We bought a hybrid diamond ring and it chipped, so they replaced it with another hybrid diamond and it scratched. They are mis-marketing these stones. It’s heartbreaking to have your engagement ring be a total piece of garbage.

I bought a “Princess Cut Hybrid” ring set in a solitaire setting, the band is platinum. The ring was bought by my fiance in December of 2016 and he proposed March 2017. The price was $1796.00 for the ring. I had been having issues with the setting getting loose in January 2018 so I sent it in to the company for tightening. One month after getting the ring back it became loose again. We sent it back and it turns out the stone was chipped and the setting was loose again. I repeatedly cleaned it and tried to check it. We spent $55 to replace the stone. This is not including the two times they required us to pay for shipping.
It is now 1 month after getting this new stone set and on my finger and the setting is once again loose. I brought it into a local reputable jeweler. There were many flaws with this ring. First of all when the Master Jeweler, who is also the owner of the shop looked at it he noticed the head (prongs) were the cheapest option, and would not work to set this very large stone in. He said it was paper thin, and the prongs caved in. He explained that with how large the stone was the platinum was too soft and too thin to hold it tight enough. He then went on to say that what I thought was a Hybrid stone (online Miadonna claims it has the hardness of a Sapphire stone) is actually softer than a CZ stone, and the stone isn't worth any more than $15. He showed me on the machine used to test stones hardness and it barely bounced off the front line. He then proceeded to show me a Sapphire, Ruby, and diamond. All of his stones were in the accurate location on the machine. The last point I would like to make is this stone is advertised as a Princess cut stone, I was shown a real Princess cut stone and this is FAR from a Princess cut. The table on top of the stone is not proportioned and cut to a Princess cut. We were charged a total of $771 for a $15 stone! I paid $1851 for a ring that is worth close to nothing.

Customer wore their ring for approximately one year before sending in to us for stone tightening. We tightened the stone, cleaned and polished the ring, and return shipped to them. The customer paid for shipping to and from our location and nothing for the polish and tightening. While the ring was in transit, the customer reached out to ask if we had "done anything about the chip in their stone". We not been informed prior to receiving the ring for tightening that there was a chip, and did not note any significant damage to the center stone once we received. The Diamond Hybrid is a simulant, not a real carbon diamond, so it is possible to accidentally damage a stone during a year of wear. We reach out to customers if we receive a ring for repair services and notice center stone damage that is significant, and affects the beauty of the stone or its ability to stay securely in the setting. We informed the customer that we did not see any chips during the center stone tightening, but we would be able to evaluate it if it were to be sent back in to us for this service.

The customer did not reply back to this email, but called approximately a week or two later to let us know the stone had loosened again (but confirmed it was tightened when they received it). We provided a shipping label to send back in - the customer did not pay to ship this back to us, nor did they pay for the return shipping back on the second repair. We covered it both ways.

When the ring was received it had some significant gouges and scratches in the prongs, and one in particular was very large and led directly to a chip on the side of the stone. The amount of wear the ring showed was abnormal for having it back only 1.5 weeks- this was not signs of normal wear and tear, as evidenced in the images that are attached. You can also see in the images that the prongs are not paper thin, these are solid and secure platinum prongs and we did not find any defects or issues when we receive the ring the first or second time.

The Diamond Hybrid® is not a CZ stone, and it is not softer than CZ. We have third party verification from the Global Gem Lab (a company that also grades mined diamonds) to both our technology and chemical make up claims. The Diamond Hybrid does not test positive on a diamond tester, which we disclose on our website and to any customer who asks. Only pure carbon diamonds test positive on diamond testers. There are some tests to confirm precious gems like rubies and sapphires - the Diamond Hybrid® is neither of these so it will not test as such.

Diamonds have varying cut grades - the Diamond Hybrid is not a diamond, so our Princess cuts are all made uniform. When compared to an earth mined diamond it may appear to be more shallow or deeper, it just depends on the cut of the diamond being compared. All our shapes are cut to ideal/standard proportions.

We are happy to tighten the center stone and check the setting once again and pay the shipping to and from our location. However, as evidenced in the images attached, the ring is not being worn normally - it exhibited large amounts of wear and tear for such a short period of time. If it continues to be worn in this way, it will continue to loosen, and that would be the case with a ring from us or any other company.
