Midas Muffler & Brake Shop-Laurel Reviews (2)

Review: August 30, 2013 I took my 2004 Chevy Tahoe to Midas Muffler of [redacted] for service. I dropped the truck off at approximately 7:30 am and they had it all day. when the work was completed the manager was to give me a call. I was having work done on my tire and I have wheel locks on them. one of the associates calls me and asks for the wheel lock key. I told him it was in the glove box in the truck. I called midas between 3:30 and 4:00 pm because it was my lunch time and the manager said oh im sorry I forgot to call you your truck is ready. I could not leave work so I would have to pick the truck up after work. I made a credit card payment over the phone with the manager and asked him to lock the keys up in the truck. payment went through and we got off the phone. 9:30 pm after work I went to midas to pick up my truck. keys are in it cool.. I proceed to drive home and I decided I would turn on some music. my stereo system was flashing a code. it was for the cd player. I have a 6 disc in dash cd changer. not just 1 cd but all 6 cd's were missing. I tried to the midas that night they have no answering maching. so I said ok I am gonna call in the morning. I called the [redacted] police department and asked what should I do. the young lady said yes I should file a report, I went in at 1:15 Saturday August 31 and spoke with the manager. told him what happened and he said I will go ask the employees if they had taken them and of course they said no right. came back and told me he was going to check the cameras and see what he could see and he would call me. well he said he would have to wait til the next day cause they close at 3 pm and he would have to rewind the tape. he also said that he would pay for my cd's that were missing. I told him just what was missing Michael Jacksons 25th Anniversary Bad cd had 2 cs's, the Michael Jackson Immortal cd and that also had 2 cd's, a cd from a group called 112 and a autographed cd by a guy names DJ Phalva from Arizona which I will never get back. I gave the manager my number again and wrote the names of the cd's down for him. I then went to the police station and filed a report. spoke with Corporal E. X. Eagle case number [redacted]. unfortunately the person who commited the crime has to confess or if the manager saw them on tape I guess he would handle the matter. I asked the manager to listen to see if he would hear the music. I was livid in the least. you take your vehicle in for service and your vehicle gets robbed. this is really bad. bad business. if they took cd's imagine what else they could take. you should not have to take all your items out of your vehicle to get it serviced.

the police report was filed at the [redacted] police department ###-###-####

the associate that called about the wheel lock was [redacted] and he called from his cell phone ###-###-####

there was no reason to even touch the radio in the car only the tire was getting worked on.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I just want my cd's replaced but for real this guy should be arrested. I am usually a nice person but we know what happens to nice people. they get screwed. he really needs to be fired for stealing others property and arrested.

Response:

[redacted]1:53 PM (45 minutes ago)to me[redacted], I spoke with my manager and he said he offered **. [redacted] to pay for her Cd's if she picked them up and broght a receipt. We still maintain the fact that we did not remove them out of the vehicle. We wanted to replace the cd's as a good will gesture. We also have it stated that we are not responsible for valuebles left if vehicles. I called [redacted] and left her a message to reach our manager [redacted] to resolve this. Sincerely Yours, [redacted](owner) Midas[redacted] md

Review: On 6/4/2013 my Fiance ([redacted]) and I dropped off his 1996 Saab 900s at Midas to have his front brakes and rotors replaced. We were informed that there would be $35 fee to check the brakes, but it would be put towards the repair and replacement. We agreed and left the car at 7:30AM. The cashier named [redacted] called [redacted] at 9:30AM to give him pricing for FOUR brakes and rotors to be replaced, even though we stated in the beginning we only wanted the front two. The price he gave us was around $900 and that was astronomical, so he dropped the price down to $762. We were still dissatisfied considering this was still a quote for all four. He then told [redacted] that he would call back with a cheaper price, but that wasn't until 11:41AM. At this time, [redacted] had missed the phone call because he was at work, but he did call back around 3:00PM. [redacted] told [redacted] that he found a price at [redacted] for two front end brake pads, and two front end rotors for $250+tax and that we were going to be there to pick the car up. [redacted] then told him, "well I can do $291 with tax, and the fee to check the brakes." Considering he was going to charge us that $35 fee regardless, we weren't going to save any money by taking the car to [redacted] so we opted to have it fixed there. [redacted] told us that the car would be ready that day and that he would call us when it was finished. Three hours went by, and we realized that he closed the shop WITHOUT telling us that he was keeping the car overnight. This is when I stepped in, and contacted Midas Customer Service department and made a complaint. They didn't understand why he wouldn't inform us either, but couldn't do anything for us until the next day. On 6/5/2013 I had to take my own car to be repaired, and had doctor's visits, so I had to ask my 63 year old Mother to drive me around all day, and take time off of work. When I finally finished all of my errands, it was around 1:00PM and we hadn't received any phone calls about the car yet. So, I took the liberty to call [redacted], myself, and confronted him about imposing on my entire day. I informed him that he disrespected me as a person considering, he didn't think our car being in the shop, would sidetrack our whole day. He and I argued for a few minutes, and the only reason he could give me for not calling to tell us about keeping the car, was that "the parts weren't there yet, and we talked to him at 3:00PM the previous day." I don't believe that's a valid argument for not being able to pick up a phone to tell us. That's when I informed him that I wanted a discount on the price, considering it took him so long, and it inconvenienced my whole day. Later in the conversation, he gave me a number to a man named [redacted] and told me he's the only one who could adjust prices. I called about 7 or 8 times with no response. 3:15PM came around, and we still didn't have our car back. We drove by after being able to pick up my car, and noticed [redacted]' car was still up on the lift with the tires off. I called [redacted] again to confront him, and he informed me they broke some part and were waiting for it to be delivered within the next 10-15 minutes, and would only take 5 minutes to replace. 4:15PM came around, the car was still not finished. So at 5:00PM, we decided just to go up there, and to our amazement the car was sitting in the parking lot, and [redacted] failed to call us AGAIN. I feel as if, he would have let the shop close without giving our car back for a second time. We just decided to take the car, without waiting for [redacted] to call us back about a discount.

This morning, at 9:23AM 6/6/2013 [redacted] finally called me back about the situation, and he had received my complaint from Midas Customer Service. He argued with me about the service, and how he thought I should be satisfied. He also admitted that he over charged us, compared to [redacted] and didn't reassure me that the brakes were any better. I told him that I would like a discount for my inconvenience and the poor customer service, but he denied that to me. I also explained that we had seen an ad for Midas brakes forever for $99 and they wouldn't honor that. But he shot that down, saying they never offered that, even though [redacted] said they had previously but wouldn't honor it anymore. [redacted] then, reassured me that he wasn't going to give me a discount for my inconvenience so I informed him that I would report him to the Revdex.com. Which brings us here.

I still have not received a phone call from Midas Customer Service, and I have contacted them 3 times.

I have had the worst experience in my entire life. Not to mention, I am a very sick individual with gallbladder disease, endometriosis, and a back injury. All of the arguing and driving back and forth, made me very sick yesterday.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the price of labor considering the job was not done in a timely manner with below poor customer service, and I was utterly inconvenienced. I was also treated horribly by [redacted] and [redacted].
