Midtown comics Reviews (10)

I received an item from them a week ago, which was defective (incomplete). I reported the problem to them. It took them days to reply. They did not offer me a chance to return it. They did not offer to send me a replacement that was complete. They expect me to keep the defective item, with a measly 25% refund. I told them that was unacceptable, but they won't budge. Take your business elsewhere. Midtown Comics does not deserve it.

Hello,

About month ago tried to order three comics through your Midtown Comics netstore. The first order was apparently cancelled 26.3 after it was made and was not charged. Second attempt on 6.4 seemed to go through, and was charged through paypal. Even so, on your storepage it's very unclear what is going on.

In my order it says it is pending AND clicking it says it's cancelled. The information in general on the page is very odd, and mostly says data not found until clicked. I would like to know where to contact to further clear this mess.

Hello ***!We believe you spoke with one of our representatives today, and your credit card has been refunded in fullPlease let us know if there's anything else we can do for you!Thank you kindly,Midtown Comics

Had two orders with them, so I called to have them combine the orders. Instead the operator cancels both orders and tells me to re-order. Guess, what, they're out of the items. Over a hundred dollars in comics, gone within a span of two minutes?! Later on, I call to have them cancel a third waiting order, and they tell me they can't adjust orders once they're made. Well which is it? Complete [removed] working the phones and management. Read the employee reviews for a good idea just what type of company this is. Just don't deal with them.

I had about 5 items in my cart for at least 2 weeks now and then Midtown thought it would be a good idea to buy those items sitting in my cart for me. I tried to cancel because it was going to create an overdraft fee but they kept telling me they cant cancel an order that has been processed. The order didn't even [removed] ship what do you mean you cant cancel it,I didn't even order the stuff and now here I am waiting for a refund as a proof that midtown comics messed up and cost me 120 dollars in overdraft fees.

Review: I pre-ordered 2 comic books. Initially, I wasn't charged for shipping and taxes since these were pre-orders. I have repeatedly asked Midtowncomics' customer service if I should expect a subsequent charge that would result in the preparation and shipping-out of my orders and they said yes. I even have the correspondence as evidence. For the two books, my credit card was already charged (even though I was repeatedly told that I would not be charged until after the orders have been fulfilled), so I can't back out or ignore this problem. because I already spent real money months ago. I even paid my credit card company in advance despite not having any incoming products for months. That's why I have been repeatedly following up on the status of my order, but either Midtowncomics' customer service has been ignoring my request for assistance or they are assuming that their fulfillment department will eventually sort things out on its own, which it hasn't. I have not been remiss in following up on my order, especially since this transaction wasn't a promise, but a consideration (money) was already transmitted and accepted by Midtowncomics.Desired Settlement: Just refund the money I spend on pre-order:

Order Date Order # Status Details Total Invoice

7/*/2014 [redacted] Pending for Process See Details $5.18

I'll buy my copies off [redacted] if this is how I'm being treated. I know the amount is measly and Midtown can probably afford to ignore the small fry, but check out my order history and look at how much I've spent and patronized your company and just because I only spent so little, I'm being treated like dirt. GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY

Review: I had a subscription that should of shipped from Midtown Comics sometime in the middle of September. It never shipped so on September [redacted] I contacted them through their website customer service.

Me: Order #[redacted] What is the hold up? Its been waiting for approval for almost 2 weeks.

After waiting 4 days with no reply I messaged them again.

Me: Just cancel my order # [redacted]. I'm tired of waiting for it and you guys can't seem to return a message saying what the hold up is. I'm deactivating my subscription as well.

On October [redacted] I finally got a reply from them.

Midtown:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

I pulled up your order to see what the problem might be, why its not shipping to you properly. It looks like its being held back by 'Manifest Destiny #5 Cover A 1st Ptg Regular Cover' that is out of stock. They must have noticed while packing it but the system never notified you. I'm very sorry for the delay on this all. What we can do is return that comic and remove it from your order then repack you a new one to go out if you'd like. Or if you'd prefer we can cancel this order.

Let us know what you would like us to do. If it is easier for you also you can call us at: [redacted] M-F 9:30-4:30

Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.

Thank you kindly,

Midtown Comics

I emailed them a few hours upon receiving this email.

Me: I want to cancel the order.

On October [redacted] I got another email from them.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

We apologize for the delay in reaching out to you. We have encountered a large influx of customer inquiries. We are trying to reach everyone's email inquiries as quick as possible.

There was a processing error that led to the delay of the shipment of this order. We sincerely apologize.

They sent the package out to me! After I told them twice to cancel it.

On October [redacted] after I saw that the package was heading my way I emailed them again.

Me: I will be returning this order since I requested that it be canceled twice before it was shipped. I am not happy that I have been ignored on both occasions and my credit card was charged. Please let me know what I need to do to return it to you and get a refund. I will go through [redacted] if I have to but I hope we can avoid this.

On October [redacted] I finally got ahold of a real life person via their webpage.

Review: Through the Midtown Comics website, they offer the ability to preorder comic books and other items that are scheduled to come out in roughly 2 months time. Several titles which I ordered a year ago have been cancelled by their respective publishers. No money was ever refunded to me even though the publishers had announced months ago that the products were cancelled. When I asked a few weeks ago if they ever planned on issuing a refund, I was asked to provide the order numbers for each item. This was rather frustrating as, again, I placed these orders a long time ago and had to sift through a lot of old info that could've easily been accessed in their databases (I had already listed the titles of the items cancelled, so it was very easy for them to look it up, should they felt like it). I did provide the order numbers though to which they responded and asked what credit card to refund my money to. I replied with a card that was in their system and have yet to get a response or a refund. That was four business days ago. The company has simply been dragging their feet about issuing this refund which I never should've even ask for to begin with. At this point, I am over it and I even informed them that I was filing a complaint and that I would never be using their company again.Desired Settlement: Give me back my money for a series of items that are never being released, as declared by the company producing the items.

Response:

The customer was credited in full on October **. He appears to have contacted the Revdex.com shortly before the refunds were processed. All refunds have been processed.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. I was refunded the money, but it was not that I contacted the Revdex.com shortly before processing, it literally took them weeks and multiple emails before I was issued a refund. It was my final email in which over a week had passed since they even had my credit card info that I told them their incompetence prompted me to contact the Revdex.com. So, yes, I have received my refund, but no, their reply is not true.

Sincerely,

Review: This complaint actually involves both delivery of unordered products and "The failure to respond to phone calls or written requests for assistance or support." I have subscriptions to a number of comics through Midtown Comics' online service. In May, I emailed Midtown to ask if certain "special edition" comics would be included in my usual subscriptions. Midtown emailed me back and said no, and that I would have to pre-order those comics if I wanted to receive the "special editions." (I saved all emails including reference numbers; these are available on request). A few months later, Midtown comics suddenly reversed themselves and said the "special editions" WOULD be included in my regular subscriptions. The problem for me was, since I'd pre-ordered the "special editions" on Midtown's advice in May, I was afraid they would now try to send me two copies of each "special edition-- one from the pre-order I wouldn't have made if they hadn't told me to do it, and one from my regular subscriptions-- and charge me twice. I emailed Midtown repeatedly, making clear I only wanted one copy-- and one copy only-- of each "special edition" comic, but they either didn't reply to my emails or on the few occasions that they did, they acted as if they were terribly confused by this simple request. So now they have sent me two copies each of fifteen "special editions" so far. This is about $60 of extra items I repeatedly made clear to them I did not want to receive. And now, all attempts to contact Midtown are either seriously problematic or don't work at all. Their online chat (to ask questions and resolve problems) is supposed to be available 9:30 - 4:30 EST but each time I've tried to access it during that time no one responds and it frequently says it is "offline." When I call the number they list on their site, I get put on hold indefinitely; this week I gave up after being on the phone for nearly twenty minutes listening to the same recording saying someone would be with me shortly. They never seem to actually answer. When I email, they often don't respond; for example, I emailed them on Tuesday of this week about this problem; it's now Friday and I've still heard nothing from them. Apparently, I have no real way to contact them to try and resolve this problem.Desired Settlement: I simply want to return the duplicate "special edition" comics that I'd repeatedly made clear to them I didn't want, so that I only have to keep one copy of each "special edition." Upon receipt, store credit from them for what they've charged me for those duplicates would be fine. I think it would be fair if they paid the postage for me to return those duplicates. I would also like them to make sure they go through any future orders and only send me one copy of each "special edition" comic that's yet to be released and not send me or charge me for any more duplicates. In the longer run, I'd like the assurance of better communication from Midtown (like making sure their chat, email, and phone contacts are genuinely accessible at the times they're supposed to be), but that's a broader issue.

Review: On October **, 2015, I preordered two (2) items from Midtown Comics, which was a Medicom Roaring Godzilla for $48.00 and a Medicom Metallic Hedorah for $60.00 and order number [redacted] was made. I received confirmation on October **, 2015 that my credit card was charged $129 for preorders that is to be released on January and March 2016.

Upon checking my account at their website for order status, they deleted order number [redacted] from my account, though my [redacted] was charged anyway. I attempted to notify them by email and phone but no response at all.

I feel I was robbed by this establishment.Desired Settlement: I wish to receive a refund of the exact amount charged from my credit card.
