Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me However would like to point a few things out from the businesses responseIf they checked their records my son is not an early year old he will be years old this SeptemberI'm an early childhood educator and my son along with most and year olds can voice their needs which the business states they can't I would also like to address that we brought our son in with a concern that he may have a [redacted] with a back molar and that's the tooth they x rayed twiceSo I'm not sure where their getting their info when stating a child does not gag on a front tooth x rayClearly they have their info wrong Lastly I am still not sure why they never responded to the fact that why anyone in that office put their hands on my child's forehead to force him for a second x rayThe second shoud have never been take when he was clearly showing and talking that he was scared This morning my son had another visit with another pediatric dental company and it went wonderfulFor the record they gave us a tour, talked with us and our son on what would be going on during his visit, showed him the tools they usedNot only did they do an exam they were able to get a cleansing doneWith that said they did not do an X-ray as they could clearly see our son had a [redacted] without an X-rayThey also told us he did not need a root canal but a simple fillingThey also addressed to us that the [redacted] was in fact on one of his back molars which we knewSo I'm not sure why in the above response they say front tooth nowIt is clear that they did not pay attention during the visit and simply rushed is through and did more than one X-ray for money purposes We are thankful for the response and thankful for the full refundWe are sad that this experience happened and hope that after our addresses concerns better practices will be put in place for future patients attending Meslins office We would like a COPY of some sort for our record that states we will be giving a full refundIt can be mailed to us at [redacted] *** Sincerely, [redacted]

As a parent, I understand how difficult it is to see your child cry That being said, however, the parent must understand the limits of a year old’s understanding and attention span This child was given an age-appropriate explanation of what the doctor would do – “look at your teeth,” and “take a picture of your tooth.” Tears are a reaction for any year old as they lack the vocabulary and maturity to express their feelings in words Sometimes it is difficult for parents to allow the doctor to engage the child without answering for the child or interrupting the doctor with their interpretation of what was said Radiation safety protocol necessitates that anyone not involved in the x-ray be out of the room If the parent needs to stay, they need to be properly shielded An x-ray of a front tooth does not trigger a gag reflex, as the film only goes directly behind, and touching the front teeth When an x-ray is needed for proper diagnosis, and cannot be obtained due to the child’s behavior, we give the parent the different scenarios of what treatment may be needed once the decay is removed based on what we can see in the child’s mouth One possible scenario is the need for a [redacted] – a type of root canal performed on a primary (baby) tooth, if the decay (infection) has spread to the tooth’s pulpThe parents were also shown examples of the different restorations used after the [redacted] The mother stated she would not allow the child to be treated with local [redacted] or [redacted] ***, nor did she want a crown, and told the doctor what treatment she felt should be done By not using a local anesthetic, the risk of the dental procedure causing the child pain is very high The association of pain with dental procedures will create a dental phobia A parent cannot expect any doctor to forego their training and agree to treat the patient based on what the parent has read online or heard about from others While there is much valuable information online, each patient must be treated according to their needs and acceptable standards of care When the parent demanded treatment other than that standard of care, and in view of the drastic difference in treatment philosophy, the doctor suggested they might like to go for another opinion They then walked out without any further contact with clinical or business team members When the child’s visit was completed, an insurance claim was sent electronically As that was done before the parent refused to pay, the claim was not retrievable, so the money paid by the insurance company has been returned and the full charge written off
