This letter is a response to a complaint against my business, Mid-County Fence and Custom GatesAt the end of March, I gave a bid to *** *** to remove and rebuild roughly 150' of privacy fenceThe job consisted of removing 2xand replacing all the old materials with new 2x4, a rot board,

Complaint: 11411572
I am rejecting this response because:The response from complaint #11411672 from Midcounty Fence and Gate Co. has very little truths in it.  I only had 67 ft.on the back and 36 ft,on the side 103 ft total not 150 ft.  The fence was 16 years old, not 25.  Twenty-five years was the fence I did not replace.  The back and side fence had bad termite damage.  I used my same metal poles and it still took them 4 days to complete the job.  I should have watch the process of the fence being installed because they did not build it right.  His workers were not fence builders.  They were just off the street.  I have put up three other fences on my property and never one like this.  He lied about buying the pickets from Ritters and I have a text he sent to me that he admitted that the pickets were bought from Lowes and they were the lowest grade that he could have bought.  They were full of knots, had splits in them and some of them were warped.  That put more money in his pocket.  I am sending some pictures to show some of my concerns.  There are too many to make a picture of them all.  He lied about how much he charged me.  The bid was $1550 and I paid an extra $150 to him for an employee and another $50 to another one to clean up some of the bushes that were growing on the old fence.  I really did not look at the completed fence job until after I had paid him the rest of the money and they had left, a mistake on my part.  He had asked me for money on two different occasions.  I should have been smarter and not paid the rest of the money until I had looked at the finished product.  I had asked him to come and fix the problems with the fence and he stood me up on 3 different occasions and I have text message to prove that.  As far as going to his house I did go on two different occasions..  He was not answering his phone.  It would say "the person you are calling is not accepting calls at this time. Call again later"  His car was in the driveway so I knocked on the door.  The house was dark and I hear a woman's  voice saying he was not home..  He was working in Beaumont.  She was his mother that lived next door.  I ask her for his phone number and she told me he had changed his phone number and his service provider.  I told her I was unhappy  with his work and she told me he was bipolar and had ADHD and she would get him over to fix the problems even if he had to do it over.    I gave her my phone numbers and I left.   In no way was I aggressive to her.  She was very nice.  The daddy was a different story.  I stop by the next afternoon because she did not call me the phone number to try to get his new number and the daddy was very rude to me, shook his finger in my face, cursed at me and told me to leave.  He proceeded to get his cell phone and I assumed he was calling the police to scare me.  I decided all of that was not worth a phone number, turned around and left.  I doubt that he even called the police.  As far as asking him to visit me, I did not do that.  He tried to invite himself over.  Why would I want him to visit me??? He said he controlled all of his job which is another story.  He was not there half of the time and his workers were unsupervised.  He threw  his cigarette butts in the yard and left one on the edge of the swimming pool.  I had to pick up a lot of the old pieces of board myself.  One of the truths that he did tell is that I did pull up the cutting of the cactus that I had given him.  He stated that he sent you receipts and pictures.  I saw no receipts and don't believe he sent any pictures.  Their was nothing that he did that was 'PERFECTION'.  I am going to hire some fence builders to repair the damages.  I am a single 77 year old  home owner and this is not my first rodeo..I  received the files on the receipts and the picture.  I will address the picture first.  It was taken from a distance away from the actual fence and does not show all the mistakes that were made that are all over the fence.  I will agree that it looks good from a distance but you should see it up close and personal.  That picture makes him look good.  I will send you some of the up close photos that will show the full truth..  As far as the receipts, they are all not for the job he did for me.  Three out of the seven are not even when he was hired for the job.  There are two from the 24th and one from the 31st.  He was not hired until the 25th and finished on the 28th  - 4 days.  I would question the other ones.  He is trying to pad his receipts. You sent me 3 files and there should have been one.  The other two  are repeats.  I talked to the lumber guy at Ritters and he informed me that the pickets that [redacted] bought were the cheapest that he could have bought.  They were on clearance and Ritters was trying to get rid of them and they were sold cheaper that their regular ones.  He agreed that they were bad and more of a reject quality.  They had lots and lots of knots, splits and warped.  He could have paid  $.50 more a picket and got a better quality.  It would have cost me $110 more and I would have been glad to pay the difference.  I will go out tomorrow and count the pickets that he used. Don't believe he used 230.  I am sending some photos of up close and personal and those are just the tip of the iceberg.  I could send more but there are just too many. There was one issue that I failed to mention in my previous complaint.  There was quite a few pickets that only had one screw in them top or bottom.  I will have that fixed when I hire someone else.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
