MI-BOX St. Louis Reviews (%countItem)

I was hospitalized recently with a Hemorrhage Bleed and received intensive therapies and furthermore, still receiving therapies. With this knowledge of my disability, I was intimidated and taken advantage of in my vulnerable and weak state. At the very beginning, I was given a much lower quote which was later inflated.

I have received threatening phone calls, texts and threats to foreclose and auction off all my belongings, only to discover that this company does NOT exist as a lawfully registered corporation in the state of Missouri.

This is in violation of FDCPA 1692(e), as well as MISSOURI Merchandising Practice Act.

I'm asking that remedy be granted to investigate this misrepresented company that have stolen from me as a Consumer and confiscated all my personal belongings.

I've been taken advantage of and mistreated and request a thorough investigation.

I am receiving threatening voicemails from this company.

MI-BOX St. Louis Response • Dec 05, 2019

The customer's home had been purchased by a developer. The developer is the one who originally paid for the first month of storage, and unfortunately, found themselves paying consecutive months, on the container as well as the moving and packing of the items within her home to the mobile container. The developer then gave Miss Ezenwa money to continue to pay her bills and find a new home to live in. With us, no pricing was ever inflated nor was there a rent increase of any kind. She has been charged what we charge every customer and all charges, with the exception of one (1) month of storage, has been paid by the developer directly. We do not believe the customer was taken advantage of due to the fact that she personally signed all three (3) contracts for the containers, plus the contract for the storage totes. We have these signed contracts on file to provide as necessary. She was not threatened or harassed, we just simply stated and abided by the Missouri State Lien Laws, letting the client know that in accordance with procedure, we desperately were attempting to make contact to satisfy balances due so her items were not auctioned. She has been unable and/or unwilling to pay what is due. We have made several attempts to contact her via phone, text, e-mail, and physical mail, with no response. Also, regarding her statement that we are not a lawfully registered corporation in Missouri, we are listed as BMH Storage, Inc. D/B/A Mi-Box Mobile Storage. Therefore, we are not in violation of the code in which she accused us of. Proof can be provided upon request if need be. Unless we receive payment in full, we will continue following procedure as law requires per the state of Missouri and her items will be publicly sold. Thank you

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Developer purchased my home in April 2019 and as agreed upon, I consistently paid rent on time till end of August 2019. Unfortunately, I was hospitalized. I had a week and half at the end of August to vacate my home with no consideration to my state of well being. Developer paid the Mi-Box Mobile Moving and Storage, also known as College Hunks, Tenant Displacement Relocation cost for moving my possessions and one month storage. Note, it is false that Developer found themselves paying consecutive months, on the container.
In good faith, I paid $900 October rental, still not understanding the details of the inflated bill. The two containers that I signed for had $188 per 16x8x8 container on the contract. I was only given 2 contracts to sign. When I came to pay, I was told the containers were $200 each and that I had 3 containers.
Preparing to pay $600, the manager suddenly announced the $300 more that need to be added ($100 per container) for the plastic totes. Mi-Box Mobile extorted that extra money from me.

Note: There was no contract for the plastic totes. The first set of totes ($60 cash) was completely paid for. How can the second set jump from $60 to $300? When the manager suggested that I should move the contents of the third container to either the first or second, thereby, eliminating the cost of the third container. I complied. I was so surprised to see the small, 8x8x8, half of the full container. Upon opening the container, it was filled up with U-Haul boxes and other packaging boxes. There was no single plastic tote in the third container. I then recalled that when the movers called the manager and asked for totes, they were denied. When I started asking questions about why I should pay the same price as the other two containers, he became angry and walked away because; I’m catching up on all the lies.

Like I said, I was taken advantage of. I had a Hemorrhage Bleed which resulted in the disability with memories among other things. Looking at the receipts from the payment I made, I saw that the $300 that I paid, for the plastic totes, was changed to 300 blankets at a rate of $1 each. Note again, there was not a single blanket in any of the containers. Why should the company lie?

I received an invoice of $625 for November which excluded the plastic totes. I sent a message that I’m coming in to pay for that. Quickly, the amount I owe changed to $1,900, from a text I received from the manager and the outline definitely included the plastic totes. Why should the company eliminate the totes and turn around and ask me to pay $600, the inflated cost of the inflated and bogus contract.

Developer mentioned totes, owner mentioned totes, and manager also mentioned totes and company receipt information with my payment showed blankets.
The saddest thing is the constant harassing calls and voicemails. I was taken advantage of from the very beginning and certainly the company didn’t think twice about defrauding a person with disability.

Sincerely
