The first time the customer called regarding this problem was 8/6/and the next opening we had was for 8/25/ The customer expressed that was too long to wait I tried to help over the phone by suggesting to have a friend or neighbor vacuum the vents to the smoke alarms because at that time the triple digit temperatures and smoke from the wildfires were setting off smoke alarmsWhen the email was sent on 8/10/and 8/11/17, I was out of the office When I returned on Monday 8/14/17, I saw the email and forwarded it to my electrician I responded to customer that I had forwarded the message to my electrician regarding replacing hard wire with battery and was told that we cannot downgrade code.As for the warranty, the attached invoice clearly states that there is a year warranty on parts and this is clearly past the warranty period, this is not a workmanship issue

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: She absolutely did not say she would inspect the outlets for freeShe said it would be approximately $to have someone come out just to see what the problem wasAnd she did not say it was because I wasn’t a memberShe said it was because he warranty didn’t transfer to the new owner I would like for them to send someone out, free of charge, to see why the outlets they replaced are still not workingIn addition, no where on the invoice does it say that the warranty of for members or current homeowners It just states that there is a warranty for years on parts and a lifetime warranty on workmanship Sincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:This is the response I received from Metro's Best Electric on 8/ The Electrician is suggesting an upgradeThese smoke detectors are only years and months oldI paid almost to have them installedI sent a response asking them what their proposed cost would be on 8/and they have not replied or called meTheir lack of concern or urgency is unnacceptable Dear [redacted] , The following is from our electrician: “We cannot downgrade code by removing the electric smoke detectors that are hardwired and interfaced with each other and replacing with battery onlyWe also cannot remove the Arc Fault type breakerOur newer style smoke detectors have a much better success rate as far as limited alarmsPerhaps we could upgrade?” It appears that the unit/product has failed The warranty as stated on the invoice is years for the partsThe failure is not due to workmanshipRegards, [redacted] Sincerely, [redacted]

As I tried explaining to this customer, the year warranty is for Diamond Club members who pay a monthly due of 14.95. She is not a club member. I am willing to send someone out to as the outlets in question, however I am not able to guarantee that there will not be a charge to fix
said outletsThere may be many reasons the gfci outlets are needing to be reset, including over loading the circuitThe customer wanted a guarantee of no charge and I could only guarantee to as the outlets free of charge

It appears the customer has accepted the offer to access the problem with the gfci with no charge for the accessment
