Michael Johnson Drywall Reviews (1)

Absolutely terrible work!! Drywall is suppose to have three coats of spackle, he says three and only puts on two. Sanding job was horrible!! Sanders did a rush job and missed areas. They sanded with a machine that is set way to high that they actually burned the paper on the drywall. With four coats of paint and primer you can still see EVERY seam. Mike will NOT answer phone calls or texts and he does NOT stand behind his work. He pressed to get paid in full before the job was complete. I paid him in full after he did his cleanup. His costumer service is terrible. My wife contacted him about while he was pressing us to pay him, and at first he hung up on her. She called back and he started yelling and saying "he knew he shouldn't have ever taken this job because it has been nothing but a pain in his rear end". (but used another word). After two weeks of calling him with no luck, a mutual party contacted him and said it needed to get fixed. He sent out two guys that just do spackling. They did a decent job but still wasn't correct. No one came back to do the sanding. I am forced to re-do the entire ceiling in order to make it right. This is a new construction home that I am building and his poor work has put me way behind and has cost me about $1000 in material and labor to fix. I hope something can be done with this company so no one else has to go thru the head ache. I have still yet to hear from Mike after several more communication attempts.Product_Or_Service: DrywallDesired SettlementI would like to get reimbursed $1,000 for the material and labor I have had to spend in order to correct his "work". I should ask for more since he has put us so far behind which has cost my other contractors time and money waiting on this issue to get resolved.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]Response to Johnson Drywall Complaint via Revdex.comI am sorry to hear about this complaint. My counter complaint is that homeowners should have some knowledge prior to taking on a contractor's position in building a new construction home. A contractor spends many years developing their skills and abilities to build homes. [redacted] listed address on the complaint was a job completed by Johnson Drywall. My company indeed hung, taped, bedded and skimmed the walls and ceiling. Johnson Drywall has been completing jobs this was since 1965; this new home construction was treated no differently. Johnson Drywall hangs the ceilings and walls at the start of the job. Once the walls and ceiling are hung, a first payment is expected. This should amount to half of the total agreed payment. It was known that half of the payment was due after hanging the job and the rest of the payment was due at the finish of the job. [redacted] homeowners at this address paid the first half at the time it was due. After hanging, we started the finishing process: a tape coat, a bed coat and a skim coat. [redacted]n the house was sanded. As in every job, we completed the sanding of all angles, walls and ceilings. [redacted] job was sanded and completed on a Thursday afternoon. When Johnson Drywall contacted the homeowners to inform them that the drywall was complete, except for cleaning, the female homeowner said there was no money available. Upon this answer, my response was "why"? Instead of answering the question or being honest about the money situation, she began to talk rudely and reminded me that there is still trash to be picked up. My reply was, "Yes, that is the plan. We clean all jobs on Friday and put trash in the dumpster. However, tomorrow is Friday and we need to be paid for the materials and labor. [redacted] drywall is complete." Johnson Drywall always cleans the house upon completion. It was important a payment was received in order to accommodate wages and materials. Johnson Drywall had many employees on this job site and materials included thirty-five buckets of mud, fifty corner beads, tape, nails and screws. At this point, there was no payment ready and this did not set well with the business. Clean up was not complete on Friday. However, I took my Sunday to go to the home and scrap, sweep and clean the floors. Also, this gave me a chance to see the male homeowner, who was there while I was cleaning. Seeing the homeowner and talking to him in person gave me assurance that he was happy and satisfied with job. His father, a retired drywall expert even commented that the drywall looked great. While there on Sunday, the homeowner asked me to complete an additional box down the entire length of the kitchen. Agreeing, even after no payment had been received, this was done at no additional charge. That Sunday, I left with the assumption that a payment would be ready on Monday morning. However, on Monday, the homeowners informed me that [redacted] that was now handling their account and would try to get out to the job as soon as possible to check the drywall. This was news to Johnson Drywall and the first that was heard about [redacted] handling the money. At no time during construction was it mentioned [redacted] had to inspect the job in order to receive payment. Some red flags began to appear, and I was concerned about not seeing any further payment for Johnson Drywall's work. For the remainder of the week, Johnson Drywall continued to attempt to receive the payment. [redacted] job was complete, but payment was not. At this point in the job, the homeowners then came back and said [redacted] representative had gone on a vacation. My expectation was that the vacation would last no longer than a week. [redacted]refore, Johnson Drywall was waiting to be reimbursed for the job. [redacted] second week in trying to still collect the final payment, [redacted] representative's vacation became extended. I began to think there would be no payment and frustration set in. Finally, after a month went by, [redacted] representative returned from vacation and was able to pay Johnson Drywall. This was a long, drawn out process, which is rare in new construction homes. Even after waiting a month for the final payment, two men were sent out for final touch-ups. No, this was not in a timely manner, but neither was the payment. If the homeowners had been up front with their finances, the job could have been completed differently. In forty-nine years of business, Johnson Drywall has never had a customer write a complaint. [redacted]Johnson Drywall
