Versatube quoted a building for us and when we asked for a refreshed quote it was $2,784.29 higher. When we asked why they simply said they goofed. Tom A[redacted] quoted us $4001.08 for a 23'W x 28'2"L x 8'H Fully Enclosed Building Package (Frontier Series)4'OCWe asked him to refresh his quote based on a new size and this was his response 24'W x 28'2"L x 8'H Fully Enclosed Building Package (Frontier Series) 4'OC $6,785.37 DeliveredWhen I asked why such a difference in price he claimed the first building was frame only not enclosed. When I sent him the quote he simply said he forgot to take the fully enclosed out of the quote. However, we NEVER asked for a frame only quote, only a complete building.Desired SettlementWe want the building quoted for the price quoted, not just a frame but a complete building as was described in the quote. Business Response Contact Name and Title: Peyton C[redacted], ManagerContact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]@versatube.comIn response to the Revdex.com Compliant, Case #: XXXXXXXX, we (Mid-South Metal Products, Inc. DBA: VersaTube Building Systems) have reviewed the compliant and discussed in detail with our representative the subject matter that led to this complaint. Following the below summary of events surrounding this complaint, we have set forth our resolution response. Summary of events surrounding the complaint based on emails gathered from database: Mr. [redacted] contacted VersaTube on 5/25/15 requesting a quote on a complete building package kit of which our representative Tom A[redacted] responded with a quote (1st attachment) for a 30'W x 23'2"L x 8'H and a 30'W x 25'2"L x 8'H building package. On 5/29/15 [redacted] asked for a quote on a smaller building, 23'W x 28'L x 8'H of which Tom A[redacted] responded with the 2nd quote memo (attachment #2). Please note due to fluctuating and volatile prices in the steel market all VersaTube quotes are valid for a period of 30 days as disclosed within the attached quotes (highlighted in yellow "Quote valid for 30Days"). On 9/17/15, some 3.4 months after Quote #2 (attachment #3), Mr. Irvin states "almost ready to order garage" and ask 'how much' for additional window openings. There is no recorded email in response to this question until 11/27/15 which reflects a new quote on a slightly larger structure 24' x 28' x 8' complete package (attachment #4). Attachment #5 is Mr. Irvin's response to the November quote asking if we can "chop the price of this building down" which further corresponds into 'attachment 6' reflecting Mr. Irvin's remarks on the outdated quote originating on 5/29/15. Summary of events as explained by Tom A[redacted]:Tom explains the 5/29/15 quote on the 23' x 28' x 8' building for $4,001.00 was issued and proposed as a "Complete Building Package" including the Frame Kit and Sheet Metal Package although this price truly only represented the 'Frame Only' price. It was not until November (nearly 6 months later) Tom discovered he actually made a mistake on this quote when he calculated the price on the newly requested size of 24' x 28' x 8' Complete Building Package. Tom explains that the 5/29/15 quote was a mistake although well past the expiration date of the quote. Resolution:VersaTube Building Systems would like to state that if the above 23'W x 28'L x 8'H building quoted on 5/29/15 would have been purchased within the 30 day period, the sale would have been honored as proposed in "Complete package" form (Frame Kit and Sheet Metal Package) at the quoted price of $4,001.08 despite the quoting mistake made by Tom A[redacted] which truly only represented a 'Frame Only' price. Nonetheless after further review by VersaTube management in consideration of discovering this 5/29/15 quote was submitted against an insurance claim by [redacted], VersaTube will honor and fulfill the 5/29/15 quote as a gesture of good faith for $4,269.55 through December 31st, 2015. To fulfill this purchase a 50% deposit must be received on or before 12/31/15 by [redacted]. This offer expires and is invalid starting at 5pm CST, 12/31/15.Thank you, Peyton C[redacted]National Sales ManagerVersaTube Building Systems50 Eastley St.Collierville, TN XXXXXToll Free: (XXX) XXX-XXXX Ext. 102Fax: XXX-XXX-XXXX Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Only after we told Versa Tube we had ordered a building from a more reputable supplier did they feel "safe" in offering to honor the quote. When a company can NOT even get my name correct from the beginning of the letter to the end of the letter it really does show how unprofessional they really are. I am just glad we discovered what type of company they were before we actually ordered from them and will never order from nor recommend them to anyone. They also failed to mention that I spoke to Tom A[redacted]'s boss and he indicated they may be able to "work with me" on the price but they could not honor the quote. He also emphasized the quote was for frame only which I informed him I never asked for a frame only quote. It just seems like they do the bait and switch and I didn't fall for it.As far as I'm concerned I do not want any further dealings with Versa Tube and simply want to warn others to be cautious if you are using them to supply your building. Final Business Response VersaTube offered the potential customer a generous and good faith resolution on 12/23/2015 to their complaint (please see previous message). We feel that we have made the best possible effort to rectify the potential customer's concerns and hope that the Revdex.com reviewing committee will see our good faith efforts and close out this complaint.

Major delays in engineering, fabricating, and delivering of product. On 25 Aug 2015, I ordered my Versatube b[redacted]ing direct from Versatube. Joshua G[redacted] was my sales person. I was told that it was taking about 6 weeks for delivery and to follow up in 3 weeks for a better delivery time. I sent an e-mail 3 weeks later and was told that they were behind schedule because of the amount of orders they had received and that it would be an addition week or 2 before I would get by b[redacted]ing. I waited another week and got a response that it had just been sent to the engineer for approval and it would take 1 to 2 weeks after that approval. After the engineer completed what they needed to do and I approved the b[redacted]ing, I was given a ship date of 15 Oct and that it would take 2-3 days for shipping. This gave me the dates that I needed to submit vacation days so that I could construct my b[redacted]ing when it arrived. Today, 13 Oct 2015, I called to verify that my order was still tracking for a ship date of 15 Oct and I was told that it would not ship until around 21 Oct. That means that I am now taking vacation days at the wrong time. I paid for my complete order up front via wire transfer and had to pay an additional fee to get the process started quickly. I did this so that I would get the b[redacted]ing before the cold weather of northern Iowa gets here.Desired SettlementI want assurances that my building will be sent to me ASAP.Business Response VersaTube's national sales manager (Peyton C[redacted]) has reached out to our customer to make certain all of their issues were resolved. If the customer needs any further assistance the national sales manager will make certain they are met ASAP.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)After speaking to Chris, my building frame has finally arrived. I am still waiting for the sheet metal, but I have been assured that it will be arriving on 23 Oct so that I can complete my project this weekend. Peyton called on 21 Oct in response to this complaint and confirmed everything that Chris had been telling me and assured me that the company is taking steps to prevent this issue from happening in the future. At this time, I feel that my issue has been resolved.

Custom ordered 12'high, 14'wide, 28' long carport, they delivered a 24 foot and included instructions for wrong product assembly as well. ordered custom 12'high, 14'wide, 28'long carport kit from Versatube through Menards on [redacted] in Grand Rapids, MI on oct 1, 2013. paid with Visa. special order placed by Faustin at Menards with Versatube rep. Versatube vendor part # cf0142801204 with cost 1764,91. Product was delivered approx 1500 11/3/13. Immediately after delivery we removed package bundling and straps and laid out base rails and they were for a 24 foot carport and the holes for securing to the footings do not line up with the footing diagram previously sent to me for site preparation. Also, the instructions sent for construction and the parts list did not match the product ordered. I called Menards and told to pick up I was not accepting deliver. Contacted Versatube 11/4/13 Carol, who said would call back and did not. e-mailed natalie and was advised to send them a list of the parts received so they could send parts to allow expansion of this product to the correct size. Tom and Skyler at Menards also reportedly intervened on my behalf. I also spoke with Mike Z, manager at Menards and emphasized I want this product removed and the correct one delivered. Versatube (natalie) asked me to inventory the various parts received and send to her for them to verify what they sent. spoke with Bruce ostrander at approx 1630 who also stated I needed to inventory the parts to let them know what they sent. I stated I wanted the product removed and correct product sent. he stated if they removed it, they would not replace it but would refund the dollars spent. Desired SettlementI expect the correct product delivered that was ordered.

The building that was purchased was a complete garage from this vendors "Summit" edition. Upon delivery there are no windows, garage doors, or door.We ordered a complete garage and per our discussion with this [redacted] representative we were under the impression that this would be delivered. This was from the "Summit" Edition of garages. After multiple problems regarding the garages foundation plans the garage was delivered. Upon inspection of delivery it was discovered that no doors or windows were included in this delivery. We contacted [redacted] and after a representative investigated into this matter we were told that no windows or doors are ever included in their products just the "cut-outs" and the windows and doors are so expensive it would be cheaper for us to obtain these materials from a local resource. This is false advertising and enticement as the discussions that occurred was that the materials provided would be what was required to "shell-in" or "dry-in" a garage and without these doors/windows that is impossible. With the initial problems regarding the engineered plans [redacted] made us feel belittled and they led us to believe that [redacted] was doing us a favor by withholding a $50 charge to fix plans that were incorrect on their part. At that time we discussed doing a refund to which they responded we would have to pay all shipping charges which amounts to $1060 plus a 20% restock fee. At this time we were hestitant to go through with the purchase and in retrospect with the additional problems we are now encountering wish this transaction would not have taken place.Desired SettlementThe resolution sought is the delivery of the windows and doors that are required to complete this product as that was what was explained to us and the understanding we had with Versatube.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]A miscommunication occurred between our customer and their sales representative. We've responded to our customer and presented options to resolve this issue. We hope the customer accepts and finds the resolution satisfactory.

Deposit refund.I was interested in buying a building from them. I paid $450.00 for a set of plans and $1,000.00 refundable deposit. The county would not approve plans for several reasons. At that point I asked for a refund of my deposit, I was told no refund would be issued because they had spent more than that on the set of plans. Chad was the salesman.Desired SettlementI would like refund of deposit.Final Consumer Response I talked with Chris from Versatube today. He was vary helpful and we have resolved my issue. Thanks Chris!

I purchased a metal frame building from [redacted] which their engineers designed for the area of Minnesota I live in. The building collapsed!I purchased a [redacted] metal frame building from [redacted] in [redacted] Minnesota. The building was designed by the engineers at [redacted] for the area of minnesota I live in. The building was 32' wide X 36' long and 12.5' tall. I purchased the building in September 2013 and it was built that same month. On Febraury 21, 2014 only 6 months after the construction of the building, it collapsed during a snowfall. The warranty states "The [redacted] Product PledgeWhat exactly is a Product Pledge? It's quite simple . . . the Pledge is our way of showing that we're proud of our products and the level of quality that they represent. Your building will go through an extensive inspection process prior to leaving our plant, but if any component should not meet your expectations, we'll be glad to replace the part at no charge within 30 days of purchase. The only criteria that must be met is that you bought the building from [redacted], the damage wasn't caused by customer modifications or mishandling, and that the building was erected within 4 months of purchase. This section of the Pledge applies to any of the materials supplied with our building kits for one year from the date of purchase. The second part of the [redacted] Product Pledge provides a 20 year structural warranty on all framing components of our buildings from the date of purchase. Of course, the defect can't be caused by customer modifications or negligence, an unanticipated Act of God or nature, an accident, or any type of internal or external impact. Improper assembly or installation may also void the warranty. The customer is responsible for performing standard building maintenance and inspections on a regular basis. We reserve the right to repair or replace any part that might not meet expectations.[redacted] is proud to put our name on the buildings we manufacture for our customers and stand behind their quality with our industry leading Product Pledge."I have contacted [redacted], and they are not willing to honor the Warranty. [redacted] told me that I should file a claim with my homeowners Insurance company. The building was designed by [redacted] Engineers for the part of the country I live in before I ever built it. Now they are saying that It has been an abnormally snowy winter and because of this, they don't have to honor the warranty. We have not broken any snowfall records in [redacted], Minnesota this year. These buildings should not be sold to customers in Minnesota or other states that get snowfall. [redacted] uses Homeowners Insurance as a copout to honor their warranty. I paid 6300.00 for the metal frame from [redacted] tells me that all warranty issues go directly thru [redacted].Desired SettlementI am asking that [redacted] give me a full refund. Replacement of the building makes no sense due to the snowfall issues where I live. [redacted] has offered me a new/stronger building at a discounted price, however, I lost a 8000.00 car and a 12,000.00 boat in the building collapse and I will not trust one of these buildings again in Minnesota, so this is why I am asking for a full refund. Business Response [redacted], In response to the complaint filed by Mr. [redacted] on March 6, 2014, please accept the following as the response from Mid-South Metal Products, Inc. (dba [redacted]) The unit in question was purchased by Mr. [redacted] in early summer 2014 from a local retailer in his area. Shortly after purchasing the unit Mr. [redacted] contacted [redacted] to inquire about purchasing a brace kit to handle the higher snow load in his area. We initially researched the load required for his area and recommended that he purchase a Type 6 Truss Brace kit which would allow him to get stamped engineered drawings for his structure for submittal to his local building department for his permit. When the [redacted] representative called Mr. [redacted] and shared this conclusion with him, he indicated that he decided he was not going to pull a permit and he asked if a Type 3 would "hold up" the snow they usually get. We ran the calculations and determined that the Type 3 would hold the stated required snow load for the area, but barely, and when safety factors are employed it would not pass [redacted] code for permitting purposes. However, Mr. [redacted] only wanted to purchase the Type 3. Once he informed us that the unit failed last month in a heavy snow storm, we sent a representative to his residence to take photographs and inspect the unit. It was clear to us that the load applied to the structure exceeded what the unit was designed to withstand. [redacted] does not warrant against Acts of [redacted]. In an effort to accommodate Mr. [redacted] did offer to deeply discount a replacement frame package for him and even offered to do it on one that was designed to handle a much higher snow load that he would likely ever incur. However, Mr. [redacted] indicated he had no faith in any product from [redacted] and was only interested in a full refund of his cost in this unit. [redacted] strongly stands behind the quality and strength of our products. We are the only tubular building system company that goes to such lengths to ensure our products are designed and manufactured to meet snow load requirements. Therefore, at this time, we have denied his request for a full reimbursement of his cost for the frame kit in question. If you have any further questions regarding this issue please contact me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX x104. [redacted] StreetCollierville, TN XXXXX(XXX) XXX-XXXX Ext 104[redacted]@versatube.comwww.versatube.comAttached is a copy of our Warranty/Product Pledge that is posted on our website and included in most instruction manuals for our products. [redacted] StreetCollierville, TN XXXXX(XXX) XXX-XXXX Ext 104[redacted]@versatube.comwww.versatube.comConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)First, as Mr. [redacted] noted, the type 3 truss package that I purchased was the proper truss package for the area of minnesota that I live in according to the response of Mr. [redacted] "We ran the calculations and determined that the Type 3 would hold the stated required snow load for the area."Second, a snow fall isn't an act of [redacted]. This snow fall was a typical, normal amount of snow for this area period. There was no blizzard, or record snow fall totals for this particular snowfall when my building collapsed. Last I checked, an "Act of [redacted]" is some type of natural disaster, flood, tornado, hurricane, etc. An average afternoon of snowfall is not considered any of the stated natural disasters.Third, I have never been approached or contacted by anyone from [redacted] in regard to a "deeply discounted replacement frame package." I would be interested to see what [redacted] has to offer? Finally, Mr. [redacted] and the folks at [redacted] have been Rude and uncooperative! No one has ever returned a phone call to me nor has been willing to discuss any kind of solution to this problem ever! Mr. [redacted] in his own words states that I was told that the truss package I purchased would hold the required snow load for the area of minnesota I live at. There was never any talk of any other truss package or type 6 truss. I was told the trusses I purchased would be ok period! There was no "Act of [redacted]" Therefore, I think that the warranty should hold up in this case. I just think that this bogus warranty is no warranty at all.Final Business Response [redacted] was contacted by Mr.[redacted] Insurance Company recently. Their representative indicated they understood that the collapse was due to an unusually heavy snow fall and were just inquiring as to product design and cost information. It has been the position of [redacted] from the beginning that this is a Homeowners Insurance issue and not a warranty issue.
