This was the most unprofessional company I have ever used to move. Here is the letter I wrote to them. 2 months later; still no reply and no payment has been reimbursed for damages!

Metropolitan Movers

I am writing this letter to inform you of various issues that occurred with the movers you provided me with on April 12, 2019. I was disappointed to say the least!
Before starting; I want to say I am basing my opinion on two other moving companies that I have used in the past. Neither of which I had ANY problems with.
The move was scheduled for 9am. Their first call to me was to tell me they were going to be 1 hr late because he had to drop his child off at day care. Aprox 45min later; another call was to tell me they would be at my home shortly and were delayed because someone tried to steal their moving truck, so they had to rent a truck. The contract I received stated they would be required to " disassembling, reassembling tools needed. Blankets & Plastic wrap needed. Dollies & Floor runners." They showed up with ONLY moving blankets!!!!
Their first complaint was I would have to empty a hope chest enable to move it. The items in this chest were never removed in the previous moves. Those previous movers had no problems as they used straps. Something your movers did not have.
Items were not going to get taken apart unless I had tools; as they didn't have theirs. Or they could waste more time... and go get some.
It was indicated when I spoke to your company that the movers were trained professionals. This was very obvious that this was not true. They were unorganized, looked as if they just got out of bed, and spent a great deal of time on their cell phones. They definitely did not know how to pack things in the truck to utilize space and time. It took 3 trips! And this does not include the 2nd stop. Previous movers fit everything into one truck load ( and I had more stuff back then)
In the past; movers that I hired to move me from a 4 bedroom acreage 300 miles away and took less time on average than it took your company to move a way smaller home only a few miles away. Previous movers started at 7am. Loaded, dismantled beds and computer desk, drove 3 hrs to Saskatoon, unloaded, placed all the furniture for me, stacked everything neatly, AND re-assembled beds etc. And were done by 5:30 pm. A total of 10.5hrs . . . and nothing was damaged! Your company charged me for 7.5hrs. Furniture was not placed. Everything was just thrown in disastrous piles. Beds were not assembled. Damages were done. Care was not taken.
*When trying to move my dresser in the master bedroom, they called me to tell me they could not move it as the base was broken! It was not broken to begin with. It had been sitting in the exact same place for 2 yrs from my previous move! But I am pretty sure they drug it away from the wall rather than lifting it. Realizing they had broke it; tried to get out of it by saying it was already damaged. But to further say they could NOT move it; made no sense.
Indoor items where put outside on the deck
*both of my mattress were ripped as they did not stack them in their truck properly. They were placed on sharp metal objects.
Antique desk was not wrapped in blankets. I even told them the desk was from WW1. Consequently the door broke and I have had to glue it back together the best I could.
Decorative large vase pots were not wrapped. And now have chips.
Feathers from my African Grey Parrot were inside a large clay vase. When they removed from the truck, they tipped it over and feathers were dumped out. They did not bother to pick them up. Just left them there. Not caring about the importance of them to me.
*Outside metal plant hanging stands/hooks were THROWN into the truck and tangled up with Shovels, kitchen brooms etc. When the mover tried to take them out of the truck; they were in one big tangled mess. Obviously from frustration, tried to break everything free by jerking the pile up and down trying to free the items. When this did not work; it was gathered up in a big pile and just thrown in the back yard for me to deal with. ( this is where I found my house broom and mop!)
*They dismantled 3 rubbermaid shelving units. All of which were destined to go in the basement. As mentioned; this was another one of those items they did not re-assemble. I found one of the legs upstairs in the master bedroom. And another one in the kitchen. Because when they removed from the truck; they dropped them. One shelf now has a crack in it.
shop vac was put on a shelf above the stairs. No one told them to put it there, so what logic was there to put it in a place I could not reach it.
They indicated that they had to leave by 5pm as the child had to be picked up from daycare by 5:30. So around 4pm - everything was rushed. They started getting rammy and caring even less about what they were doing. When going back for the 3rd load; they indicated there was not much left. I took a walk around and found several items on every level of the town house. Air Conditioner, bed frames, etc. There were 3 crates in the basement that had paint cans, car oil, etc. Rather than telling me they could not transport it; they were just going to leave it there and not tell me. Again; previous movers had no problem as they were crated. I felt your movers were just being lazy near the end and were trying to get out of the extra work.
Upon the 2nd stop and the final unload; they were folding the blankets. About to shut the truck door and I noticed something on the floor of the truck. Pretty obvious to see it as it was the only thing there. Turns out it was a piece from my desk!
Speeding and weaving in and out of traffic during rush hour (as I was behind them when going to the 2nd location) If they would have worked smarter by packing things better in the truck and staying off their cell phones; the job should have been completed in aprox 4 - 5 hrs at the MOST!!!!
When the job was done, the movers told me that there would be a 2% fee if I paid by credit card! This information was not divulged in the contract or when I spoke to your company when placing the order. And was shocked to see that I was paying an electrical company. Not the Metropolitan Movers that I had hired.

BOTTOM LINE.... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!
