Midtown Moving and Storage Reviews (2)

Review: Midtown Moving moved 70 boxes from my apartment at [redacted]. Once I opened the boxes, I found thousands of dollars of damages and broken merchandise. Many itemes were stolen. I had tried for a very long time to contact the manager, [redacted] and was told by a woman in the office named, [redacted] that he was not in. I had called the company for a year and a half. There was a time when I lost the info and had to call much later after I saw the problem. It is clear to me that this company is as low as it goes. You cannot talk to anyone who has authority and finally today when I got [redacted] on the phone he told me, "take me to court." When I looked the company online there was a consumer complaint that showed up with problems similar to mine. Things lost or stolen and many things broker. The Revdex.com cannot allow this company to stay in business and I want restitution for my loss of close to 100,000 dollars. THIS COMPANY SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS!!!!Desired Settlement: I WANT TO BE REIMBRUSED FOR ALL OF THE DAMAGE AND LOSS OF MY PERSONAL ITEMS.

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

[redacted] was evicted from apartment [redacted], pursuant to a Civil Court warrant of eviction obtained by City Marshall [redacted].

The Landlord and managing agent of that apartment, Time Equities Inc. and Citi Prop Management Corp. retained Midtown Moving & Storage, Inc. to remove [redacted]'s possession from her apartment. They had taken legal possession of that apartment on April **, 2011.

The next day, on April **, 2011, our firm removed [redacted]'s possessions from her apartment. We took an inventory of her possessions. The inventory reflects that most of [redacted]'s possessions were "BR" broken and "D" damaged. A copy of that inventory is annexed.

Said inventory was accurate and complete.

'

We have no knowledge of who had access to the premises between April [redacted] 2011 when the Landlord took legal possession and April **, 2011 when we commenced the move. We have no knowledge as to whether the premises were locked or secured prior to our arrival.

The Landlord's representative was present when we conducted the move. Said representative signed a document which reflected that the apartment was empty when we finished the move. The agent made no notation that our movers broke or stole any property. See Enclosure.

On May *, 2011, notice pursuant to U.C.C.§ 7-210 was given to [redacted] of our firm's warehouseman's lien. See Notice enclosed.

Thereafter on July **, 2011, [redacted] retrieved all of her possessions from our warehouse and executed a receipt which stated "I, [redacted] am receiving my property from Midtown Moving & Storage as per inventory only"- See receipt.

[redacted] made no complaints about damaged, lost or stolen property.

I questioned our moving crew driver about this job. He reiterated his recollection that [redacted]'s property was broken and damaged prior lo the move being commenced. He denied that any of her property was damaged by his crew and vehemently denied that the crew stole any of her property.

Our moving crew is well known to me, some having been employed for many years by our company. They do not steal property, and on the few occasions when property is damaged during the move. they make note of it.

I believe that [redacted]'s complaint is wholly unfounded.

If you require further information, please call me.

Very truly yours,

MIDTOWN MOVING & STORAGE, INC.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Midtown Moving and Storage regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: A Storage Company is holding my property after an [redacted] and will not release my property to me without paying them a "Handling Fee" of $1400.00 of which I was Never Told of until I went there with a moving truck and movers of which I had to pay in advance. My due process rights have been violated.Desired Settlement: Stop them from Auctioning off my property. Release my property to me without a fee.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I require more time to Rent a Truck and Movers again to move my property... 10/**/13 Thursday Would be sufficient.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

To Whom it may concern,

We are in receipt of the complaint from [redacted] who resided at [redacted].

Midtown Moving @ Storage, INC' is willing to waive this handling fee if the property is removed on or before [redacted]'s 30 days initial deadline is up.

I understand that the [redacted]'s property came to our facility on September [redacted] so on October [redacted] automatically a $1,400 storage fee would be added on for Storage fees. However the [redacted] falls on a Saturday and we do not open on weekends,

We operate the same days and hours as the NYC Marshals and courts System as we are not a regular Moving and storage facility.

Therefore we are willing to accommodate [redacted] and in consideration we will extend this until Monday October [redacted].

Moves can be done Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00AM to 1:00PM. Our office hours are 8AM to 5PM. [redacted] needs to call at least one hour prior to coming to our facility. His unit is a large one and it takes time and man power to open, unload and bring all of his boxes and furniture down in our freight elevator to our loading dock.

We are a very busy office and I, am not always in the office but any of my staff members would be happy to assist [redacted].

Sincerely
