The evidence and fact of the matter is When the car was taken back to Midnight tinting for the 2nd time, it had ALREADY PASSED inspection and received a sticker.NOTE: The car would have never passed the inspection if the rest of the windows were in violationONLY the front windshield tint was cited as a fail and then was immediately corrected by us on our 1st visit to Midnight TintingThen the car was taken back to inspection and had passed the inspection successfully Also note Midnight Tinting on the 1st visit never told the teenager the car windows were too darkOnly AFTER Midnight Tinting on the 2nd visit lightened them and took her money, and we complained, did we find out

Subject: Complaint: [redacted]Revdex.com of Hawaii,I first want to apologize for my late reply. I didn't get the email notification as I am terrible with checking company email. All of my scheduling/estimating is done over the phone. I checked my email after receiving the Revdex.com letter via...

mail. I remember everything from the estimation to the final service, then the argument over the phone. Cynthia called for an estimate to remove and retint a 2007 Forrester. I gave a price of $220 to complete the job. 1-2 weeks later, she calls to set the appointment, which was set 2-3 days later. She asked "I can black out the back right?"  I wasn't sure because I haven't tinted a 2007 Forrester in a while. So my exact reply was "The new Forresters are able to have darker back windows because they are MPVs. But I'll have to check your door vin plate to determine whether it's an MPV or Passenger vehicle." She said ok. So the "teenage daughter" comes in at 9:25am for the 9:00am appointment. Before greeting each other she says "I want it so that you can't see inside". I tell her that I first need to check her door vin plate, which did say passenger vehicle. I then told her that I can only make every window 29%. In Hawaii, the state allows 35% with a 6% variance. I pointed at the driver window of her car for reference. She seemed displeased, as most customers do because of the desire to have darker windows. But "teenage daughter" said that is fine. I told her that the job will take 2 1/2 hours, and that I would call her after completion. The job took a while longer (3 hours) because the original tint was in bad shape. It was a dyed product which was obvious because of the purplish tinge after removal. I'm assuming that it was 7-8 years old. I replaced it with Solar Gard Supreme 40, which metered 30% on the glass. This is an extruded product, which won't fade and will pass at every safety check station. It also comes with a lifetime warranty, without extra charge. With sincerity "teenage daughter" called to check on the job, and I told her that it would be completed in 20 min. So she came and paid for the job and drove off with a few friends. I get a call from Cynthia the next day asking about the darkness. I told her the car was tinted with the maximum darkness allowed. She kindly said ok. Cynthia then calls a week later asking about the old tint. I tell her yes, I metered it, and it was 20%. That's when her temper heated up. She told me to put back the dark tint. I said that I won't do that because I don't want to be liable. I said that my job is to make sure that her car can pass safety inspection. She said "My guy passes me all the time and it's none of your business how dark we want it".  She even told me that I was taking advantage of a minor. A bunch of attacks she made really insulted me. I don't care if my customer is under-age or 80 years old, make or female, gay or straight, I treat everyone the same. I have 14 years of tinting experience to prove it. And I have never taken an extended break from this business in those 14 years. She said that I threatened to hang up multiple times. That is true. I told her that we wouldn't get anywhere with the situation; she wants me to tint the car illegally, and I don't want to do it.  The whole argument had me perplexed. Cynthia sounds like a very nice lady. I wondered if she was confused or if I actually misread the door vin plate. So after the call, I called a local jiffy lube, which did confirm that the 2007 Forrester is treated as a passenger vehicle. I said ok, let's confirm with the final authority. I contacted Motor Vehicle and they also confirmed. I told them the situation and they asked who the original passing inspector was. I told them that I couldn't help them with that info. In my early years I tinted some cars with the assumption that they were MPVs. After failing safety check I re-tinted 2 cars and refunded one heated customer. Those were learning experiences. I know what is right, and I'll stand by it all day long. If "teenage daughter" ONLY wanted dark tint on her, she should've spoke out. I would have said "I can't do this for you", and she could have chosen another shop. Thank you Revdex.com for letting me respond.  I hope it's not too late to publish my response. Ronald M[redacted], Midnight Tinting
