Terrific company! Great customer service

Over a year ago I entered to win a giveaway from Midwest construction. They have since called me at least two times a week for the past year and a half! I have told them I'm not interested, yet they still call and always leave voicemails of either blank silence or a lady talking to her fellow co-workers about her personal life. Not once has a voicemail been left that's actually relevant to what they are calling for. It is very unprofessional and detours me from ever using this company or referring it to anyone that I know. Do NOT give this company your contact information, ever.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/07/09) */
We are working with the [redacted]'s to sort out this issue. In fact earlier today[redacted] our General Manager responded to Ms. [redacted]'s email to let her know that we wanted to speak with her in regards to some repairs that need to be...

made to her roof. Please review the content of these most recent emails below.
From Ms. [redacted]
I just called GAF corporate headquarters to try to reset the appointment you made last week and they said they have no roof inspectors that were scheduled to see us. They also said they only have a few for the entire country and were not able to send anyone out for our concerns.
They guessed that you made an appointment with the TM (territory manager) or local sales rep to come out, but they are NOT qualified to make recommendations or opinions about the quality of any install.
This is the number I called.
[redacted]
Who were you working with?
[redacted]'s response this afternoon
[redacted],
The GAF territory manager met with the owner of Midwest Construction at your property on Friday to go over the concerns that you have, and to go over any additional things that may have been over looked last year. You are right about two things; first it is very difficult to get anyone from the manufacture to come out to look at installed roofing material and second, he ended up not really being qualified to determine if there were any issues with the installation of your roof. But, our owner is and he identified several details that he would like corrected. He also requested manufacture specs for the specific concerns that you had, which the GAF rep is more than qualified to provide.
He provided a punch list of concerns that need to be addressed. But I or he would like to speak to you about one the areas of concern because bringing it to code will affect the estetic look of your house. When would be a good time to talk?
Apparently instead of setting up a time for myself or [redacted] to speak with her about the punch list of items that we would like to correct, for no charge since this would be covered under her warranty, she decided instead to file a complaint. I do not fault Ms. [redacted] in anyway for her frustrations and as indicated by the email, am more than willing to correct any and all issues with her roof including pre existing issues with her ventilation that are more than likely the cause of her perpetual ice damming issues.
The reason that we wanted to speak with her is the section of her roof that is of most concern to her is an issue, but not for the reason that she thinks it is. Not to get too technical, but I think its worth explaining here. The slope on that portion of her roof is not adequate to install the type of shingle that was put on there. It was missed by the building inspector, our project manager and was the type of shingle that was on there so it was also missed by her insurance company, and whoever installed it last time, but when I inspected the roof I noticed that it was not to code. In order to bring this portion of her roof to code and manufacture spec we would have to put rolled roofing on that section. Rolled roofing would not look very good and would not match the rest of her house.
The insurance company paid us to redeck the house and since that portion of the house already had decking to code our installers did not change it out. This was an error on our part that [redacted] was unaware of until he sent our repair guy out to the property to do a physical inspection of the decking. We are willing to swap that decking out, but would like to speak with the peterson before we completely alter the look of their house by bringing that section to code
I am disappointed that the [redacted]'s were not able to meet with myself and the Territory Manager for GAF, because I was hoping to use that time to restore enough confidence in our company for them to allow us to address any issues they may be having. The biggest issue that we are having with the [redacted]'s is their confidence in our company as she had alluded to in her complaint.
At this point in time we are willing to incur any costs necessary to get the [redacted]'s roof to a state that exceeds what they had before they incurred hail damage. At no point in time have we told the [redacted]'s that we were unwilling to address any of their concerns. We do need the [redacted]'s to cooperate with us so that we can complete this task. Yes this has been going on for too long, and believe me nobody wants this to be over quickly more than [redacted] and myself. Unfortunately this job was completed in the fall, and winter is not the most ideal time to address roofing issues. Combine that with the [redacted]'s believing that we are incompetent and that we are trying to skirt liability, has made for a problematic situation.
So to be clear, mistakes were made on our part during this installation. Both our installers and our project manager missed items during the course of that process, and we have addressed these issues with them internally. We are willing to make any necessary repairs to fix these mistakes, and we are willing to do this at no charge. The [redacted]'s are aware of our commitment to fix it and I have a lengthy email chain between [redacted] and the [redacted]'s that would indicate that commitment.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/07/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I genuinely appreciate the response, albeit the first we have heard from the owner. We had the city inspector come out again, since their general manager suggested the "permit was closed" and any repairs on their part would be a courtesy not a necessity to meet code requirements. Upon second review, the city inspector found multiple areas that need correcting. The permit was re-opened yesterday and we have a copy of the problem list. That with an outside contractor's opinion lead us to file a formal complaint. How would an unassuming owner know to ask for a re-inspection unless they have been pushed to the point of total frustration?[redacted] has not assured us of Midwest abilities. If you read above, you will note in his last email he states they didn't even have manufactor's specifications until yesterday even though they put our roof on 9 months ago. How does that emit confidence and capability?
I would like to speak to the owner directly. He has never tried to contact us despite months of frustration. I have asked for a written plan of action multiple times. I would like bullet points on what is deficient, and how it will be corrected. I do not want a patch job. I paid a great amount of money and I expect a new roof, not a chopped up, tarred down fix. There were multiple cut corners on our install. I believe Midwest hired an outside team during the storm season that was not competent or well supervised. Not only did they install the shingles, drip edge and flashing wrong, but they reused venting that our insurance was billed for and billed for decking that (by their own admission wasn't put on.) I feel they need to own their mistake and redo our roof correctly under correct supervision. I am glad to hear the owner is taking culpability for the poor workmanship. I need to know he will personally oversee the repairs since his general manager,[redacted], and last year's project manager, [redacted], and their customer support rep, [redacted] have not met our needs thus far.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/07/21) */
I am meeting with the [redacted]s tonight at 5:30, based on our phone conversations last week I am optimistic that we can come up with an agreeable punch list of items that need to be addressed and this issue will be resolved to the [redacted]'s satisfaction.
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2014/07/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We did meet this day and [redacted] brought two outside experts to help identify the problems. I felt the meeting was productive and we were able to come to an understanding for repairs.
I asked again for a written statement about what will be repaired and when the repairs will be done. I have asked for before and after pictures for each area that is addressed. They have verbally agreed to this.
We are waiting for their statement and a timeline.
