted to bullying and name-calling a customer who believes there was an error.  I would have been happy with a voucher for a wash and based on your response, an apology.  Sad to say - everyone on [redacted] will now know never to visit this Mermaid Car Wash.
Regards,

of our 12 vacuum machines.  We have seen a huge spike in vandalism from paperclips to bobbie pins destroying the coin switch.  Last week I purchased 12 new electronic coin acceptors totaling  $3000.00 to eliminate this problem. What I haven't figured out is how to stop the "robo calls", typically 5 a day into the car wash voice mail which fills the voice mail box.  So much for the federal government's "do not call list". For the past 19 years our business policy has been quite simple, we send a token note for what you lost $2.00 PINK token note, plus a Free Car Wash; Yellow Token Note.  The Revdex.com is aware of what we do regarding refunds as well as they have samples of our token notes on file.  I'm mailing your refund today. Again please accept my sincere apology.  Jeffrey T[redacted], PresidentMermaid Car Wash, Inc.[redacted]Camp Hill,  PA 17011###-###-####

Review: My wife brought her car in for a car wash on Saturday March 22nd at approximately 5:50 pm, in the processes of washing the vehicle the passenger mirror was broken from the housing. I feel they tried to take advantage of her because they immediately said it must have been broken prior to her entering their business . They put 3 rubber bands on it and sent her on her way. When she notified me of what had happened I called and spoke with the manager. He informed me that someone else would look at the video and call me with an explanation. After receiving a call from the owner I went in to view the video myself. I asked for a copy of the video which he would only display a picture of the mirror prior to the car wash. The owner said no to the copy and went on to inform me that it would be deleted in 10 days. On top of all this they did a terrible job vacuuming the inside of the vehicle. Honestly you can't even tell it was done.Desired Settlement: Mermaid Carwash to replace the mirror.

Response:

My name is [redacted]

I opened Mermaid Car Wash October 10th 1984 and managed full service washes

for 7 years before that.

Saturday March 2200 2014 a young lady brought her Blue 2008 Honda Pilot

in to Mermaid Car Wash 526 Grand Canyon Drive to get a car wash. License

plate [redacted].

Our records indicate that this license plate has been washed here on 4 separate

occasions.

March 22 2014 - November 9th 2013 - March 292013 - February 6 2012

When the vehicle came out of the car wash an assistant manager noticed

that the mirror on the passenger side was hanging out of its shell. At that time

assistant manager [redacted] approached the vehicle and saw that there were impact

marks on the side of the mirror. [redacted] then asked the customer if the mirror was

damaged in any way prior to bringing it into the car wash. She informed [redacted]

that yes it had been damaged but the mirror was not hanging out of the shell.

[redacted] had noticed that there was paint transferred on to the shell (outer casing)

that appeared to be from clipping a garage door. And explained our policy

according to the signage at the back door before she entered the car wash. "We

Are Responsible For Factory Installed Equipment In Original Working

Condition." [redacted] then told her he would secure the mirror back inside the shell

so she could drive it. [redacted] then taped it and put rubber bands on it.

The customer was satisfied Thanked [redacted] for his help and drove off.

Sunday March 23rd late aftemoon [redacted] called Mermaid and talked to the

Manager [redacted]. [redacted] told [redacted] that we broke the mirror on his girlfriend's

car and we needed to replace It. [redacted] also stated that "we were lucky that he did

not come down here because he wasn't a girl" [redacted] said something to the effect

of I suppose if I had a scratch on my truck and the tire fell off you wouldn't be

responsible for that, he continued to curse at [redacted] saying that this is Bt and

we were going to pay for it. After listening to lack swear for 8 to 10 minutes [redacted]

informed him he would take down some information from him so he could look into

the matter.

Monday March 24th [redacted] brought the situation to my attention and [redacted]

and I reviewed the video from March 22nd. We have a OVR system that has 28

cameras on that records based on motion. This OVR will continue to record until

the hard disk is full and then it writes over old data. [redacted] presented me with a

copy of the receipt from the cash register transaction showing me the license plate

and time the customer was in the car wash. We pulled up the cameras showing

the vehicle pulling into the vacuum area and could clearly see that there was

damage to the passenger side mirror. This is while the customer is still in the

vehicle. I ([redacted]) called [redacted] and explained what we saw on the video

and invited him to come to the car wash and review it with me.

[redacted] came into the car wash at 1 :30 the review the video sat down in my office

and I showed h!m the damage on the mirror. He agreed that there was damage

on the outside of the mirror shell but the mirror was still inside it. I explained to

him that in my 35 years of doing this that it appeared to be an impacted from a

garage door opening.

There was white paint transfer onto the casing of the mirror from the impact.

[redacted]then started to swear at me in a loud tone and demanded that I pay for a

new mirror. Saying I don't F-ING care if there was damage to the mirror the glass

was still in it when she brought the car in. He then went into a rant that even If I

saw someone come up and kick the F-ING mirror of the car I would not pay for it.

I assured him that that was not the case and again asked him to stop with the

vulgar language. He said F- You and said that I am Just Like [redacted] but he has

money. (The reference to [redacted] is someone that apparently we both know.) He

demanded that I give him a copy of the complete video. I told him it would be

available for him or anyone else to review for about the next two weeks before it

was over written. He continued on with the swearing and personal insults so I

turned off my computer screen and asked him to leave.

Our position; This is about as basic as it gets. This vehicle came to us with a preexisting

condition the mirror was obviously damaged before it entered the wash

process. This vehicle has been washed here before with no problems.

Thank You

Review: On Sunday, March 9, 2014, I visited the Mermaid Car wash branch located at [redacted], [redacted], PA. I used a credit card to purchase a $10 automatic car wash. The payment terminal acknowleged receiving payment but the wash didn't activate or allow me to enter. No attendant was present but a telephone number was posted. I called the number but the call went unanswered. A voice mail message instructed me to leave contact information for a follow up call but a subsequent message told me that the voice mail box was full. I called back five times since that time and received the same message.Desired Settlement: I'd like my money refunded.
