Midtown Eyeworks Optometry Reviews (1)

Review: Dear Revdex.com,

This is in request to eye glasses I was to get from my Dr. I took them the prescription and the first thing he said, was I have to pay for it. I told her I cannot afford it. I'm low income, with medical paper fir it. They allow you to get one pair of glasses. She insisted and I continued to tell her. I called medical and they said, medical paper for it. I called medical and they said yes, They pay for it. I got the run around about it from the optometry. Haven't heard anything from them for about two weeks. I called the Dr.s office and they called me, the optometry. [redacted]her 2 or 3 weeks. I get exhausted. She picked out frames etc.I kept telling the girls, I can't see them - They had clear. Several times I did that. They insisted I need to wear them to get use to them. I tried and I cannot use them. They did not make them up right or something. I called my Dr. back and told they have nothing to do with how they make them. I cannot use them. I don't know what they did. Before I got them, I was told over again. I got them, I was told over again. I'd have to pay for it. I wouldn't listen then, said she got it figured out, bolony. Medical doesn't pay for it, medicare does. What's going on here. All I get is problems because I pay for them myself. Where am I going to get the money from. I can't afford it. That's why I'm on medical and medicare. I get nothing but excuses and the run around. Now I still have no glasses and they only pay one time, that's it. I don't like having to do this but I'm forced too. I think it's terrible the way business place do you have if you can't pay for it yourself. What kind of business are they running. No one seems to do anything about it. It's not right. They were approved too. If they have but with medication too. They try to discourage you from getting something that's been approved and you get the run around and problems. I wrote them a letter about 2 weeks ago about the glasses. I can't see through them. No good. But no return call nothing. They ignored me. They should do them right.Desired Settlement: They way they are suppose to be. What good are they if you can't use them. I'm sick and tired of this. I know they not going to be happy, me writing you, they should do it right and bill whoever, they force me too. I don't know what else I can do.

May 17, 2016 Revdex.com [redacted] Re: [redacted], Rose To Revdex.com, On February 17, 2016 Ms. [redacted] presented at our front desk with a spectacle prescription to be filled that was written by her ophthalmologist. She brought in no other health records other than the simple prescription for bifocals. There was no indication of her visual status or health conditions noted on the prescription. This is pertinent information because Medi-Cal does not pay for spectacles for adults, and Medicare only pays for spectacles one time after cataract surgery. Ms. [redacted] brought in her prescription and picked out a frame which we had made at a lab according to her prescription. Since Medicare has not made payment on our claim, Ms. [redacted] was subsequently billed by our office for the frame and lenses that were dispensed to her. She now complains of not being able to use them because they are not clear and she can not get used to them. Our office had the spectacles made to the prescription brought in by Ms. [redacted]. Any type of visual problem and / or adaptation problem would need to be addressed by Ms. [redacted]'s ophthalmologist who wrote the prescription. As far as Ms. [redacted]'s ocular conditions are concerned, this office has no records or history at all. That privileged health information is protected by HIPPA and is retained in Ms. [redacted]'s file at her ophthalmologist. Once again, she presented to our office with the prescription in hand, which we filled and attempted to bill Medicare. She was only billed by our office after we didn't receive payment from Medicare. To this day, Ms. [redacted] still has the spectacles and she still has an outstanding balance at our office for those spectacles that are in her possession. It is the patient's responsibility to know what their insurance companies cover when they get care at any practitioner's office. Sincerely, [redacted], OD
