I purchased two tires from Midas totalling around $250 on August 21, 2019. It is now October 22 and the wall of my tire has a bubble and they're telling me I can't drive on it, yet they won't replace it. Obviously the bubble comes from a manufacturing error since the tire is only two months old. The Midas in Highland Park is saying there's nothing they can do about it and I need to purchase a new tire.
We have checked our records and we do not see selling tires to this customer ever. There are only 2 oil changes in our records under this customer. Maybe the customer went to another Midas in the area.
We also tried to call the customer few times and have been unsuccessful. Did customer buy under another name? We don't know as we have not received the call back.
I went into Midas for (1) an oil change; (2) a tire patch; (3) a malfunctioning tire sensor; and (4) a rear break replacement. Midas quoted me a price for each of these services, which I accepted. Midas did NOT disclose that they would separately charge a $25 "shop supply" fee, which I never agreed to or approved. Failing to disclose this fee before charging it to my credit card is fraud, plain and simple. Had I known of the charge, I would not have accepted service.
I went in for an oil change and ended up paying to replace the oil pan. When I contacted the manager after learning from other mechanics and googling the issue I learned that the mechanic who changed the oil did indeed strip the bolt. The consulting mechanics and info on google claim that the mechanic over tightened the bolt thus stripping the oil pan. The car is 12 years old and never has had that issue. It is a *** with a metal oil pan.
