FllSt, let me say that my name is [redacted], not [redacted]. I have had this business
for over 25 years and feel that I have treated my customers honestly and fairly during
that time. Because the vehicles I sell not only come from prior customers, but also
from the auto auctions,...

I include with each sale a limited 50/50 warranty for 3 months
or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first, provided that aU work be done at my shop.
This was included in the sale to this customer.
In response to the complaint you received from my customer I would like to state the
following.
I personally drove the 2004 Ford F150 pickup numerous times prior to it being
purchase and feel that it was a very good I'used" vehicle, even though it was 10 years
old and had 150,000 miles.
The customer drove the vehicle, prior to his purchase, to pick his wife up from work.
There was no mention of any issues he had with the vehicle. He had the opportunity
to have the vehicle inspected prior to his purchase.
Approximately 2-3 weeks later he came in and stated to [redacted], the mechanic and
salesperson, that he put on new brakes, axel seals and tires. [redacted] stated that he should
have brought the vehicle back to our shop under the warranty because he was sure
that I would have fixed it. Apparently the work was not done yet, but I did talk to
the mechanic that the customer was taking it to and told him to let me know what the
bill would be and that I would pay for the brakes and seal. I paid the entire bill, not
just the 50/50, even though I was not obligated as the work was not done at my shop.
I am including a copy of the check. Apparently he wanted new tires on the truck and
that was his choice.
In June the customer came to my lot and showed me a sheet of paper he stated he got
from a Ford garage (it was not an estimate form nor did it have a company name on
the piece of paper). The customer stated that the vehicle needed a lot of work. It has
now been almost 6 months since he purchased the vehicle and the warranty was no
longer in effect.
The customer stated that the air bag light was on and that it is lIillegal to sell a vehicle
with faulty airbag" My question is Uwhy was it not on when the customer took it for
a test drive and if it was, would he not have required it to be repaired before he
purchased the vehicle" The light was never on when I drove the vehicle.
I NEVER told the customer that the vehicle was Iinot inspected prior to putting the
truck up for sale" There was a W18consin Buyers Guide form showing the inspection
and the customer signed the form at the time of the purchase.
Further, why would a mechanic, who owns the equipment, and has been a mechanic
all of his life, state that he did not understand codes when put on a diagnostic check.
I would assume that is what a mechanic does with his equipment.
I sold the customer a good used truck. I cannot try to figure out what, if anything,
will go wrong with a vehicle one day, one month or 6 months after it is purchased. I
feel I went over and above by paying for a bill that was done at another shop, for
which I was not required to pay. The customer himself stated that he put on 300
miles before the list of repairs had to be done, so the repairs that he had done were
out of my control and I do not feel that I am liable for any costs.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I read [redacted]'s response to my complaint and was not surprised with the answers he gave. The truck does not have 150,000 miles on it, it actually had 134,789 miles on it when purchased. Yes, there was a warranty on the vehicle, limited 50/50 for 3 months or 3000 miles. You are also suppose to have a mechanic that can fix the issues that go wrong with a vehicle that are covered under that warranty. [redacted] did not know what the diagnostic error code meant when the truck was brought back to him to check. Therefore, the error light was cleared out by [redacted]. The airbag light was on when I drove the truck. [redacted] was made aware that this light was on and he insisted numerous times that it was a seatbelt malfunction. As per the paperwork from EC Ford that was attached to the original complaint, the airbag was malfunctioning and had been since day one. It was not the seatbelt light that was on as [redacted] stated.
On the day that I picked up my wife from work, she noticed that it sounded like a diesel engine....it ticked so to speak. I told her that I noticed that too. When we drove back to [redacted]'s business, my wife and I questioned [redacted] about this noise and he stated that all Ford trucks make this noise. It was a very noticeable and loud ticking noise. She also noticed the airbag light on and I told her about the switch to roll down the passenger window was broken. So as far as bringing it back with no complaints goes, that is untrue.
When the new tires were put on the truck, [redacted] (my mechanic) told me that my brakes and rotors were shot. Before he could put on the tires, he had to fix them. I had [redacted] do all the work. I took the bill down to [redacted] and talked to [redacted] and stated that there is no way that this truck was inspected because the brakes and the rotors were shot and there were cords showing through on the tires. [redacted] did talk to [redacted], but [redacted] ONLY paid $269.95, of a $1261.15 bill. He is not being truthful about how much he paid.
As per EC Ford's invoice, the airbag light was malfunctioning ALONG with the emergency brake. Both of which have to be functioning when selling a vehicle. If the vehicle was inspected correctly by [redacted], these would have been discovered.
[redacted] did state that he was going to make [redacted] pay the bill for the brake job because it was [redacted]'s negligence that brought on this issue. In my opinion, failure to inspect comes to mind.
In the grand scheme of things.... do I think [redacted] should pay for all the repairs, yes I do; any honorable man would. Do I think [redacted] WILL pay the $5157.41 bill, no. This is how [redacted] makes his money. It is very, very obvious by the invoice that was attached with the first complaint that this truck was NOT in any kind of selling condition at the time that we bought it. We have learned a very hard and expensive lesson but we also want other people to know that [redacted]s Auto & Truck is NOT the place to buy a good used vehicle, he is not a man to do business with and he is not an honorable man.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I am sorry we have not replied, but we are waiting for correspondence from the State of Wisconsin regarding the complaint
that Mr. [redacted] sent to them.

When we receive the reply from the State, we will forward a copy to you along with an additional response
