Review: I had six dinning room chairs reupholstered and they were made too small.The original six pads were left at the store, measurements were taken and they were still made too small. I've called the store and none of my calls were returned. I would appreciate if they could correct this problem and make me six new chair pads that fit properly.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate if the Micalizzi Furniture Restoration will make me six new pads that will fit my dinning room chairs properly at no cost to me.

Response:

I reached out to [redacted] as soon as we received the letter. John spoke with her husband, who told him he was not aware of a problem. A message was left for her to return our call. Pat stated that she tried on numerous occasions to contact us via phone during the time period after Memorial Day weekend, to tell us the cushions did not fit in tightly enough to her chairs. We had left the seat cushions with her husband. He installed them the first time. We had not gotten any of those messages.

Review: I left 2 Parsons dining room chairs to be recovered on [redacted]/13. They were delivered in Nov. and was very dissatisfied. He and his worker came at an earlier time than I expected and I felt he was rushing out the door when he arrived. I made a comment that the seam on the top corner was bulky; he wasn't pleased that I was complaining. After he left I sat in the chair and felt the wood base of the seat. I immediately called him to come back, and he said he was too far and would call tomorrow; how far could he go in 5 minutes? I had to call him several times, left numerous messages, and finally I bought the chairs back to the shop. His uncle was watching the shop (the elder Mr. [redacted] refurnished a Chinese antique chest that was done to perfection), when I showed him the chairs he said he had no comment. I could tell by his expression he was surprised at the workmanship. The chair has a large bulge on the side of the leg, he made a front seam going up the legs and it ends at the seat with a pointed seams sticking out; not done by a professional. He called me a day or two before Thanksgiving and said the chairs are ready; all he did was put a little more stuffing on the seat. He asked if I was satisfied and I said no, they need to be redone, what's with this seam? He made a face and walked away from my husband and me. I've called numerous times and left numerous messages, not once did he call me back. I got him once on the phone, he asked me to wait to April because new fabrics were coming, I said ok. My husband told me to call him back, get the chairs done in the fabric we picked; I left that message. No response. Another message I said if you can't do the chairs, refund me the $700. I paid. I finally left a message on April 13, 2014, you have 10 days to respond or I'll take action. That is why I am contacting you, today is May 1st, and I have had no response. He still has my chairs in his shop, so they are a constant reminder that they have to be redone. No way to run a business.Desired Settlement: I would like my $700. returned. When I was in his shop there was a couch going out, I lifted the plastic covering to see the workmanship. That couch was done to perfection. I have no idea why he allowed my chairs to be delivered in that condition. I do have pictures of the chairs. I also bought in my Parsons chair to match the fabric and showed him how it should look. returned his redone chairs with my good chair for comparison, they thought they were different chairs, they aren't.

Response:

I had reached out to Mrs. [redacted] shortly after I began working for Micalizzi, some time in late June or early July, as soon as I came upon the complaint. I explained to her that I was recently hired and that I wanted to resolve this issue for her as soon as possible. We made an appointment for her and her husband to come out and look at some different fabrics for the chairs. They already had selected a pattern and thought that possibly a new fabric would also work. After some conversation, it was decided upon to re order the same fabric they had selected. At this time I believe they had another chair already completed. They brought that chair in the shop so that we can use it as a sample for the desired outcome. I took pictures of the chair also. The fabric was ordered, the chairs were redone. John delivered them and felt that they were satisfied.
