Review: Remodel bathroom few years ago and now leaks causing ceiling damage.

Called in handyman to investigate leak in ceiling. After extensive search and involving a plumber it was discovered when bathroom was remodeled the drain from the new tub was not align correctly with the drain pipe. Putty was used to bridge the gap. Putty deteriorated causing slow leak over the years. Now pipes must be realign. Believe this is an issue that should have never occurred. If it had not leaked through the ceiling have no clue how this would have been discovered. As a consumer would think a company that specializes in bathroom remodeling should align pipes correctly. Contacting Revdex.com since see no where to send a complaint.Desired Settlement: Would like reimbursement of costs I am ensuing for moving pipes and ceiling repair.

I am rejecting this response because:

On 09/13/2013, I emailed **. [redacted] a photo of the invoice I received in regards to the work. He confirmed via email that he received it. I informed him that I expected the work would be done the week of the 16th.

Review: My issue is not with non-delivery of service but rather with an excessive charge for the service rendered. I sent the following letter to the company president and received no answer.

Sir:

My wife and I went to Metropolitan Bath and Tile located at 11132 Rockville Pike on October 19 where we selected material to be used in a bath remodel. We paid a deposit of $5600. Due to what we had been told during this visit we decided to try a second business location to see if they could give us a better deal. This second business sent a representative to our house the following Friday (25 Oct). They were able to offer a more complete remodel for a lower price. I believe I called Metropolitan that day to notify them that we had decided to go elsewhere.

Unfortunately neither my wife nor I made note of the day of this call and it could have been as late as the following Monday (Oct 25). I was told I needed to talk to a manager, who would not be in until the following week, because only she had the authority to return our deposit. Further I was told that only half of the deposit ($2800) would be returned! My attention was drawn to a document we had signed which stated we had three days to cancel the order. Our attention was not drawn to this statement at the time of signing.

I spoke to this manager when she returned and had a pleasant conversation. She said that she would "return our deposit". We received a check from Metropolitan on Nov 15 -- for half of our deposit.

It is difficult to prove what day I called. However, I did receive an email on Oct 30 which states the following.

"Attached is the order to change the start date from Nov.18th to TBD upon your decision to finalize and sign the selections paperwork. Please sign and email back or fax ###-###-####".

This statement indicates to us that the order had not been finalized prior to Nov 30. Further, we have a cost sheet dated 10/22/13 that states "All contract selections and change order addendums must be signed and completed by 10/28/13 to allow ample time for delivery of materials to start your project on time." We did not sign this form.

Regardless, it does not seem reasonable to me that Metropolitan expended $2800 of effort or materials toward our remodel over a few days. Both my wife and I believe in paying for services rendered. What services have been rendered? We believe we are paying $2800 for nothing.

This is simply unconscionable.

Thank you for your attention, [redacted].[redacted].[redacted] (###-###-####)Desired Settlement: Return a considerably larger portion of our deposit. Some charge is understandable -- but $2800 is not.
