To Whom It may Concern:

I concur with the writer of the complaint against Mid Valley Athletic Club. I, too, migrated from Fit Center. For awhile things were fine but then we saw problems with the upkeep of the facility. The pool was getting colder and we brought in a thermometer to monitor the water. Numerous complaints were made to the owner and to the instructors. I signed a document that was prepared by a classmate requesting that the water be heated to the temperature suggested by the Arthritis Foundation. There were days when I had to leave class because the water was so cold. Our requests were ignored.

In addition, there was an issue with the railing that people used to get into the pool. It was fine for several years and then broke. The repairs that were made caused the railing to be unstable. I complained to the owner, [redacted], and she stated that this was caused by obese people pulling on it and that we were to use the muscles in our legs to get in and out of the pool. For me, this is impossible as I have had some minor strokes and use a four wheel walker. I have to use my upper body to do most things. There is a pool chair but it is so low to the ground that I can not get in and out of it alone. (The one at Fit Center was fine for this.) I could get in and out of the pool using the rail if it was stable. I considered this railing a danger to my health for fear of falling.

Other issues included the removal of the cover on the railing going into the hot tub, which made it too hot to touch. The showers were impossible because of getting my walker in there. And there was so much mold in the buildings that I had to stop going there.

I left at the end of June when my contract expired. I still keep getting bills for services that I have never used. My last bill was dated November 30. One would think that they could figure out that I have left.

This is a Silver Sneakers facility which means that it is to be friendly to people who are older. This is not the case. The doors going into the locker room are very heavy and there are no automatic openers. We were told that an elevator was going to be put in but that never happened so many people can not get to the rooms on the second floor.

I do not recommend this facility to anyone
