Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I have read the MRIS response to my complaint. It is a good recap of the facts, but it does
not address the “better business” issues that are my real concern. When a Realtor retires, he or she generally
does so by not renewing his or her membership in the four or five organizations
to which the Realtor belongs. I
terminated my membership in the *** *** ** ***, the *** *** *** *** ** ***, and the *** system by not paying
the dues which were due after August 15, 2015, and I assumed that it would work
the same way with MRIS. Apparently
not. What really concerns me is that
MRIS informed me about their final billing policy AFTER I informed them that I would not be renewing. Never, during my years’ association with
them, did they ever inform me about their termination policy. I wonder why they require days’ notice to
terminate membership with them when it took them only one day to terminate my
access to their services? I paid the
full amount they asked me to pay ($165), but I got no value in return, since
they terminated my access on August 23, and I was not able to use their system
after that, even though I eventually paid them for service covering August
through October. I have two “better
business” concerns: ONE, I was never informed in advance by MRIS what their
final billing policy is. TWO, I paid for three months’
service, but MRIS cut off all my access to their service three weeks into a
three-month billing period that I paid for.
To settle this issue, I am seeking a full or pro-rated refund of the
$I paid them to terminate my membership, and I would like MRIS to publish
their termination policy to the Realtor community so no one else will get hassled
and threatened with credit and collection action like I was

Close complaint for now,

Tell us why here... I apologize for the delay in responding.  MRIS is a multiple listing service for real estate agents and brokers; subscription to MRIS requires that the agent/broker agree to abide by the National Real Estate rules and regulations, and MRIS rules and regulations.  It is...

the agents/brokers responsiblity to know the rules regarding posting listings.  In the event that the agent violates a rule regarding listing properties, the agent will receive a warning notice and then a fine.  If the violation continues the agent will receive additional fines every 7 days.  All violations and fines are appealable, and if the subscriber doesn’t like the result of the appeal they can request a panel review.  [redacted]'s fines totaled $1300 by the time the violation was corrected.  His appeal was denied and he requested a panel review, the panel decided to reverse the last three fines, which waived $600.00 of the $1300.00 due.  The subscriber contends that the notices and violations were not received.  MRIS communicates to subscribers via the email that they have on file with the company, it is the subscriber’s responsibility to check spam and or update MRIS if there is an email change.  We received no request from the subscriber to update his email.  All payments for subscription dues and fines are non-refundable as per the subscription agreement that was signed by [redacted]. Timeline: 11/4/16 - warning notice11/11/16 - $100 fine11/21/16 - $200 fine11/30/16 - $200 fine12/7/16 - $200 fine12/14/16 - $200 fine12/21/16 - $200 fine12/29/16 - $200 fine1/4/17 - appeal received1/5/17 - appeal denied1/9/17 - panel request received and confirmed1/12/17 - panel held1/13/16 - $600 outstanding fine stopped, panel response sent and customer responded

I am rejecting this response because: I've already tried this & no one is doing anything about it.
Regards,
[redacted]

Tell us why The subscriber was fined for having text on his photos on listing, this information was provided to him in the original warning and the notices that were emailed to him.  If he would like a copy of his subscription agreement he can request a copy from MRIS's customer support center and the rules and regulations are always available at [redacted].  MRIS's policy is to notify the subscriber via email if there is a compliance issue, to the email address on file.   Although the subscriber is unhappy with the fine, he has not contended that the listing did not violate the rules and regulations.  This is a business to business relationship, and as the business person he is required to know the rules and regulations for his industry and for his subscription to MRIS.  Please note that as courtesy MRIS waived $600.00 of the $1300.00.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Based on the I signed agreement, there is no regulation and rule on the agreement (See page 2-8 of attachment). The agreement have regulation and rules which I have never signed (See page 9-23), therefore, MRIS should not post fine on my credit for my first time I didn't know. I am not responsible for the agreement I have not signed. I request refund back to me. I have posted a listing on the MRIS , I got fine on my credit card, $100 on 11/08/2016, $200 on 12/21/2016, $200 on 12/29/2016 and $ 200 on 01/06/2017 total $700 (See page 12).  I called MRIS on 01/06/2017, and MRIS representative Monique who said that I posted photos has Long and Foster free standing Sign on the property, the Photos cannot have text on it. I said that I didn't know, she said that MRIS have sent me Subsequent Fine Notice by e-mail. I said I have never received Subsequent Fine Notice until 01/06/2017. You sent me fine notice by many e-mails, if I didn't respond to you, you should give me a call or send me a certified mail, make sure I have received notice prior to post the fines on my credit card. I always make a calls after I e-mail to some parties or clients, if he/she doesn't respond to me to make sure he/she got me e-mail and she said that they don’t do that. I also indicated that It is illegal to post the fines on my credit card without my consent, I give you the credit card account just for quarterly payment, not for something else beyond quarterly payment. When I signed MRIS agreement, there is no MRIS Rules and Regulations mentioned on the agreement (See page 2). I don’t even know MRIS has Rule and Regulations and what is the MRIS Rules and Regulation.  MIRS e-mailed me 2017 agreement which including MIRS Rules and Regulation which I have never signed 2017 agreement. They accused me violation not based on I signed agreement, based on 2017 agreement which I have never signed. I filed appeal twice to MRIS, MRIS approved waiver of my fine (See page 9), but I got email from MRIS that MRIS fine me $1,300 (I even don’t know how they calculated), MRIS wavier unpaid $600, but $700 I have paid is not waived (See Page 23).ConclusionI felt I have been treated unfired, MRIS charge $700.00 I don’t even know what the violation is, and they keep saying I signed agreement which don’t have any Rules and Regulation mentioned on it, even don’t indicated any link to the Rules and Regulation. Therefore, I request a formal investigation to help me to get $700 refund  Regards,

Review: Purchased website from mris which was supposed to provide additional designs which were not accessable. Tried to cancel first thing in the morning and rep refused to change the product back even though the product was not availble. Also, it was supposed to include certain marketing materials per their advertisements which is does not do. In addition the funtionality is not user friendly, hard to understand and text is too small to read. It will take a computor expert to set this up and get the value out of this website.Desired Settlement: I would like to rescind this offer and recieve a refund. I feel this product was falsely advertised and mis-represented.

Review: On 31 December, 2013, I retired from the real estate business. Subsequently, I received notice from the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc (MRIS) that my automated payment for $165 for the 1st quarter or 2014 had been processed. I sent an email on 7 January explaining my situation and requesting a cancellation of the $165 charge. The MRIS response included the following comment:

"To avoid the billing of your quarterly subscription fee, written cancellations are required prior to the date of your next billing cycle. Because this written request to discontinue your service was sent after December 31, 2013, at 5:00PM the payment is non-refundable."

I was not aware of this policy, perhaps through my own fault or because it is not published (or poorly disseminated). I can see, however, where matching this policy up with an automated payment system could be very lucrative for MRIS.Desired Settlement: Please contact MRIS. Their phone # is ###-###-#### and discuss this matter with them and let me know the outcome of your contact with them. I can be reached at ###-###-####.
