Michael P Burns Inc Reviews (3)

To date, we have received no correspondence about the inspectors visit to Ms***'s homeWe are looking into the matter and will share information if we receive any. Sincerely Michael B

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
I appreciate that I finally have a response from *** Corporation regarding my floorI do note, however, that they have indicated that the "primary causes include movement, moisture or installer error." The installation instructions for the *** underlay indicate that in new home construction special care must be taken due to moistureI feel that the moisture existed at the time of installation and the installer did not measure to ensure proper conditions prior to installationIn addition any movement in the *** would be due to improper installation as The House Works installed the ***I was assured by Michelle, MrB***, that if The House Works installed the *** they would guarantee the flooringThe fact that *** warranty does not cover this problem, does not relieve The House Works from its responsibility in proper installation
Regards,
*** ***

In response to the recent inquiry involving floor warranty issues, we feel that Ms*** has concealed information and is misguided regarding some of the factsIt is important to note the work performed was done in a brand new house constructionAll conditions before and during our contract
were completed with excellenceWe delivered materi.als on site early to acclimate to the house; using the recommended underlayment and sundriesThe job was beautiful and we were paidThere was no moisture problems at the time of the workIt was months later that the customer called about underlayment seams showingUpon my inspection, the customer had explained she had water in her basement under the kitchenShe added that she needed to buy a $ dehumidifier to remedy the problemIt is unknown how long the water remained in the basement before it was discovered (she has limited basement access), or if the issue is even solved to date; but it is the culprit and the problem at handUnderlayment does not swell or grow after a few months in nonnal house conditions; edge swelling is caused by moisture inductionThis information can be verified through the underlayment manufacturer ***I have repeatedly demonstrated this fact with the customer and regrettably, is not covered under any floor warrantyIn good faith we came to the house to maintain good customer relationsWe suggested waiting through the winter months in hopes that the furnace and dehumidifier would dry things out and reduce seam swellingWhile explaining the reason for her problem, I listened to her concerns and have even offered to come back again to roll the seams in the underlaymentWith my years experience doing flooring, I have seen every scenario and I consider myself an expert in the fieldIn my professional opinion the long term excessive moisture in the basement has caused the damages to our installed flooring as well as swelling, peaking and cupping to the rest of the hardwood floors throughout the houseHad Ms*** so-called experts bothered to investigate the problem farther, they would agree that trapped water in the basement directly under the flooring would definitely be the cause of her problems, During our years in business, we have laid thousands of floorsWe feel that our lack of problems with the Revdex.com is a shining testimony of our workmanshipIn addition, we refuse to accept any responsibility for damages caused from post-installation basement flooding and moistureAfter speaking with several of contractors that have worked in Ms*** house, the complete account has been brought to lightWe would encourage Ms,, *** to contact the contractor who crushed the perimeter drain pipe backfilling her property; subsequently allowing months of roof and rainwater to enter the sealed basement with nowhere to go but upIt appears this action has created a domino effect of troubles throughout the entire house, and is where the blame really belongsSincerely Michael BPresident
