We received your letter regarding Mr. [redacted] and his displeasure with our work. We are, unfortunately, well aware of Mr. [redacted] unhappiness and have discussed this with him extensively. We were hired by Mr. [redacted] home warranty company to accomplish some electrical...

repairs. One of these repairs included a bathroom exhaust fan. The original fan had been installed in the shower, which is a clear violation of electrical codes. This was explained to Mr. [redacted], as well as to the home warranty company.  The fan was rusted, corroded and falling apart. It needed to be removed from the shower and the home warranty company authorized this. Our electrician discussed a new location with Mr. [redacted] and they agreed upon a spot outside the shower. The sheet rock in the bathroom had been improperly installed and finished by a previous owner.  The seams had what appeared to be sticky tape with no mud applied, and the texture was applied directly to the tape, giving it a “finished” appearance.      When our electrician cut into the ceiling to install the exhaust fan, the improperly applied plaster coating had some chips and pieces fall away.  This was unfortunately unavoidable in this situation.  Our electrician explained this to Mr. [redacted] and showed him the improper application of texture on the sheet rock. On January 9, 2017, our Project Manager went to the home for a site visit, due to Mr. [redacted] complaints.  He assessed the situation and took pictures.  He found that the seam is visible across the width of the bathroom and the tape/texture are a little chipped at the new fan install.  He then contacted the home warranty company.  We were hired by the home warranty company and they are paying for our labor on this job.  For this reason, our Project Manager wanted to discuss the situation with them.  The home warranty company made the decision that this plaster and drywall repair would not be covered.  We are very sorry that Mr. [redacted] is still not happy, though we have repeatedly explained that the chips and cracks around the new fan were not due to negligence and were, in fact, a result of poor drywall work.  We do not believe it is our responsibility to repair this and this has been explained to him. Thank you again for providing us with an opportunity to respond. Please let me know if there is anything further that you need from us, [redacted]Office Manager  | Carroll Electric4209 Commercial Drive | Janesville, WI 53545O: 608-756-0094 | C: 608-774-0010
