Michael's Reno Powersports Reviews (2)

The customer service failed to make me feel welcome and to earn my business back. When Michael's Reno Powersports buys a product from you they procrastinate and do not hold up to their word. I feel that when I told them why I needed the money and needed it by a certain day and they said that it would be there and it never showed up I feel that they could care less about me and the reason I need the money. They bought and kept the motorcycle that I was selling but did not give me the money for it, instead they said that the owner had to come in to write a check, I feel that by doing that they are undermining me because I am a woman. I believe that they are a dirty company and should be dealt with accordingly.Desired SettlementI believe they should have to give me the full trade in value for the bike instead of the lowball price that they said they would give me for it.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Sales ManagerContact Phone: 775-825-8680Contact Email: [redacted] came in on a Saturday, I had one of my Mechanics take a quick look at the bike, I was told of a couple of issues with the bike. I told [redacted] the issues with the bike and made a offer on her bike. [redacted] agreed to the price and I told her that I will still need to have a full inspection on the bike, I also told her at that time that I did not have a check signer at the store and I probably would not have one at the store until the following Tuesday or Wednesday. She said that would be fine. I also told her that I could either mail her the check or she could drive in from out of town. She said to mail the check. The following Tuesday, I received several calls from [redacted], and I informed her that the owner had not come in at that point. [redacted] told me she needed the money by Wednesday so that she and her daughter could go see [redacted]'s husband who is attending [redacted] in [redacted] asked if we could overnight the check to her. When the owner of Michaels Reno Powersports came in, I immediately had her sign the check and we sent her check to her with a overnight status. Not once did [redacted] argue or disagree with the price that we agreed on. We also bought the bike from [redacted] with no title, which is something we do not generally do. I feel we went above and beyond for her.

We recently purchased a motorcycle from Michael's Reno Powersports and hindsight being what it is, plus had my circumstances been different, we would have never chosen this dealership to purchase from. We will not purchase from them in the future and certainly will not recommend this business to others. We do not live in Reno and at the time we were on a cross country motorcycle trip.We needed the new motorcycle to complete the trip
Our requirements for the purchase were . . .
Have a hitch installed on the new motorcycle.
Be able to deliver the motorcycle by a certain date
Provide a cable to connect the new motorcycle to my existing trailer
For the sake of brevity, a brief description of the problems encountered are provided. The issues are . . .
The hitch had to be ordered. The hitch was delivered and installed a day later than discussed. This caused a delay in our departure, which ultimately caused more expenses for us at our destination.
It turned out that the interconnecting cable that was discussed, does not exist (the manufacturer of the bike does not sell this item). We had to fabricate one.
Our trade was inspected twice, the first time early in the day, when a trade in figure was established. The trade was re-inspected later in the day and the dealership lowered the trade figure, causing a renegotiation of the deal. Why two inspections . . . no clear answer to this.
We never saw the salesperson after the first day of purchase process (that person was absent from the dealership). From the second day on we were handed over to the finance person. We basically had to bring that person up to speed on what had been discussed/promised during our conversation with the salesperson.
The Certificate or Origin, required to title the motorcycle in our home state, was not provided to us. Later, the Certificate was sent to the our local DMV (DOR) but was sent out five days after we were told that it had been mailed. In the meantime, the temporary registration had expired, forcing the motorcycle to be parked.
Errors were found on the paperwork associated with the sale.
The sales manager and the owner were contacted about the issues. The sales manager responded with a marginal apology and an offer to sell us accessories at "deep discounts". The owner has yet to respond.
The overall attitude of the dealership sales personnel and the owner, appear to be apathetic and they display disinterest in problems that were created during the sale. The "business as usual" approach, regardless of how it affects the sale appears to the the norm. My recommendation . . . shop elsewhere first, then if you want to compare, try out Michael's, then judge for yourself.
