I called to schedule eye exams for my children because [redacted] the receptionist told me that they accepted my insurance. My daughter and son had an eye exam on 3/13/2012. After the exam, I was told that no, they did not take my insurance. This should have been told to me BEFORE my children even had the exams! My daughter was fitted for contacts which I was told by [redacted] - Dr [redacted]'s receptionist - that it was all included in the exam fee. I am now being charged for a follow up visit and fitting fee for my daughter that I was never told about. In all I paid $154.00 for a comprehensive exam. Dr [redacted] is now charging me an additional $122.00 that I was never told I would be charged. When I called and spoke to [redacted] she told me that she had explained to me the charges. This statement is not true. I am also being charged for a follow up exam for my son in the amount of $55.00. He had an eye infection in March and Dr [redacted] prescribed a $300.00 eye drop medication for that infection. When I complained about the cost of the Rx to Dr [redacted], he told me that it was necessary to clear up the infection. I was never told that I would be charged for either of these follow up exams and I want these charges removed from my bill. I feel that the only reason I am being charged extra is because I told [redacted] that I was not bringing my children back to Dr [redacted]'s because they are too expensive and I cannot afford $154.00 eye exam fee for each child. I paid a total of $308.00 for my children and now they are charging me an additional $177.00 I have never once been charged by Dr [redacted] or any other eye Dr for a follow up exam for my children. I feel they are doing this to get back at me for not wanting to go back there. My contact with and requests to Dr [redacted]'s office have been to no avail, they will not remove the charges. This is unprofessional and outright fraud.
