Review: I went to the Midas shop about 2 to 3 months ago because my car was acting funny. [redacted] told me he could fix the car for $700. I told him that the last place I went to said it would cost $1,300 to replace the transmission. He told me he didn't need to replace it,he would fix it and the engine light would be off for $700. I left the car and he said he would call the next day to let me know when the car would be ready. He did not call, so I called him and he said to pick up the car at 2 and it would be ready. I went early at noon, and he said it wasn't ready. Then I waited and he said it would be $700 even though it was not fixed. I called the police to witness this and they spoke to [redacted] and said I had to pay the $700 or leave it and the cost would now be $1,400 to fix. I gave [redacted] $1,000 cash up front to pay for the repair. He said it would be fixed in two or three days. I went the second day and waited. I saw the car on the lift with no one working on it. Three days and I saw no one working on it up on the lift. I called and then [redacted] said the cost was now $1,700. I would never have left the car, but I had to pay the initial $700, so I didn't want to start all over with a new company. The car needs extra, I would not give him the extra. He asked me to sign a paper saying he fixed the transmission but that the car needed more work. I told him not to give me the extra repair. My friend paid the full amount the balance after the initial $1,000, of $750 even though I said not to do additional work. I just wanted to get my car. He guarranteed 12 months or 12,000 miles on the repair. At about 3,000 miles the car stopped working, and now I have replace the transmission for $1,300! I want my money back for the repair that did not fix my car. [redacted] was very dishonest and took advantage of me. He ran out with a paper at the end as I was driving away. He said it was the bill, but it said I declined the repair. When in fact I paid in full for everything and got nothing.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the $1,750 that I paid for this repair that did not fix my car. Now I have to pay to fix it for real. Bad business.
