Mid-Way Auto Sales Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: On Nov. [redacted] 2013, we purchased a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport in the amount of $6578. This amount included a inspection fee of $21.00. We were told by the salesman, [redacted] Hansen, that the car needed to be inspected before they could remove it from the lot. Midway Auto Sales uses there own company to do the inspection. They would not allow us to have inspected by our own mechanic. He had to be their own. The next day we received a phone call from [redacted] Hansen that the car has past inspection and we could pick it up that night. About a month and half later, my son started hearing a loud squeaky, grinding noise. My husband thought it may be the power steering. I called and spoke with [redacted] and he told me that the warranty that we purchased did not cover power steering. On Jan. [redacted], we went to our mechanic, which is Total Car Care Center, to purchase 4 new tires. As he was driving into the garage he noticed the grinding noise and looked everything over. He found that the fronts brakes and the back brakes were really bad to the point that the pads were shredding. The power steering was really bad as well as the ball joints and several other things. He asked us when we purchased the use car and we told him " the middle of November". and then he asked where we purchased it and we told him " Midway Auto Sales" in which he cringed because he has heard nothing but bad things about them. He mentioned that we should of brought it to him to look at for inspection before we bought it because it should have never passed inspection with all of these issues. We explained they would not allow us, it had to be through them. And now we know why. My husband tried calling [redacted] or a supervisor to complain to no avail. No one called us back. We ended up doing all the repairs so that my son could have a vehicle to drive.. The total came to $3545.00. We have receipts for everything that was repaired.Desired Settlement: We want Midway Auto Sales to refund us the amount we paid to have the repairs done because it should of never left the lot.

Sincerely,

Review: My complaint is 3 part, -The fist issue I encountered was when I went to pick up the vehicle after securing a loan I was informed by the salesman Todd that he had made a mistake on the sales contract and applied my trade twice and I would owe them another $3078.32 to complete the sale and put me totally on the spot when asked what they would do to correct the situation I was advised that he made a mistake and was already loosing money on the deal. As I had already changed my insurance and needed the vehicle for a volunteer position that I had recently accepted, I had no choice but to write the check. I later researched and found the sales contract should have been binding and should have been honored at time of sale. -The second issue is that they sold me an unsafe vehicle that should have not passed New York State safety inspection due to severely worn ball joints, that where bad to the point that within 481 miles of driving they had destroyed my 2 front tires. After reviewing the warranty included with the vehicle purchases it was clearly stated that suspension parts were not covered so I took the vehicle to my local mechanic and paid $1259.45 for the repair to my vehicle as is my right under NYS law. when I called the salesman I was told they do not do the safety inspections and that my first mistake was taking it anywhere and paying money before I brought it back to them which makes no sense to me as the suspension problem was clearly listed as not covered by the warranty why would I bring it back to them for repairs. -The third issue is that the vehicle I traded in is now listed for sale for more than double what they told me it was worth at trade. As well as when they showed me the nada report for the value of the vehicle I purchased they added options such as alloy wheels that are not on the vehicle I was sold.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that they be held to the binding sales agreement as well as responsibility for the cost of repairs incurred by me due to defective vehicle. I am looking for full refund in the amount of $4337.77. (not including the cost of tires) 3078.72 that was listed as covered on sales binder 1259.45 for the cost of repairs to make the vehicle safe to drive. I am also requesting that they be investigated for deceptive sales practices.
