Review: My name is [redacted]. My wife, two friends, and I booked a reservation through Expedia for the Sweets Inn Hotel for February 20th & 21st at a rate of $69.99 per night for a total of $178 total for both nights. When we arrived at the Sweets Inn, they made the decision to send us to the Midtown Hotel, in which we assumed the price would remain the same. When I checked my account Thursday night, I noticed that our card had been charged $203.14. Not only once but twice by Sweets Inn. The second charge of $203.14 resulted in our account being overdrawn, which resulted in a overdraft charge of $36.00 and a negative balance charge of $27.00. When I spoke with Mr. [redacted] (manager of both Sweets Inn and Midtown Hotel) on Friday, February 21, 2014 he informed me that he would be refunding the second charge of $203.14 back to our card.We went on vacation from Saturday, February 22, 2014 through Thursday, February 27, 2014. When we returned home, our account did not reflect a refund of $203.14 from Mr. [redacted]. My wife and I have attempted to contact Mr. [redacted] on more than one occasion over the past 2 weeks, but we were told each time that he had left the hotel for the day. We left our name, number, and a message for Mr. [redacted] and no contact was made from him.It is almost three weeks later, and we have seen no effort from Mr. [redacted] to contact us or in providing our refund of $203.14.On Monday, March 10, 2014 I sent an email to Mr. [redacted] via the Midtown Hotel email address. However, it was returned with a delivery failure. So I sent an email via the Sweets Inn Motel email address. On Tuesday, March 11, 2014 I sent a fax to the Midtown Hotel of the email I had previously sent on Monday. And there has still been no effort from Mr. [redacted] to contact us.Desired Settlement: My wife and I were only seeking our original refund of $203.14. However, due to the lengths we have had to go through in attempts to contact Mr. [redacted] and the fact that he has made no effort to contact us back or issue the agreed upon refund, we would also like the overdraft charge and negative balance charge refunded as well. For a total refund of $266.14.

Response:

At this time, I have been contacted directly by midtown hotel regarding complaint ID 9966906, however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The hotel manager, Mr. [redacted] Dodd, contacted me on March 15, 2014 and said that he is within his right to charge me twice for because we accidentally booked two rooms.

However when we spoke on February 21, 2014, he said that because it was a accident and we didn't need two rooms, as a "good will gesture" he would refund the charge. I took that as a verbal agreement.

Please find attached the email conversation from March 15, 2014.

Sincerely,

Review: Upon arrival at Midtown motel we were placed in a horrible room. The air didn't work. We didn't have tissue. The room smelled. We were placed in another room. The second room had no towels or tissue. Around the following day around 8 am I went to the lobby and asked for towels. I was told that they wouldn't have towels til 11 am. Immediately my cousin I gathered our things and left. I booked my motel with [redacted]. We were suppose to stay two nights but left early. I wanted a refund but I couldn't get it because Midtown Motel lied to the customer service people of [redacted]. I was told by [redacted] that Midtown Motel said we refused a room but actually our A/C didn't work in the first room. I am very upset not only because I can't get a refund but also because I couldn't tell my side of the story to [redacted]. [redacted] had no other choice but to believe a Motel they did service for. Also the area was very sketchy. I hope something can be done about this. I'm a very honest and truthful person. If nothing gets resolved I know that karma will bite them hard for poor service and not being honest.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back from the night I didn't stay. I know things can happen but poor service is no excuse for any place of business.

Review: I stayed at Midtown Hotel for one night (May 16-17). I made clear in my reservation that I would like to have a room not facing the street due to my sleeping issue. However, I was assigned a room facing the street, and I was not able to sleep. I emailed to the GM @ 11.48 PM on May 16 the following complaint.Re: Reservation #: 4537914 May 16 to midtown.manage. I am currently at your hotel. In my reservation I made clear that I have trouble to sleep and would like to have a room not facing the street. Unfortunately my room, 316, is facing the street, and I am unable to sleep. Very bad. Then on May 18, I emailed to the GM again the following request for a refund:Request for Refund May 18to midtown.manage. Mr. Marvin D[redacted], General Managerhe Midtown Hotel New OrleansDear Sir:I am writing you to request a refund of $67.90 for my stay on May 16 at your hotel. As I wrote to you on May 16 @ 11:48 PM I was unable to sleep in rm. 316 due to the noise on Tulane Av. though I told you on Jan. 21 in my reservation that I would like a room not facing the street because I have trouble to sleep. Around 2 AM on May 17, I was so desperate that I went downstairs and complained to the night receptionist (an African American with bears). When I was checked out in the morning of May 17 I complained again to the Property Manger, and the night receptionist was there to confirm my complaint at midnight. I would appreciate it if you would refund me $67.90, as the usual practice in your industry. Thank you for your time in this matter, and look forward to hearing from you. I can be reached @ Sincerely yours,I never heard from the GM.Desired Settlement: A total refund of $67.90.

Review: I am writing to complain about no-refund for the pre-approved reservation cancellation at the Midtown Hotel, New Orleans, LA. I did not get the promised refund over 20 days after cancellation of my reservation with 10 calls to the hotel. Seems that they in fact did not process my refund at all.Reason of Cancellation: no air conditioning in the room (not fixable), poor facilities: broken taps, roaches in the room, smells. Since it was not fixable, I got cancellation permission from the store manager, [redacted], who promised us that the refund will be done in 7 days.Original Reservation from 03/10/2014 to 03/15/2014 and paid $796.60 @ rate of $139.45/night.Actual stay: 03/10/2014 and 03/11/2014 two nights, (bill of $318.64)Pre-approval Reservation Cancellation by [redacted]: 03/12/2014-03/15/2014(bill of $477.96)Reason of Cancellation: no air conditioning in the room (not fixable), poor facilities: broken taps, roaches in the room, smells. Since it was not fixable, I got cancellation permission from the store manager, [redacted], who promised us that the refund will be done in 7 days.Desired Settlement: I need a full refund and an apology!!

Ms.Tahite the manger was very rude, mean, uneducated, not understanding, ignorant, and very, impolite. I asked to hear at least a complimentary room for the troubles in our stay (broke sink, broken air, broken door,no towels, and bed bugs). She wouldn't do so. She nor another front desk clerk wouldn't not give me a comment card nor the managers name or number.it was room 234. Ms.tahite from what I was told from another employee she comes in at 7am-3pm. She hung up in customer face. She lashed out and tryed to fight a minor. She is completely unprofessional. AN so we're some of the other staff at Mid Town Hotel.

Review: I came to New Orleans and it was late I was looking for a reasonably priced place to stay as I had my granddaughter with me and my 2 adult children were going to a party and needed a place to change. I paid and was given a room with a leaking roof and no air conditioning. Then I requested a different room and from that point on I was followed from my car to the room I was harassed by the staff and the bed was covered in small bugs the people in the room next door were smoking weed and playing extremely loud music to which the staff said nothing about even after I complained they were more worried about my children changing clothes in my room even waiting for them to leave then waking me up asking me to leave if they returned to the room to collect my granddaughter. I've never been treated like that before. The staff was very cruel and the room was horrible when I asked for the management I was told there was no management and when I asked for my money back they refused.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back I spent 80.00 for a room I was on in for 4 hours and I was harassed the entire time.

Review: We checked in the Midtown hotel on Feb 6th, 2016 for one night. During the checkout process, we accidentally left one bag in the hotel room. Within 30 minutes of leaving the hotel room, we realized that we forgot the bag in the room. We called the hotel immediately and we were told that they found the bag, we could collect anytime. When we reached the hotel to collect the bag, we were told that the bag was not to be found.

At this time, I spoke to the owner/ manager (Mr. Marvin [redacted] and he promised to look into the matter. After few days, he informed that the bag was found on another floor and he sent me the picture of bag and details of the contents to confirm. The personal belongings were missing. I asked him to ship the bag to my home address in Virginia, with whatever contents it was found with.

Mr. D[redacted] confirmed that the bag will be shipped in next few days. It has been more than a month now since the bag was found. I have left him numerous messages and texted him many times. So far, I have not heard back from him nor received the bag. I am left with no choice but to report this matter and would like immediate resolution.Desired Settlement: Considering the aggravation and the unprofessional experience, at the minimum:

1. I would like to get my bag with whatever the contents it was found with.

2. Reimbursement of the lost personal belongings - Electronic shaving razor, two tops for my wife, toiletries pouch, shirt and pajamas.

Ashok
