Midas Muffler #6654 Reviews (4)

In regards to Midas Muffler #6654's response to my complaint [redacted] , I would like to offer the following response:1) The oil change was indeed performed on 4/15/and I did come in on 5/15/to have a strap put on the muffler, which was looseI did mention the leak at the time and it was dismissed as "not their problem" and had to contact the Midas Customer Care department before this franchise would do anything about it.2) When I took the car back on 5/30/15, I was adamant that I wanted the oil pan replaced, to which I was told, "our owner won't approve that, you should feel grateful that you're getting a free oil change out of this", so as far as "contacting them first", I did and the result was that my concern was dismissed.3) The statement that "drain plugs do wear out after years" is completely irrelevantThe drain plug can be in wonderful shape and it does not matter as they had damaged the pan beyond repairThey "heard absolutely nothing from me for months" because that's how long it took for the cheap gasket around the top of the cheap drain plug to wear out and start leaking oil againThe service they initially provided damaged my car and their response was to put a band-aid on it by using the cheapest quick-fix available instead of doing a proper repair.4) Regarding the telephone conversation, the businessman's restating of his demeanor and responses are inaccurateThere was question askedAfter I reiterated the situation and informed him that my car had been sitting in the shop for weeks, his response was a very condescending, "Oh, that's a long timeYou should have brought it hereWe would have done it in hours.", to which I replied, "And have you ruin the car even further? I wouldn't let those monkeys touch my car again." The businessman's reply was, "Now you're calling my employees monkeys? [redacted] youI'm supposed to sit here and listen to you because you want something from me for nothing? I'm not doing a [redacted] thing for you!", to which I responded, "I guess that the small claims court judge will have the final say on that", and I was treated again to, [redacted] you!", and hung up on.I am now out $out of pocket, not including the time and aggravation I have had to endureI understand that nothing is going to be done and was informed by Midas Customer Care that, as a franchise location, this business owner can make his own decisions regarding situations like these and is not bound by any suggestion or decision that may come down from corporate regarding the situation so he will likely do nothingI want the people in this community to know that, if they decide to frequent this business and something goes wrong, this is the kind of response they are likely to receive.Thank you [redacted] ***

In response to customer.1. He did not mention an oil leak on the May 15 visit and did not contact Midas consumer relations before returning on May 30. (no records with me or CSR)2. If you ask any repair facility if they deal with stripped drain plugs and they will tell yes. An oversized self tapping drain plug is a satisfactory repair in most cases and when we installed one on    his vehicle it did not leak. We do over 1500 oil changes per year and there are ones that require a new drain plug. As I said before, if it were not a common problem why would every parts    supplier have hundreds in stock?3. As for our conversation, he is now embellishing his story. After he called my employee a [redacted] monkey , I said this conversation is over and hung up. That was the conversation. The word [redacted]     never came out of my mouth. There were people in my office who can attest to that. He said nothing about small claims court.4. All one needs to do is read his rantings and what he has posted on social media about me personally to figure out who is aggressive and escalating.5. We have been in business at that location for 43 years and service 3500 vehicles  per year without any unresolved complaints.6. As he chose to wait 3 weeks to have his vehicle repaired and said absolutely nothing to us about what he was doing there is nothing I can do for him.[redacted]

In regards to Midas Muffler #6654's response to my complaint [redacted], I would like to offer the following response:1) The oil change was indeed performed on 4/15/15 and I did come in on 5/15/15 to have a strap put on the muffler, which was loose. I did mention the leak at the time and it was dismissed as "not their problem" and had to contact the Midas Customer Care department before this franchise would do anything about it.2) When I took the car back on 5/30/15, I was adamant that I wanted the oil pan replaced, to which I was told, "our owner won't approve that, you should feel grateful that you're getting a free oil change out of this", so as far as "contacting them first", I did and the result was that my concern was dismissed.3) The statement that "drain plugs do wear out after 14 years" is completely irrelevant. The drain plug can be in wonderful shape and it does not matter as they had damaged the pan beyond repair. They "heard absolutely nothing from me for 8 months" because that's how long it took for the cheap gasket around the top of the cheap drain plug to wear out and start leaking oil again. The service they initially provided damaged my car and their response was to put a band-aid on it by using the cheapest quick-fix available instead of doing a proper repair.4) Regarding the telephone conversation, the businessman's restating of his demeanor and responses are inaccurate. There was 1 question asked. After I reiterated the situation and informed him that my car had been sitting in the shop for 3 weeks, his response was a very condescending, "Oh, that's a long time. You should have brought it here. We would have done it in 2.5 hours.", to which I replied, "And have you ruin the car even further? I wouldn't let those monkeys touch my car again." The businessman's reply was, "Now you're calling my employees monkeys? [redacted] you. I'm supposed to sit here and listen to you because you want something from me for nothing? I understand that nothing is going to be done and was informed by Midas Customer Care that, as a franchise location, this business owner can make his own decisions regarding situations like these and is not bound by any suggestion or decision that may come down from corporate regarding the situation so he will likely do nothing. The customer brought his car on 4/15/15 and we did an oil change. He came in again on 5/15/15 for exhaust work and never mentioned an oil leak. He then came in on 5/30/15 and said he had an oil leak. We checked it and decided to change the drain plug. Drain plugs do wear out after fourteen years....

Every parts store in town stocks hundreds of plugs as I said they do wear out.We replaced the plug and refilled the car with oil and checked to make sure it didn't leak . Customer stated he thought he should get more than that. He left and we heard absolutely nothing from him for eight months. When I spoke to him today I asked 2 questions. I did not attack him. I asked why he did not contact us for 8 months. His response was your [redacted] monkies  ruined my car.. The technician he called a monkey is a ten year employee and an ase master technician. At that point I hung up the phone as he seemed more interested in name calling than anything else. If he wanted me to pay for something he should have contacted me first, not after he fact.[redacted]
