Midwest Design Homes, Inc. Reviews (4)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. No matter what we have stated as a complaint, the answers from MDH have remained the same that they are not to blame. These items have been discussed and remained unresolved and I don't see any resolution in sight. I am not sure that any resolution will come about using this forum as every issue has been told to us that they have never heard of it before now when we have emails from them and to them saved in regards to these matters. I don't know where to go from here

Good Afternoon, We are going to keep this short because not everything is factual in this complaint.  I have around 74 different emails of communication with the homeowner's notifying them of all dates and scheduled items. At this point we would like it know that we have kept in...

CONSTANT communication with them over these barn doors; which was no fault on MDH's part in regards to the barn doors.  Homeowner's knew what they were getting and even signed off ACCEPTING the doors to be custom made for them - they were shown materials and asked requested we custom make the doors for them.  MDH cannot be responsible for something homeowner's decided when they are done they no longer like.  Also we cannot be responsible for ordering time frames with Manufacturer's - at least 4 times they were informed that the new doors they requested are a minimum of 6-8 weeks of lead time. They are due in on a truck to the lumber yard on May 25th, 2017 which they are also aware of (I have every email communication). The siding - in order to satisfy the homeowner we suggested they wait until spring time to do and the materials are ordered (this is not a stock item) and again cannot be responsible for Manufacturer lead times.  Thank you

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]I have attached both [redacted]'s statement that ABT did not have a report on our basement wall only an estimate as well as an assessment done by a foundation specialist.  Midwest Design Homes needs to pay for an engineer of my choosing to advise on the proper fix for the foundation wall as well as pay for the recommended fix.  As stated in the report there is damage to the wall, there are no shrinkage cracks.   The plan submitted to us by Midwest Design Homes had arches over the garages doors.  We approved the plan.  If Midwest Design homes does not "do custom work" as stated in an email from [redacted] to me (can be provided if needed) it should not be on the plans.  We approved the plan not how it was installed.  Midwest Design Homes need to pay to have the arches over our garage doors look like the approved plan.  There was never any conversation with Midwest Design Homes regarding them hiring a landscaper to do our lawn.  There is no change order.  There is no documentation of any written request from us.  This is not our bill and we will not be paying it. Attached are photos of the building wrap showing between the window and roof line.  This has been discussed with both [redacted] and the Project Manager on multiple occasions and has not been resolved.  We ask that Midwest Design Homes has a carpenter of our choosing fix this issue. When the engineer is here to determine the appropriate fix for the damaged foundation wall we ask they look at and approve the installation of the egress window.  Also, we have twice scheduled appointments with Midwest Design Homes to discuss this issues in person as requested and both times they have cancelled the day prior to the meeting. There are many other issues with the home such as cracked bathtubs, damaged doors and damaged mirrors that are not part of this complaint and also have not been taken care of by Midwest Design Homes.  We would be happy to provide photos of all other damages to home.
Regards,
[redacted]

HelloPlease see our counter to the complaint made.  I apologize for not getting this sooner as I stated the owner lost his brother and was not in due to funeral arrangements and the funeral itself. In original complaint I included the email sent DIRECTLY from ABT stating "excessive dryout crack" so that should already be in our files.  I attached it again in case it was missed. ABT has been in business for many many years and this is their area of expertise and they know what they are doing. If the homeowner's would like to get a second opinion we welcome that but we already paid a third party whom we do use on our payroll for anything to access the damage and the homeowner was present when this took place so he is aware of everything discussed on that day I believe April 2, 15. [redacted] (homeowner) agreed to wait and was fine with it until now.The garage and the arch we are more than welcome to give them an estimate on how much it will be to repair.  That was stated to them previously also to contact he PM for an estimate if they would like to make changes to the "approved plan"The lawn again they asked for assistance. The building wrap again when the Revdex.com complaint was made this was the first we heard of this. Hense the reason a face to face NEEDS to take place.  WE have given many many days and times and all shot down.  See attached email where [redacted] is stating she does not have time for a face to face meeting.  These CANNOT BE RESOLVED without one.Egress windows - Again first time this came up was in the Revdex.com complaint need face to face to see about this and what they are stating the issue is.  The house inspector for that Town never would have passed this if they were not correct.  Two appoints set by MDH that the homeowner is stating was cancelled is very much false.  There was one time that they gave us a day and time on and it happened to be a day that the Project Manager who would need to be there to access the issues was on vacation.  So yes that ONE time we did tell them we needed to reschedule and the attached email shows her stating it's not an option for them.If there are ANY issues that are warranty issues that is our responsibility to fix we would be honored to do that but the homeowner needs to allow us to do so.Thank you very much
