Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/07/21) */
There are several inaccuracies in the customer complaint. One there is no [redacted] that works here. Second [redacted] was not the one who called [redacted] Carpet Cleaning, he had someone do it on his behalf, who did not relay all the information to...

him. The woman who called was told [redacted] plus ** per stair and any additional work for high traffic or heavily soiled areas would be an additional charge. She did not relay the additional charges to [redacted] nor the cost for the stairs. The entire house needed a treatment that we charge [redacted] an area for due to the cost of the chemicals on our end and the cost per area cleaned is also a little less than [redacted] so the estimate of a basic steam clean would double. [redacted] was advised that the carpets needed the extra treatment that was [redacted] per area several times. [redacted] refused to pay more than [redacted] We agreed to do the basic steam clean with no guaranty on the results for [redacted] the price we quoted his associate, but [redacted] once again refused to pay more than [redacted] since we could not agree on the price and because [redacted] had declared that he expected the carpets to be clean with the basic we decided to pass ** performing the work.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/07/31) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Metro Denver Carpet Cleaning apparently did not read the Complaint. Their quoted prices were stated in the Complaint. I stated their total quoted price was $211 ($175 basic carpet cleaning plus $36 for the stairs). Metro's web site still advertises "whole house" carpet cleaning for $175 (up to 8 rooms). My home fell within these advertised guidelines. Upon Metro's arrival at the home, Metro switched their carpet cleaning charge to $481. I told them I would only have them do the basic home carpet cleaning ($175) and not have them do the stairs since they had been covered/protected with a plastic carpet runner and were clean. Metro refused to do the basic carpet cleaning for $175 saying that their best price was $481 (including stairs). I refused this charge and they departed. To advertise whole house (up to 8 rooms)carpet) cleaning for $175 and then refused to do it for that price saying that the carpet needed "special treatment" is, in my opinion, deceptive advertising. As I stated in my original Complaint, the company that ultimately did the carpet cleaning said the carpet was "average" dirty and did not need special treatment. This company did the carpet cleaning for their quoted price. This company did not "bait & switch" their quoted price as Metro did.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2015/08/12) */
I did read the customer complaint and there are two reasons why we did not provide services. One the customer wanted us to guarantee the carpets would be clean with the basic cleaning and we could not do that. Second, the customer stated many times he would pay no more than $175 and our estimate was $211 for a basic cleaning. Our inability to agree on a price and expectations caused us to pass ** the job as we felt this customer would be a problem in the future and as you can see we were right.
