Case #26069644: [redacted]
I was contacted by [redacted] to come out and fix a previous contractor's work. She was not happy with the way that they had installed the product. She explained that she wanted to spend as...

little as possible. The previous contractor installed glue up panels, but they were too short and had many seams in it. I explained to her that a fiberglass shower unit would work and look much better, but she did not want this because she did not want to spend more money and it would have covered her window. I explained the only other option would be to do another glue up panel, but one that would be long enough to not have the seams in it. She agreed with this.
The top of it was not caulked due to a conversation with the customer. We offered to repair the drywall above the shower (mud, sand, paint) but she stated that she would handle that on her own. The caulking is done after that. Had we caulked it she would not have been able to mud up to the shower wall.
As far as the toilet, she had purchased the toilet herself. It was sitting there, so we installed while we were at the job. She later told us that she was not ready for it to be installed. We did NOT charge her for installing the toilet because of this. If she wants to return the toilet for a different one, we can come and uninstall it and install a new one, but we would have to charge for the labor on this, since we never charged it in the first place.
I have tried to work with this customer to the best of my ability. I billed her at a very low rate because I felt sorry for her and the work that the previous contractor had done.
I do not feel this should be a bad report against the business, because I feel that she would not be happy no matter what was done.
Sincerely,
[redacted] Renovation

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2017/03/26) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
On the day [redacted] came over to give me a quote, I did say I did not want to spend a lot more on the material for the shower. I also said that if it was necessary to spend more than I would so it would be done right this time. The material [redacted] used is what [redacted] picked out. [redacted] said in an earlier email "that's what you get with any walls that you caulk to the walls" Others have come over to take a look and they all say the same thing. This was not done correctly. As far as the toilet was in the basement in a box. [redacted] was told at our first meeting that I DID NOT want them to install it. The day it was installed, [redacted] should of had his crew take the new one out and put the old one back. Now, because of his unprofessional job, I have to hire yet another contractor. What a disappointment.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2017/04/06) */
Our company will give the customer a refund of [redacted] This will more than cover the cost of a new toilet and she can use the extra amount towards new materials if she would like.
We stand behind our original response, but would like to have this matter settled. This is our final offer.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I accept this offer. However, I prefer a money order,
