Review: I rented a 2015 Toyota Corolla from Midway from 4/26/15 thru 5/4/15. My flight departed at 6:15 on 5/4/15 and their business would not open 8am that morning. I was instructed by them to leave the car at a parking lot, put the parking ticket on the dash and give the keys to the parking lot attendant. I left the car at the parking lot between 4:30 and 4:45am. The following day I got a phone message (on the backup phone number, not the primary number) informing me that the windshield had a "chip" in it. At no time during the time the car was in my possession did I hear anything hit the windshield. I have built hot rods and airplanes and am very aware of such things. Had this happened I would have called them immediately, followed by a call to my insurance company. Their "Claims Agent" went on to tell me that I was responsible for the car until it returned to their facility. I believe that by telling me to give the keys to the parking lot attendant that he is their agent and at that point the car is no longer my responsibility. The parking lot attendant did not inspect the car. The next day when I actually talked to the Claims Agent, she informed me that there was also a "Scratch across the trunk" that I am also responsible for. She could not provide me with a picture of the scratch or the chip, what time I dropped off the car at the parking lot, or when it was returned to their facility. I am insistant that no damage to the car took place while the car was in my possession. I would strongly suggest that anyone dropping off a rental car at a remote location should do the following: Note the time and mileage. Do a cell phone video walk around of the car with special attention to the windshield. I know I will be doing this in the future.Desired Settlement: Drop their claim against me.
