April 2018 I went to Midas on new street to get my brakes, rotors and calipers changed as well as some other automotive work. I went back o this location on Jan 5 2019 as I noticed my brakes were seizing up. They noticed that for whatever reason my calipers were seizing up. The shop owner said the markings that were on the calipers indicated to him it wasn't a calipers that they carry in stock. And that's when h accused of putting on different calipers from the originial work done back in April of 2018. I also mentioned to them that my hand brake wasn't working and got a quote for brakes cables for which he ordered right on the spot. I went home and spoke with my wife and told her the whole situation and she suggested that I get a second opinion. I called and cancelled the ordered part and went to another mechanic for a new quote on the brake cables. I lodged a complaint throughh midas' website about my experience and how I felt about being accused of changing the calipers. No one called me back about my experience. 3 weeks later I went to *** on spears rd in Oakville on Jan 31 to get a second opinion. They did a complete survey of my vehicle and noticed that my calipers were seized, rotors rusted, and I had a brake pad cracked. I called the Midas customer call care center and the person who answered the phone said that I would absolutely be getting a full refund from my work done in April of 2018. Perfect. I went ahead with the repair work from ***. I called the call center again because I was told I would get a return call from someone and did not. Now I'm being redirected to their cooperate office. I made my complaint a 3rd time now and they mentioned to me that I would get a call back. Nothing. I tried 2 other times and no call backs until finally I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor of this corporate call center. Left a message with them and no call back again but this this time I was offered a $58 dollar refund on $1000 repair job to me car and that if I require more than to call the shop on new street.so I call the shop on new street and spoke with the owner *** who was adiment that I don't get a refund and that he wants nothing to do with my claim since I already called his coperate office. I called the coperate office again and was able to get in touch with a supervisor ***. He has asked for all my documentation regarding my claim including the work at the other mechanic shop and guess what, not call back. So I am forced to write a complaint with Revdex.com as I feel that I have been taken advantage of and was wrongfully for original work done back Midas back in April 2018

Desired Outcome

I am seeking a refund of $976.31 for all the parts and labour for my rear brakes from the original date of April 2018

MR *** had the calipers/pads and rotors replaced in April 2018. He returned to the shop on Sat 5 Jan 2019 with a complaint that a caliper was sticking. The right rear caliper had ceased and the brake cable was jammed. We replaced the pads, rotors and calipers on the rear at no charge. He returned the following week to complain that the cailper was still seized,. It was explained to him that the cable for the parking brake was seized causing the problem he was seeing. He was given a quote for the work and agreed for the part to be ordered. He called back later to cancel the order.

3 weeks later he calls and stated he had all the brakes replaced including the parking brake cable we had quoted on and wanted his payment from April 2018 refunded. I explained politely that that warranty work applied to returning the vehicle for our shop to repair at our cost (which we had completed in January 2019). As an aside, Mr *** replaced all the parts that we had replaced at *** with the same parts provider, so he should not have been charged for Pad, Rotors or Calipers by ***.

The fact that I was accused of putting on different calipers is the reason why I got a second quote. Not great customer service being accused by the shop of replacing parts I got repaired back in Jan 2018. What financial benefit is there for me to make such a claim? I was also refused my refund because I went above the store and complained to Midas corperate office of how I was treated. Another reason the shop denied my refund. Upon inspection from *** who was conducting my second opinion, there was multiple issues with my brakes again even though Midahas said they replaced only 3 weeks earlier. The brakes were worn, the rotors were rusted and the calipers were seized again. I have the necessary documentation, photos from *** for all the work needed. I believe my request for a refund is not reasonable. A full refund of $976.31.
