Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/05/31) */
In April of 2015 [redacted] came into my store asking if I had access to a supplier that would have 14K white gold ring for a lady. I said yes and ordered one to show her. She said "yes, that is just what I had in mind for my girlfriend". She...

asked if she could make payments and I agreed since I will do 90 day layaway for people in the community. She said "grateful will bring you a deposit". Two weeks went by and I called her to get a deposit. "oh yes I will bring one" I explained if she didn't want the ring, I could send it back, but she wanted it.
In two more weeks I called her again asking if I should send the ring back. "no, I will bring a deposit." This went on for almost two months then she finally brought me $50 in June 2015. On June 27th I texted her requesting a payment. On July 18, 2015 she brought me an old sterling silver ring with a small diamond and asked if I would take it in trade for a payment. I agreed and credited her account $60 for the used ring. So she asked me at that time 7/18/2015 how much she needed to put down to take it and I told her I needed half down and her to make consistent payments. Another payment of $40 August 2/5 I left messages (since she wouldn't answer when I called her). In Aug, Sept, Oct, texted her again November 28th, 2015, December 2015, January 2015, February 2016. Finally in march with no response I put the ring out in my display case to sell.
On April 5, 2016 she comes in and says she would like to pay me $105 so she can take the ring.
I explained with her payment history, I didn't want to let her take the ring. She said "but that's what you said".
[redacted] works at a neighboring business that belongs to a funeral of mine. I reluctantly said I didn't feel good about this but how long before she would pay it off. She said 10 days April 15. [redacted] signed in agreement on the layaway card. On April 28th I texted her again asking to be paid.
On May 1st she comes into my store asking for a "refund" so she could "pay her bills". I was shocked by her nerve. She hands me the ring stating " it never fit anyway" I asked "Why she didn't bring it back for sizing then?"
I said no to the refund. She said I will take lss money than I paid. I said that I would see. I took the ring and put it in her envelope.
Once I had a moment, I took the ring out to look at it. It was very worn. Pits, nicks, and dings in the gold. Not in the shape I could ever sell it.
On May 4th 2016 I texted her and let her know that I was not willing to refund her money but I would agree to a $200 in store credit, which I thought was extremely generous. She told me that was unfair and she was going to take me to the Revdex.com. I fell I have been more than patient and fair to [redacted].
Thank You,
[redacted].

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/06/01) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
[redacted], the owner of the small business where I had purchased the ring had made a verbal agreement with me stating for me to "come back next week after I make money after the weekend" so I said okay. [redacted] had seen the ring that day she said that verbal agreement. I was supposed to get back $175 of my $275 that I had paid her. There was no phone calls made to my phone like she had stated. I then asked her if I could just $150 of my money back, since I was in a financial situation. I don't understand how asking for $125 less of my own money I had given to [redacted] is more than enough for compensation for what she says is scratches and scuffs. I'm really just wanting my money back or whatever price what we can negotiate on.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2016/06/01) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There was a verbal agreement of $175 in cash. I'll ask for $150 leaving $125 in her pocket. I'm needing the cash. I have no interest in a store credit nor would I have use for one.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2016/06/01) */
I stand by my original response. The only thing I am offering is a store credit of $200.00.
