Used refrigerator was delivered to me in non-working condition; requesting free removal of delivery-paid item and full refund, per contracted warrantyPurchased a used refrigerator from the retail sales arm of the business, which is named Extreme Appliance, on Thurs [redacted]. (The contract/receipt document mentions both business names, Metal Men Appliances and [redacted] as does their web site http://www.metalmenappliances.com/ which also lists the [redacted] street address and phone number.) It is a white [redacted] fridge, model # [redacted] there is no further purchase/invoice number on the contract. They promised delivery on Wed [redacted] Received actual delivery of non-working used refrigerator the following afternoon, on Thurs [redacted] Unit freezes all food in all shelf locations, regardless of thermostat setting. The fridge is housed at a community center (and thus not a daily-use emergency) so we did not begin our warranty followup request until a few days after delivery, merely returned it to unplugged and empty state following the weekend event for which we purchased it. Began conversation to request warranty-covered repair service on Wed [redacted] by phoning and speaking directly with salesperson who remembers me. (Her name is [redacted] and she has been my sole point of business contact throughout.) Initially assumed that scheduling a service call would be a reasonable option, and indeed her initial response (Wed[redacted]) was that she would go ahead and schedule a service call for me. However, I have since attempted daily calls without the promised followup when I have phoned back, I have once gotten a reiteration of the "I'll call you back with a service date" (Thu [redacted], when I redialed immediately after she accidentally? hung up on my first attempt), thrice been bounced to voicemail instead (Fri[redacted]). I would therefore rather not be further involved with a non-responsive business, and would prefer to exercise my contractual option of returning the item instead for a full refund. Contract states that returns of non-working units are accepted within 7 days, and I duly reported my unit as non-working within the stated time period. (A possibly useful bit of context: during the day of initially promised delivery, as the promised hour of communication came and then went and then receded in the distance, I received a strong impression that this business employs a standard practice of simply failing to pick up calls that are unwanted. Perhaps all explainable by heavy call volume? But it does begin to feel suspicious after numerous attempts.)Desired SettlementRequesting free removal of item and full refund. I paid [redacted] in cash. Am not requesting refund of the delivery fee, which was [redacted] for both this fridge and its companion stove that is working fine; I do, however, expect that warranty-covered removal service should be covered by that delivery charge.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]Customer was never refused or told she would not be taken care of we spoke to her numerous times and she was either busy or we were busy. She was not using frig on a regular bases just when needed. This response is old and customer has already been given another frig to replace the one that was not working right. She recieved her new frig in the beginning of [redacted] 2014

Failure to honor warrantyI purchased a refrigerator from Metal Men on 4/29/13. They delivered the fridge and picked up my old fridge. Within the 60 day warranty period, I notified them that the fridge was leaking water from the top portion of the refrigerated section. Metal Men made an appointment to have their repair man take a look at it within a few days. They never showed. After 4-5 more scheduled appointments at which the never showed, they finally had someone come out to say that the fridge was not able to be repaired, but that they would replace it. After at least a month or so, they finally delivered a replacement refrigerator. After plugging in the replacement, we stored our food in it. The fridge continued to get colder and colder each day until it began to freeze the food in the refrigerated portion. We attempted to adjust the temperature downward to no avail. We eventually turned the temperature to off, let everything thaw and tried again. After a few days the fridge froze again. We immediately contacted Metal Men to inform them that the replacement fridge was broken. They then told us that we would have to pay $50 for someone to come out and fix it plus the cost of the part. They refused to honor the warranty. We informed them that they agreed the original fridge was covered under the warranty and that they did not fix the original fridge per the warranty, but replaced it with a broken one. They still refuse to fix or replace this fridge. The [redacted] has failed and refused to return my repeated phone calls. Desired SettlementAt this point I would just like my money back. I am not willing to have them make another 6 appointments that they will not show up to repair this issue. I also don't want to receive yet another broken fridge. Basically, I had a fridge that I was looking to replace, so I paid $220.00 to Metal Men for a refrigerator, which I was hoping was better than the one I had. Turned out, the one Metal Men sold me was broken as well, and when they replaced it, Metal men replaced it with yet another broken fridge. I paid for an operating refrigerator in April, which I have still not received to this day. Business Response CUSTOMER BOUGHT A FRIDG AND NEVER CALLED TO COMPLAIN. HE CAME INTO THE STORE AND BOUGHT ANOTHER FRIDG. WHILE HE WAS THERE HE TOLD ME HIS OTHER FRIDG WAS DRIPPING WATER FROM FREEZER INTO FRIG AREA. HE SAID IT WASNT A BIG DEAL BUT HIS [redacted] WAS DRIVING HIM CRAZY AND HE WOULD PAY TO FIX IT. I TOLD HIM IT WAS AFTER HIS 2 MONTH WARRANTY BUT THAT HE STILL HAD A PARTIAL WARRANTY. OUR PARTIAL WARRANTY IS 50.00 PLUS THE PART. I WENT OUT AND TOOK A LOOK AT IT AND CLEANED AND ADJUST THE DRAIN IN THE FREEZER. 3 WEEKS OR SO LATER WE GOT A CALL SAYING IT WAS STILL DRIPPING BUT NOT AS BAD AND I SAID HOW ABOUT I JUST GIVE YOU ANOTHER FRIG WHICH WE ENDED UP DOING AT NO CHARGE. ABOUT 3 WEEKS OR SO LATER HIS [redacted] CALLED SAYING SOME OF THE STUFF IN THE FRIG WAS FREEZING MY EMPLOYEE EXPLAINED THAT IT HAS BEEN WELL OVER SIX MONTHS AND ACCORDING TO OUR CONTRACT IT WOULD NOW BE 50.00 PLUS THE PART. SHE WAS UNHAPPY RUDE AND WANTED TO SPEAK TO ME THE OWNER. I SAID THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO. I DID NOT DISHONOR OUR CONTRACT OUR CONTRACT STATES THE FIRST 60 DAYS ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE FREE AFTER 60 DAYS IT WOULD COST 50.00 PLUS THE PART. I WILL AT THIS POINT WAVE THE 50.00 JUST TO HELP A LITTLE BUT THEY MUST STILL PAY FOR THE PART IN ADVANCE AND THEN I WILL SEND OVER A TECH TO REPAIR IT. THIS IS A USED FRIG NOT NEW THAT WAS PURCHASED FOR ONLY 190.00. Consumer Response I never received the business' response to my complaint. Apparently they responded and it says I was notified and accepted the outcome. I was never notified, nor is this complaint closed. Please advise ASAP.Consumer Response My response is as follows. We did call to complain about the leaking fridge repeatedly and left messages with the receptionist (I think her name was [redacted]) at the time all within the original 60 day warranty period. We also repeatedly followed up since we didn't hear back. When my husband was finally connected with the owner, they implied that the receptionist was basically let go because she wasn't taking appropriate messages. We then started dealing with the new receptionist, [redacted]. It took them weeks to come out and attempt to fix the leaking fridge because they keep not showing up for the appointments. When they finally showed, they attempted repair. After a few days, we notified them the problem was not fixed - the fridge was still leaking. They told us they would give us a replacement fridge. It took them one to two months to replace the fridge, because they had to wait for a comparable one. After the replacement, the fridge began to freeze all our food. We notified them that this fridge was also broken. [redacted], the receptionist, told us it was past the 60 day warranty period (from the original purchase) and we would need to pay to have them fix it. I informed [redacted] in a completely professional manner that I wanted to speak to the owner as we were never actually given a fridge that worked back in April and that they were attempting to remedy the situation the entire time - therefore, why would my warranty period be over when I never received a fridge that worked initially. The first fridge was broken, and was replaced with the second fridge, which was also broken. Any delay, in terms of the months it took to sort out this issue, was caused on the part of Metal Men in that they repeatedly failed to show up for the appointments made, failed to replace the fridge until months later, and failed to respond to our repeated requests for repair. I paid $220 total for the appliance ($190 for the fridge, $30 for delivery.) In addition, the owner NEVER called me back and always gave messages for [redacted] to give to me. Yes it is true that this was a used fridge, but it is also true that they removed my existing broken used fridge, gave me the first broken used fridge and then replaced it with a second broken used fridge. Therefore, I still have a broken fridge, but have paid them $220.00 for essentially nothing. [redacted]. [redacted] & [redacted], [redacted] XXXXX* (XXX) XXX-XXXX* (XXX) XXX-XXXX

Company doesn't answer the phone, doesn't return calls, didn't respond to email. Is, in general, avoiding doing warranty work for me.I bought a used clothes dryer GE P/N: DHDSR46EE0WW April 2, 2013 from Metal Men Appliances of Springfield, MA for $185. I chose them because they offer a warranty, won a "Best of" award and claim they test and inspect their appliances before selling them. I got my dryer home and it didn't function (broken belt) It took two weeks of persistent (sometimes two or three times a day) phone calls before I finally got the repair man here to replace the belt. While he was working on the dryer, he found the front bearing assembly and sliders worn (destroyed). He told me he had some of them on order for stock and when they arrived that he would get them to me. A month went by and now I can't get them to respond to calls. I even used their online contact form to try to get their attention. The dryer is now vibrating badly and squeaking due to the far deteriorated front bearing.Desired SettlementMy demands are simple and I've offered them very convenient options. I'm a corporate jet mechanic. I can replace the worn parts myself for them. Their convenient options are:-Pay me the $28 it will cost for me to order the parts.-They get the parts and I pick them up at their store.-They get the parts and bring them to me.-They come install the new parts, which is what they should do and it shouldn't take me pounding on their door to get it to happen.Business' Initial Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]CUSTOMER CAN EITHER RETURN DRYER OR I CAN SEND HIM A CHECK FOR 28.00 TO PAY FOR PART. I ORDERED PART 3X AND THE [redacted] SENT THE WRONG PART. IF HE WANTS MONEY JUST PLEASE GIVE ME CORRECT NAME AND ADDRESS TO SEND CHECK TOConsumer's Final Response I received a phone call from someone at Metal Men Appliances during my work day. When I got home, I returned the call and was told that the owner of the company wanted to talk to me and would call me back in 15 minutes. I never received a return call. I called them several more times that week and left messages, none of which have been answered. The dryer became inoperable about a week and a half ago. The drum wore all the way through the front bearing retainer and shorted out on the frame of the dryer, causing the circuit breaker in the basement to open. I could no longer use the dryer. I bought the replacement parts and installed them myself and now the dryer functions, but where it shorted out is causing a rubbing sound as the arced areas passes over the bearing slides. I will no longer seek them out for repair. I feel I would be foolish to expect anything from them.

I PURCHASED A FRIDGE FROM METAL MAN APPLIANCE ON JULY 20TH. I HAVE HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER WHEN DEALING WITH A COMPANY.I PURCHSED THIS FRIDGE ON THE INTENT I WAS GETTING A GOOD DEAL $290.00.I PAID CASH FOR THE FRIDGE.THEY SET UP THE DELIVERY FOR THE FRIDGE ON WEDS. JUL 24TH TWO DAYS AFTER THE FRIDGE STOPPED WORKING I CONTACTED THEM THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD SEND SOMEONE TO REPAIR THE FRIDGE I CALLED MONDAY AND THEY TOLD ME SOMEONE WOULD COME TO REPAIR THE FRIDGE HE DID NOT COME OUT UNTIL WEDNESDAY.HE SUPPOSLY FIXED THE FRIDGE BUT ON FRIDAY THE FRIDGE STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. I WENT UP TO THE PLACE TOLD THEM I WOULD PICK OUT ANOTHER FRIDGE AND PAY THE DIFFERENCE BECAUSE THE REPAIR PERSON HAD BEEN THERE TWICE AND THE FRIDGE WAS NOT FIXED.HE TOLD ME HE HAD TO SPEAK TO HIS BOSS AND THEY WERE GONNA MAKE IT RIGHT.I KEPT CALLING BETWEEN MY DAUGHTER AND I AND NO RESPONSE.MEANWHILE ALL MY FOOD HAS SPOILED AND I COULD NOT KEEP MY INSULIN COOL.I DID NOT HAVE A FRIDGE DELIVERED UNTIL AUGUST 19TH ALMOST A MONTH LATER.AFTER THIS FRIDGE GETS IN MY HOUSE IT IS MISSING A SELF AND A DRAW.I FEEL HE JUST GAVE MY ANY FRIDGE AND TO TOP IT OFF THERE IS BABY ROACHES INSIDE THE FRIDGE. I CALLED AND TOLD THE SALEGUY TUES AUG 20TH 2013 HE SAID THAT HE WOULD CONTACT HIS BOSS AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN.I DO NOT HAVE ANY ROACHES IN MY HOUSE BUT NOW WHEN THERE IS SOME THEY BECOME MANY.THEY ARE GONNA BE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING THESE ROACHES OUT OF MY HOUSE AND THSI FRIDGE.Desired SettlementI TRIED TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUES WITH THE COMPANY BUT AT THIS POINT I WANT A REFUND AND TO GET THIS ROACH INFESTED FRIDGE OUT OF MY HOUSE.
