Met Tower

My husband and I have lived at the *** for a little over 2 years. Our first year and half were great. We had a wonderful relationship with the leasing office, concierge, and neighbors. The value of the apartment and the amenities it came with were spot on for what we were looking for.
Then, out of nowhere, we received a notice that the building was under new management (Avenue 5). Everyone from the previous team was fired including the world's best concierge attendant. The notice was given in the middle of the day on a Wednesday and the only reason why I was able to say goodbye to our previous staff was because I was working from home that day.
Ever since the Avenue 5 Residential has taken over the customer service to tenants has completely disappeared.
We weren't getting our packages because the new concierge "didn't do packages" so our packages were locked in a backroom and couldn't be accessed by us. Eventually, they hired back the rockstar concierge attendant and ever since her return we have access to our packages again.
When I reported that our key fob for the garage stopped working I was told "oh, we changed garage management companies so you'll need to call them." My husband and I never received notice about the change in garage management companies and now it was on us to get it resolved?! We were given 1 name and 1 number which we called multiple times with ZERO response. Every day the problem went unresolved, we told the leasing office and they kept telling us to call and said they couldn't do anything! Only one employee called the garage management and got someone on the phone and explained our situation and that person said they couldn't resolve the issue either!! So for 1 week we couldn't enter or exist the garage without calling security to key us in and out. Each time we called they would tell us "you really need to get this fixed" to which we replied with how we were calling and emailing every day and no one was responding. The problem only got resolved when my husband wrote an email to the building and garage management companies outlining the breach of contract the building was in because the garage is part of our lease. Only then did a person from the garage management company resolve the problem. We never heard a word from the building management team.
Our apartment is on the prowl of the building which means one entire side of our apartment from end to end are windows. We are also on a low floor which means people from the street can see into our apartment. Each apartment comes with top only roll down blinds. The blinds do not block light at night (you might as well sleep under street lamp) and when rolled down they cast a horrible green color throughout the entire apartment. Coming from Southern California, we prefer natural light but being on a lower floor we need privacy. We opted to not use the blinds and put up curtains - leaving the top half of the window open to allow natural light in and covering the bottom of the window for privacy. Building management has now required us to remove the curtains and use the blinds. We are allowed to use the curtains behind the blinds only. Because that makes sense. It 100% defeats the purpose of a curtain. Here is the kicker - is it a safety issue? Nope. It's for building uniformity from the outside!! It's 100% vanity from outside the building. So now we we pay a st ton of money to live in a green fog with no natural light. OR we can have natural light with ZERO privacy.
I used to love this building. We had community and peace and my husband and I are very self-sufficient and rarely need assistance with things. When we needed help we used to get it. With Avenue 5 all of that has changed. I would never recommend someone renting from this Avenue 5 Residential.
