Review: Was contacted by [redacted], a Kreiser Rep and was told that my drinking water purification unit needed the tap&saddle replaced since it was 4 years old. I specifically asked if I had to pay for this service as they had scammed me before. I was told that I did not as this service was covered under the Service Maintenance Agreement . The Service Agreement was purchased for $1528 in 2009 for a 5 year period. The service agreement states "no cost for parts, labor, or services for the period of the agreement". The Kreiser Rep came and replaced the tap&saddle and when done told me I owe $150 for the service. I told him that [redacted] had said that the service was cover under my agreement and I would not have had it done if I knew I had to pay. He just said that it was not covered and I had to pay. Being a 70 yr old single woman, I felt threatened and I paid. I talked to the owner, Michael but got no where.Desired Settlement: I would like my $150 returned. I did contact the manufacturer of the unit and was told that the tap&saddle is a clamp that is attached to a pipe . It costs around $8 and should never need replaced.

Review: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: (1) [redacted], A representative from Kreiser's, called me to make an appointment to have the tap&saddle replaced. He said it should be replaced every 3-4 yrs. He did not say that they would like to inspect the system to see if it needed replaced. I specifically asked him if this service was covered under my service agreement. He said yes. If he would have said no I would not have allowed the service. So the part was installed by an act of deception for financial benefit for Kreiser. (2) The attached Service Maintenance Agreement states, no cost for parts, labor or service calls. There are no exceptions except tanks, media & valve. The service rep showed me what he replaced, it was a hard plastic clamp, nothing more. I have attached a picture of the saddle type clamp which supports a small hose. He did not replace the hose. There are no seals involved, no foam or rubber. The clamp (saddle) attaches with screws. The saddle is listed in the manual as being a part of the unit installed by Kreiser. It is not a part of my plumbing. I understand that it costs around $8. (3) The Service Maintenance Agreement does not state any other non-serviceable conditions, i.e. since you did not have your other unit serviced by Kreiser we will not honor your RO unit. He can't make up exception as he chooses. They must be spelled out in the agreement. The attached Systems Maintenance taken from the manual given me by Kreiser lists all necessary maintenance. The manual does not include a tap&saddle. I talked to 3 businesses that service these units and they all state that the saddle usually never needs replaced and said not to worry with it unless there was a problem with the unit. From the Systems Maintenance schedule listed in the manual, it appears that Kreiser has not been providing me with the proper maintenance, they only change the filters once a year. Not a lot of service for $1500. Michael Kreiser is a master at twisting the truth. He needs to be put out of business. I would like to know how many other people he has scammed.

Review: Michael Kreiser's representative ([redacted]) came and serviced my water conditioning system on April 1, 2014. He replaced a membrane(F-M-F) at a cost of $410.01 and filters(BB) at a cost of $150.00 and left a gallon of resup at a cost of $73.99 according to the invoice I received. He said my bill was $634.00. I wrote him a check for that amount. This was more than twice what I had paid the previous year on March 7, 2013 when I had the system serviced($269.95) for the exact same parts. I have doing business with another company for my service work. I do not know how Michael Kreiser's company ended up with my service work, since I have not received a letter indicating the change. When the phone call for the appointment was made, the caller indicated that they were the people who had been servicing my system and needed to schedule a service call. They never said they were from a different company than the one I had been using. This is deception and downright sneaky! It was not until reviewing the invoice later that I realized I had been scammed. Not only were the prices gouged for the products but the total should have been $625.00 not $634.00. The total was not even added correctly. My daughter, who is my legal representative, called and spoke with Mr. Kreiser about the prices and was told that the prices were not inflated. He went on to talk about how long he has been in business and etc. He did not indicate how he got the information to contact me for service work, even when asked how he obtained my contact information. I contacted the original manufacturer of my system and found out the base prices for all these parts, added up to $135.00. He said that was all a lie and that those prices were not accurate. I believe I have been scammed and that this company is price gouging it's customers and customers need to be aware of these business practices.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that $355.00 be removed from my bill of $625.00. My balance due should be $270.00. I am also requesting that this company never contact me again for the purpose of servicing my water system.

Dear [redacted]:

Thank you for your concerns, I have reviewed your file and found the following, your system was installed in 1996, there was a filter change in 2009 at a cost of 185.00(filters only), then another filter change in 2010 (filters only) due yearly, The membrane was due in 2011 but not done(cost 289.11)due every 3 years, then on 8/12/2011 we replaced the ** water tank 212.15(good for 5yrs.) Then we called and set an appointment with you for 4/1/14, [redacted] arrived reviewed work to be done, and you accepted to have the filters (225.03) and membrane (289.11) when done together you save 104.13 making the total filter and membrane change only 410.01. Then you have another whole house filter referred to as a **([redacted]) costing 150.00 due yearly and Then you requested 1 gallon of mineral rinse (res-up) for your water conditioner, lastly your whole house water conditioner needed work, in which you refused. So we did filters normally 185.00 membrane normally 289.11, Both are 410.01,a [redacted] Whole House filter 150.00 and Re-sup for 73.99 totaling 410.01+150.00+73.99=634.00 , We will offer a 25% senior citizen discount of -158.50 bringing the total to 475.50. Michael Kreiser Company Bought ** water 8/5/2010 and have been servicing said customers since then. We will need a new check as you have placed a stop payment on your check , Thank You for your help in this matter and we hope we have answered your concerns. Please don't hesitate to call with any further questions or concerns.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Review: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

Mr. Kreiser did not address how he obtained my service contract since he had not done any service work on my unit since 2011 (when he installed a ** tank that was not requested by me). His company did not identify themselves on the phone when the appointment call was made even though I asked specifically who was calling. His prices are significantly higher than identical work done by the company I had been using for several years. He indicated that he has been servicing customers of ** Water since he bought the company on 8/5/2010 but attached are documents proving that he has not serviced my unit since 6/23/2010. It is true that my Water Treatment System was installed in1996. It was installed by [redacted] in [redacted], NC. on 2/20/1996. (See attached receipt). I have also attached a receipt dated 6/23/2010 for an annual service call that was paid for amounting to $185.00 under the name of [redacted]. out of [redacted], VA. At this time, I contacted [redacted] to do my service work. They came on 5/11/2011 and performed a service call and membrane change for a total of $347.75 (receipt attached). I have a receipt from Michael Kreiser Water Treatment Systems with no date that I refused service on since I had already contracted with another company to do my service work. (receipt attached). Having just had my system serviced on 5/11/2011 a representative of Michael Kreiser Water Treatment Systems contacted me on 8/2/2011 to say that I needed the ** Tank replaced. I agreed to the work but later realized that this was not the company I had been using (receipt attached). Since that time only [redacted] has done any servicing or repair work on my unit. The last date of service was on March 7, 2013 by [redacted] (receipt attached). The total for that service call was $269.95 and included the service call and filters at $185.00, replacement of [redacted] at $ 65.00, and one gallon of hydro rinse at $19.95. When Michael's representative called in Spring of 2014 for a service call appointment, the person did not identify the company they were representing even when asked specifically who they worked for. The person simply said we are the people that have been servicing your system. That was obviously an untruth since I have receipts indicating that [redacted] was the company that had been servicing my system since 2011. I did stop payment on the check that I wrote to your company. I continue to feel that these prices are greatly inflated and request that they be adjusted to $270.00 and that you never contact me again for service to my system. [redacted]

Response:

To whom it may concern: I Michael Kreiser did service for [redacted], He paid me 634.00 with a check made out to Michael Kreiser. I then agreed to adjust my price to 270.00 , I then received a check made out to **, a company I bought 4 years ago, and is now a brand that we service, and all checks are made out to Michael Kreiser. as the original check was >>>>>> We have since removed **. [redacted] from all Contact except collection of 270.00 The service was complete with no complaints except homeowner is not paying for service ordered. Thank you

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:The service was not ordered as Mr. Kreiser stated. I was scammed by being told that this company had been servicing my system when in fact, this company had not serviced my system for several years as proven by the receipts I submitted in the last response. I am sending the payment of $270.00 (made out to Michael Kreiser) as Mr. Kreiser agreed upon and request that all my contact information be permanently removed from all records with any of the companies that Mr. Kreiser has interest in.
